Newcastle 3-0 Wigan – Match highlights

A rare sight indeed! Some match highlights from a match involving Newcastle United! Hoorah!!!

A Demba Ba double and a fine strike from Gael Bigirimana was enough to defeat ten man Wigan and lift the gloom around Tyneside, temporarily at least.

However this win doesn’t mean anything changes. We’re still looking over our shoulders and with only a five point cushion between us and the bottom three we could soon be dragged back to where we were or even worse

What we have now though is something to build on heading to Craven Cottage next week. It won’t be easy, it never is at Fulham, but it’s important to get a result given our run of fixtures over the festive period.

Let’s just take it one step at a time though…

  1. Johno – A televised FA Cup game is really gonna be added pressure for our new RB, CB, RW and CF, but at least it will allow us fans to get a good look at them 😀

  2. Some of the recent comments from Pardew again strike me as very strange. He claims we were very unlucky to lose to Stoke. We fell apart in the last 10 minutes and it cost us the game, simple as that. There was no bad luck about it. He also states he considers the recent criticism of the team as very unfair. We are in 14th place Alan and we will finish the calendar year in the bottom third unless a miracle happens. We did little to strengthen the team last summer despite going into Europe Alan. Do you get it now? We just came off a run of 4 losses in a row, 2 at home. We have a negative goal difference and only 1 goal scorer in the team who has an escape clause. Is any of the criticism making sense now? We have a completely useless managing director and a less than enthusiastic owner. Surely it’s beginning to dawn on you there are a few problems Pardew.

  3. Aye BB and I’m getting sick of it. He even says it wasn’t one of his more important wins. What is that supposed to mean? That it wouldn’t have mattered if we had lost a fifth in a row, 3 at home and been passed by Wigan, a team with very few resources? What is this man’s problem with telling the truth? Why not say it was a very important win, that we have been playing poorly and it must improve, and that he is urging Ash/Llam to strengthen in January?

  4. Changed my shirt last night and wore last seasons Black one with Northern Rock on. Sorted.
My son only went and won £160 with his 3-0 prediction too. tw@t. 👿 lol.
    Happy mondays indeed.
Still not convinced about Cisse tho. Does he really not understand the offside rule or what. Plus he had a couple golden oportunities to bag a few goals himself, but is so shockingly **** poor infront of goal it begs belief.
Agree that he worked harder, but how much longer can we keep carrying a striker who cant score. ffs 👿
Was anyone else bricking it when Ba took that pen ❓
Bigi’s goal was fantastic. So happy for him

  5. G2 – I’m sure over a quite pint Pardew would agree with all of that mate, but in front of the players and journalists he has to come up with this ****.
I totally agree with you by the way, I just think that Pards is stuck in a very different position

  6. I think we’re on the same wavelength Sharpy and BB. I agree he is in a different position but it boils my blood sometimes to hear him spout off. We get enough bollocks from Llambias. I can’t wait for the excuses to begin in January when we lose Ba and don’t replace him properly.

  7. G2 – it’s always done my tits in mate, and every manager is guilty of it to be fair.
‘Arry was honest when he took over at QPR saying they were playing rubbish, but even that was covering his ****.
Listening to Martinez last night as well about the penalty. If the boot was on the other foot, he wouldn’t be saying ‘Newcastle were hard done by, it was never a pen or sending off’.
The game is full of bull **** mate, and I agree, Jan will be the month of bull ****.

  8. Basically agree with what JJ said in the last thread.

It was close but it was a pen and then a red card. We may have struggled against 11 but due to that tackle we didn’t need to find that out. In fact I thought Wigan should have gone to 9, Caldwell was lucky, but there we go. No major complaints, so long as we can field a strong side against Fulham.

Let’s not risk anyone vs Bordeux please….

  9. “agree with what JJ said” people won’t read the rest of your comment if you start off with that, schoolboy error 😆

  10. Went to my seat via a different access area last night to see if it made any difference. So therefore I would like to take a fair amount of credit for last nights result.

  11. Richie 😆

Only said it because it’s almost unheard of! Next thing you know I’ll be agreeing with Dave… 😯 😆

Stuart-fancy trying that for the rest of the season mate 😉

  12. RICHIE you know all about schoolboys, you still wear your uniform to get stuff at half price so dave tells me 😆 😆

  13. well i think that result will do the players a world of good no matter how we got it,thing is will it make jabba put his hand back in his pocket, ime just going to enjoy this small up-lift

  14. Was nice to get the win last night and for me it was defo a pen and red card. But it’s only papering over the cracks ,we are not out the woods by any means ,still got to beat Fulham to reach 20 points and 23points by xmas would be great.

  15. What’s the bet that any time soon Munich will show up and tell us all how much better Dortmund are than Man city, again 😀

  16. Big game tonight Dortmund against Man City… Dortmund will still cuff the wasters, even with a half a team out… 😉

  17. Great win last night for the toon, but we are still a long way from being back on track again. Marveaux on the left, HBA on the right against Fulham, hopefully that team will be good enough to bring a point home.

  18. I think I’d play the same side against fulham, just with Benny in place of Jonas, keep Marv in the middle and keep Cisse on the wing and rotate him with Ba I suppose.

  19. Newkie, you got lucky big man. Normally I’m knocking the zeds out at this time of night… 😆 😆 😆

  20. Liked the look of Wigan right back Stam yesterday.

£2million quid from Twente Enschede, plus he’s just been called into the cloggy squad. It only goes to show you don’t have to pay over the odds for good players. Why couldn’t we have picked him up ? Where are wor scouts looking these days ? Maybe Anita can give the club a few tips on the cloggy scene.

  21. Ritchie – loving the festive avatar by the way 😎

Munich – from the way Manchini was talking before this game, he was desperate to avoid Europa footy and playing on Thursday nights – don’t know why?!, never done us any harm 😳 🙄

      (Quote)

  22. Munich 😆

It was a ***** match to be honest, both sides seemed to put 10 men behind the ball, sometimes not even pressuring for it back-Lewandowski would have had a hattrick if he’d kept his nerve as well. Was funny watching arsenal throw away another lead. Glad City are out of Europe as their reserves would still whip us, maybe Anita knows some secrets we can use against Ajax, if we get that far…

  23. Richie does your Lass not mind you putting her pic up again 😀
MM yeah Stam looked pretty good mate I also think Kone isn’t a bad player

  24. MM @ 26 I love it too 😉 The winners of the best league in the world can’t make it to the the last 16 in Europe.

      (Quote)

  25. MM – that’s also the lad I was on about couple of weeks ago who scored to knock City out.
I reckon we should sign him now 😆

Also, I see Carroll has been fighting on his trip to Dublin 🙄

      (Quote)

  26. Dave… 😉

Bris…Not even to the last 48 really, when you add the 32 team Europa knockout 😆

      (Quote)

  27. Sharpy…That was JohnoToon’s fault for calling him a ***** when he seen him in Dublin.

Citeh will likely have the same problem next season as they have done little to improve their coefficient ranking so could well be in another group of death. 😆

    Yeah, I saw that.

I loved the explanation by the West Ham spokesman:

“Andy agreed to have a number of pictures taken. Despite this, the photographer then carried on taking photos and was politely asked to stop by the private security team.

“When he then continued taking more photos he was restrained by the security team for Andy’s safety.” 😆
