Game On! Newcastle v Club Brugge

Europe!
Newcastle host Club Brugge this evening as Europa League action returns to Tyneside once more.

Alan Pardew will no doubt be keen to build on the last result in this competition, which was the 3-0 victory over Bordeaux, and will be looking for another three points which will put us in pole position to qualify for the knockout stages.

A full preview of the game can be viewed here if you wish to do so. It features some preliminary team news, however after it was published we’ve been garnered with a bit more news from the powers that be. That news being that Cheik Tiote will be in the starting eleven for the game tonight, and that Xisco won’t be in the squad despite his hat-trick for the U21s the other night.

Full team news will be published below as and when it becomes available, and the other bit of good news is that the game is on the telly so if you can’t get to the ground to take advantage of the cheap tickets you will at least be able to watch it in one way or another. It’s on ESPN for those that have it although don’t worry too much if you haven’t as I’m sure there will be a stream knocking about. If you find one, share it, please. I need one as I’m in France right now and I can’t find a lot on their TV!

Which neatly wraps it up.

Howay the lads!

  1. About as comfortable as a 1-0 can be last night. Well done Pards and well done to the young lads who are performing brilliantly when called upon! 😀

  2. Missed the match last night but loved finding out the score etc through the comments 😆 seems sammi had a very good game.
Great that the area we’re very short in has managed to keep 3 clean sheets on the trot 😎

  3. AMF- what I love about that video is that the entire time he is trying stand up, he never takes his hand off the beer. A true warlock right there 😆

  5. Why dont Sky consider the europa league worthy of consideration for goal of the week, If there was a silkier goal this week that ours last night than i havent seen it.

Lovely one two by the Ameobis, neat flick, run and pass by Sammy, Great run by Cisse to take the defender away and a cool finish by Obertan. Quality written all over it.

  6. CC i would guess Sky only really show anything that is on sky and rarley cover anything they dont have the rights to. Im surprised they even report on the Europa league. Be a different story if Europa league wa son sky , they would have you thinking its the greatest compition in the world ever!!!!

  7. JT-Yeah, Sky are terrible for that, if they don’t cover it apparently it doesn’t happen. It’s been funny to watch the transformation since they got the rights to F1 really..

Agree with you tho CC, was a quality goal.

  8. A decent performance, especially from Sammy and Obertan. Good enough at the back as Brugge didn’t seem that interested in attacking. Cisse had 1 decent chance in each half but still having his problems. Fergie is our best crosser of the ball by far. Hope to see a good effort against West Brom. Our form definitely seems to be returning now. Who to play in place of Tiote? I would think Jonas and Cabaye will be in the centre of midfield. We will need a good performance from Ba.
