Newcastle 2-1 Tottenham – Match highlights

Match highlights of our opening day win over Tottenham for you all to enjoy now, including a rather cheeky back pass from Steven Taylor to Tim Krul!

As I’m sure you’ll have read and indeed seen, it was hardly a vintage match from our perspective but we have three points to show for it which is the aim of the game I suppose. We scored more goals than they did. Canny difficult this football lark isn’t it?

Joking aside, the win reminded of how we started off last season in truth. Solid yet not spectacular but we still managed to grind out results. To do that with a bunch of players who have hardly played in pre-season isn’t bad at all in my mind and means that it can only get better once they all get up to speed.

Howay the lads!

  1. Troy I agree mate.
I swear on here, but rarely use expletives to insult people.
(although don’t go digging there Troy please, as you’ll probably unearth one or two 😆 )

I generally use expletives to add colour to my posts. If someone gets on my tits I’d rather challenge their argument than tell them where to go and call them a so-and-so.

    Anyway………….

  2. Troy you know I don’t agree with swearing and being abusive because I was normally told that the minute you do that you’ve lost the argument. But I do understand that sometimes it happens and aslong as it’s not a regular occurrence, I know a few times I have felt like letting rip and telling people what I really thought of them 😈
But again as I said did JJ not apologise for calling the Gulper a p*ick 😉

  3. Just put £200 on it Rodz – the bookie could barely count my money for laughing tho. 😕 Bet the cheeky ***** won’t be laughing come Monday morning when I’m there to collect my winnings!

  4. TC, aye that’ll learn him. 😛

That’s a reet bummer about the car Dave. but at least your daughter is unscathed. She got a bit of a rude awakening to the perils of driving. Better she gets the wake up call early on. Hopefully the scare hasn’t put her off driving.

  5. Troy – at 449 – wholeheartedly agree.

Re JJ the same swearer on losing his argument changed tack and swore more as each element was shown to be a hoodwink. Thereon its OK to swear again?!

    Jj made his bed

If it was a one off line for a one off comment I would accept his apology – however he is backed into his corner and he hates it – so he said “It has caused too much disruption on the thread, and therefore in order for you to move on, I apologise for calling you a *****”

That’s not an apology – an apology says – sorry fella I was out of line.

He has said it in the hope it gets him off the hook – he wants me to move on to stop his embarrassment.

Too clever to let him away with that fella – its his standard character – now playing a victim – hoooowwwwlllllllllll hooowwwlllLl

  7. Some of the poshest people I know swear like dockers and some of the ex dockers Iknow never swear ,it’s nowt to do with class imo.

  8. Stardust, you’re obviously a bright lad, and as far as I can see it so is JJ.

I respect the fact you never swear (I don’t know how the **** you do it TBH), but to suggest the use of expletives reflects low intellect and class is quite a controversial statement.

Horses for courses. Some people enjoy swearing, others don’t. There’s a myriad of examples of profanity in literature. As I say, some swear, some don’t.

I apologise for piggy-backing onto an argument that has, ahem, naff all to do with me, but in JJ’s defence I think you just riled him with your anti-Saylor comment, as it’s a bit of a broken record.

I agree, his retort was somewhat harsh, and the way I see it he apologised so the line should really have been drawn now.

…I know you’ll milk the very last drop out of him though. You ****. 😛 😆

  9. Gulper did you ever apologise to me for trying to intimidate me by telling me there is some bad men and that my address in Newtownabbey Co Antrim, wasn’t hard to find out ❓ 😆 I still can’t sleep at nights with fear you big intimidating scundrel 😉

  10. Ha Rodz — I agree with the sentiment of your post 1000 percent. I am not a saint far from it and love banter. I can take pee taking with the very best – I live by the motto ‘live by the sword’ and I quite enjoy dying by it (not the pork sword type though)

Swearing is fine in its place. Your stuff late night has comedy timing and is hilarious.

I am not naïve at all – I always think kids could read the blog and swearing is a part of life – so swearing for humour I get and find funny – even though I don’t use it – but aggressive personal stuff has no place on the blog – as Troy said if I went that direction the thread would be an ugly thing.

I love character, the ability to laugh at yourself, humiliate yourself, and have the humility to admit when you’ve acted improperly – that’s the great part of life – living.

On the contrary – I take a stand against bullies (always weak) and the dishonest. JJ imo fell into the latter category on this thread.

As Troy said (and he is the biggest pee takers I know and he would do anything to destroy me and I would accept it as I have got him a million times over the years.) Its water off a ducks bath 😆

JJ is a typical example of someone who starts an argument and isn’t man enough to finish it – I don’t need an apology – couldn’t give a hoot – but it will rumble on until he is a man about it. No sleep lost – zzzzzzzzzzzzz 😆

I sent him around – but you ended up tattooing ‘Newcastle FC United’ on his left arm 😆 😆 😆 😆

  12. I bet you can remember that too ?? I used to wonder how you found out but I soon realised 😆

Oh and was it just a rumor that your were fond of a bit of sword fencing with wt 😆

  13. Lol – nah he says it makes it part of who he is so is happy with it as its part of who he is – got to respect that like.

Took my daughter to the baths the other day – this fella had an amazing lifelike tattoo of KK (but from the 80s) with long flowing locks. Just looked wrong – especially that he still had a mullet! Appreciated the skill but boy had the image dated.

I should have suggested covering it with a jellyfish 😆

  14. Or suggested he got a Saylor portrait beside it 😀 Nah I think it’s normally a bad Idea to get someone tattooed to represent your team, unless maybe SBR or someone similar but im not really into that, IMO it’s cool to have your Kids but thats maybe it.

I think he meant that some people have class, or self discipline in the way they behave and conduct themselves. I don’t think he was referring to money, social standing etc. But I know what your saying, I know Muslim people at work that swear like a trooper, I bet they wouldn’t swear in their mother language in front of their parents or in a Mosque. So I don’t appreciate them swearing in front of me.

I understand why you bit. I’m ****** if I’d ignore such a scathing and dismissive remark myself.
