Game On! Fulham v Newcastle

Game On at Craven Cottage
Another Monday night and another Premier League game involving Newcastle United being broadcast around the world takes place this evening, but will the result be in the same direction as the last one?

That last one being a rather comfortable 3-0 victory over ten man Wigan Athletic at St James’ Park a week ago. It perhaps wouldn’t have been as comfortable as the scoreline suggested had the visitors had a full compliment of players, but a win is a win and it’s points on the board we so badly need.

The win last week was annoying though as we failed to move up any places in the table. It’s valued all the same, but to win a game and not move up the table feels as though you are running on a treadmill, trying to go the right way but ultimately not going anywhere. Tonight though at least a victory would move us up one place leapfrogging Fulham in the process but it will be a tough ask as detailed in my match preview which you can view by clicking the blue text.

The good news in that preview is the potential return of a number of key players such as Davide Santon, Demba Ba and Cheik Tiote, who were all left at home for the trip to Bordeaux midweek, along with a potential return to action for Hatem Ben Arfa who has missed the last few games with a hamstring strain. Of course the only way we’ll find out who is fit is by looking at the official team news which will be added in below as and when it becomes available.

As mentioned at the very top, we are being broadcast globally this evening so hopefully there will be streams available for those who aren’t fortunate enough to be at Craven Cottage this evening, for those outside of the UK or for those inside the UK who don’t have access to Sky TV. Normal rules apply with regard to posting links for fellow NUFC fans.

Which just about wraps this up really as I don’t need to add much more. Needless to say I’m hoping for a committed performance from the start this time and I’d also quite like to see Damien Duff not turn into Superman just because he is playing us. A result would be nice also…

Howay the lads!

  1. Wow. Hatem pure brilliance… Come on! I think Bramble has possessed Tiote. Jonas has also been gash again… Impressed with Simpson… We need Marv on for Jonas and we can win this!

  2. It’s about time we could rid of that stupid stat of not winning when we go behind, and if we keep this up theres no reason why that won’t be tonight

  5. No way we deserve to be losing this.

  7. Since Benny is out we dont even have one half of chance a part from Colo shot.
Marveaux in please, he can bring something.
Our striker cannot keep one ball

  8. 2 – Damien Duff has as many assists for Fulham this evening as he did in 68 Premier League appearances for Newcastle. Update.
    Hate that bitter ****.

  9. What are the odds we go all season without scoring from a set piece I wonder 🙄 I may just have a punt as reckon I’ll get paid out at the rate we are going.

  10. Get Santon on the right fcking wing and Marv on the left so we can get some decent balls in ❗

  11. 18 ft 10 inches up front and we cannot win the ball in the box against Haggers and a ex Toon (you are not good enough) player, woweee what a pile driver from Shoala – it just about reached Swartzakof (yes you have guessed I think Shola is a waste of time)

  12. Pardew has shown himself to be tactically inept again tonight for me like!
Why take Benny off when he’s having such a big influence on this game?!, to rest him for the City game?! We could win this one FFS!!
Jonas has been ***** tonight and shouldn’t have started ahead of Marv in my opinion!.
Ba and Cisse have been none existent … why? coz he’s playing them in the wrong fucking positions again!!
CBs haven’t been great again tonight either

  13. wtf this changes 5 minutes left…? the players were so good in the pitch that he doesnt want to break the teamm….

  14. Some one tell Shola, Cisse plays for us ffs, that guy is a total waste of time,
How the hell is Jonas still on the field, used to like him as well.

Pardew you have to be on borrowed time, clueless, Jonas on his backside again 16th time tonight,

  15. I hate this change when its 5 minutes left. what can do Marv with 5 minutes he touches 2 balll. WTF pardewww

  16. Sharpy – Taking Benny off was ALWAYS going to happen regardless. The guy has just come back from a hamstring injury. Yes he was playing well but it’s standard to give players an hour or so to aid recovery. So we play him all game and he breaks down and is out for longer? Is that a good idea like?

  17. Before everyone comes on here being negative I thought we played fine and didn’t really deserve to lose. Yes it’s a worrying run and Pardew made mistakes but there has been improvement these last few weeks.

  18. ST – I understand that mate, but are we likely to win this game or the City game (well neither now like) but you know what I mean. How many goals does Shola get us? No way Benny should have came off when Jonas has been so ***** tonight

  19. Man of the match = Pardew with his wonderful awe inspiring substitutions.

  20. for sure we didnt deserve. But with our defence actually very difficult to have one single clean sheet. Just to weak defensively, even if we had some great chances, dont forget that Krul make 2 crucial save and the post from Petrov.
