Game On! Norwich v Newcastle

Canaries v Magpies
Canaries v Magpies
Newcastle take on Norwich this afternoon in what is a battle between two teams that have lost form in recent times.

In fairness Norwich went on a ten game unbeaten streak prior to their poor run, a luxury that hasn’t been afforded to Newcastle United this season.

I was going to write a match preview for the game, as I usually do, but my alarm clock either didn’t go off or didn’t wake me up so unfortuntely I haven’t had the time to do so. In a brief kind of preview though we are awful at Norwich generally, we’ve been awful all season and the stats don;t look pretty. That just about covers it really…

Dominating the build up to the game has been the stroy regarding the future of Fabricio Coloccini. Personally I think a big indication will be his inclusion, or exclusion, from the team today. I reckon if he plays then things may be getting blown out of proportion but if he doesn’t, what with being fit apparently, then something could be amiss and we may have to wave goodbye to the club captain.

Speaking of team news, it’s looking a little bit better on the injury front as Yohan Cabaye may make an appearance at some point today, Papiss Cisse will play and there should be a debut for Mathieu Debuchy after his signing from Lille just over a week ago. You can of course see full team news below as and when it becomes available.

Being a Saturday 3pm kick-off means that unfortunately we aen’t being broadcast here in the UK. However a rake of overseas channels are showing the game so hopefully a stream will be available. Normal rules apply, those being that if you happen to find a decent stream don’t be shy and share it amongst your fellow NUFC fans.

Which just about wraps it up. Will Newcastle manage to secure a first away win of the season or will we be faced with more travelling woes come full-time? We shall soon find out…

Howay the lads!

  1. Is Colo our only creative passer?
If only we had players with half a pea of intelligence when making runs.

Its like they are all playing with lead boots. Has it all been coached out of them?

Even Debuchy seems to have been told not to get forward too much.

I honestly am starting to think our coaching staff don’t have a fecking clue!

  2. We just don’t seem to have anyone will to do the running off the ball to create some space. Our movement is beyond aweful.

Santon is the only player who seems to understand about running into space.

  4. the entire team have thrown the towel in and we are going down. AP needs to go as he has lost his power and he no longer holds the dressing room. the one thing we need more vthan any decent player is a real coach and we have only had fat sam who he sacked straight away. all the rest have been jokers and true to rights… cheap options.

  5. Well on the balance of play I would say we look the more likely to score but by god it’s dire stuff and very obviously two very out of form teams. 🙄

Yeah twice he played cracking balls and neither Jonas or Debuchy were even half alert.

  7. Everyone is playing as an individual.

Solano (the real one) said it last week. They don’t play as a team. And for me, that is purely down to coaching and training.
If they don’t listen to Pardew then they clearly don’t respect him.

  8. It’s like a game between two seriously out of form teams where they will take a point each thank you very much and shake hands. 😐

  9. I have rarely seen a team in a relegation scrap, with so little fight since we last got relegated.
We seem to have set out for a 0-0
Pardwho will be patting everyone on the back and telling them what a good job they are doing 😳

I see a lot more passion and determination in Championship games. Its more like a preseason friendly between two Scottish league teams.

My biggest problem with Pardew. He seems to play “not to lose” instead of to win. A philosophy which is a recipe for disaster.

The fact is also, if true, he only does the defensive training (four days of the week) working out how to combat the opposition’s strengths. Leaving a day for Carver to train the attack and work out ways to win. This is a joke.

Clearly he is a failure as a defensive coach. And he should be more concerned about creating threats for the opposition than snuffing out their threats.

Our players just don’t seem to know what their role is.

  12. Alreet all, just got in but ready for the 2nd half.
    How’s the first half went?
I’ve seen the other scores are going our way at the mo so there’s still hope.

Just looking at other scores as well and Chris Wood has a hat trick for the foxes already today. £2m from WBA – I still think we missed out on a quality 21yr old player there like. I don’t mean to replace Ba, but certainly instead of Danny Graham – half the price and about 6-7yrs younger. Really seems to have his head screwed on.

Anyway, back to this game – how we looking?

  13. Not pretty, but to be honest I’m past caring whether its attractive footy. As long as we in I’ll take it any way it comes…

Santon looking good and Obama not too bad so far …

  14. really i have enough Jonas I cant anymore. I dont know what he thinks when he has the ball in his feet, ok” i put a long ball for noone with my left foot, maybe Papis can control and it will be a good pass”

  15. These 2000 quid boots clearly aren’t up to scratch if they can’t take a decent corner for these Premier league pro’s… 😆

  16. Obertan is clearly a big **** to. He cannot do nothing with a ball, cannot shot, cannot elimnate bassong, cannot cross. He just can run.

      (Quote)

  17. Hopefully Norwich has zero talent to going forward. I m sure this game will turn with a set piece, the only possibility i can see

      (Quote)

  18. Why would you take off Obertan and not Jonas. For all his frustration, he at least worries defenders/

      (Quote)

  19. ffs why do we keep trying the long aerial ball to Cisse.
He never gets it, so we do it again and again
    👿

      (Quote)

  20. Cisse chases down, the Norwich defender has only one option and not one Toon player bothers to close down the keeper who is the obvious pass option.

    Its just basics.

      (Quote)

  21. you see someone to worry about Obertan or Jonas. For me completely same, no defender is worried about them. You see norwich players double up on Obertan, because i dont see that.

      (Quote)

  22. i think that on the way we play these days we will drop right through the CCC and do a leeds…. at least then it will get rid of ashley i guess.

      (Quote)

  23. Not one player has had a decent first touch today. We have no pace besides Obertan and he is now off.

    Desperately need a pacey forward.

  24. @DJG
Perch is one of our few players that can hold his head up high this year. He’s not the most talented, but always puts in a shift, and usually plays to the best of his ability.

      (Quote)

  25. the pace is nothing if you dont know how to use it. We dont need pace, we need good players thats enough, who can control a ball under pressure (and even without pressure) and make a good pass. And we can have someone who knows how to shot or elimate a player it can be good.

  26. Thomo on SSN moan ing about quality of this game and the fact it’s being broadcast all over the world 😳 😳

  27. Pards looks like a tired hopeless man. Even when he’s trying to gee the players up he does it half heartedly.

      (Quote)

  28. If you were Loic Remy, would you want to come to MUFC right now ????
    This is tripe

      (Quote)

  29. I look to Loic Remy the last games, and he is perfect for this level at the moment with his sharpness. In 1 or 2 months it can be different, but at the moment Loic Remy is completely ****.

      (Quote)

  30. Christ,
Nobody bothers to close him down. Perch just stands and watches him hit it.

Colo had to try run from 8 yards behind him because he could see nobody else was going to bother.

This is hopeless. Pards needs to go, I’ve seen enough.

      (Quote)

  31. Yep. Pards has lost it, we wont be making many signings and are in real danger of going down – so lets at atleast get a manager in who can get this lot playing football again…
