Game On! QPR v Newcastle

Game On at Loftus Road
Game On at Loftus Road
The message as we head into our penultimate game of the season is really quite simple – win at Loftus Road and we eliminate ourselves from the possibility of being relegated.

We can the head into the final game of the season – at home to Arsenal – without any real pressure knowing that we have Premier League football to look forward to next season.

A win at QPR, with their squad of expensive signings who will no doubt be looking for a way out of the club in the next few weeks, should be simple. Already resigned to relegation, and with the poorest home record in the league, they have nothing to play for other than pride whilst we have everything still on the line. However our away record this season suggests that we won’t win this game although I am of course waiting to be pleasantly surprised.

For some more background on the match, along with injury news, a look at the history of the fixture between the two clubs, some facts and stats for both sides and some random thinking at the end, why not head over and read my match preview which is online here.

The game itself is not being shown live on the TV here in the UK. However there are a number of overseas TV channels who have chosen to broadcast the match so catching a stream shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Hopefully. If you happen to find a good stream then please feel free to share it with your fellow Newcastle fans by leaving a link in the ‘comments’ section below.

Team news will be provided by myself today before I head off to work and miss the match, which is probably a good omen for us to be fair. I will endeavour to add the teamsheet in full at the bottom of this article.

Now is the time to deliver.

Howay the lads!

  1. I think Harry muffed it today. Once he brought the two subs on, Townsend and Da Silva QPR looked a very potent attacking force down the right hand side. Too little too late, thank goodness for us…

  7. regardless of what >>>>>>>toonarmynutjob thinks of colo – i’d like to thank him for coming back & saving us from relegation.

mr pardew – things to do.

    – try & make sure the lads win the last home game (fat chance) against the ****.

    – hand in your company car keys to delboy.
    – take a taxi to the central station.
    – buy a one way ticket to the smoke.
    – never darken our door again.
    – enjoy your time on sky sports with the rest of the failed bulls knackers.

now i’m gonna take a leaf out of rodzilla’s book & have a few ales followed by a very large kebab.

  8. Truth is not a single player has played well at all. Ben Arfa has been good at times when he hasn’t been injured (which isn’t very often)… So I don’t really know why Cisse is getting stick. He’d have 18-20 goals this season if officials had got their decisions correct.

  9. So we are safe and tomorrow the dust begins too settle on this season and come the end of the week the owner and manager will have had their talk probably . I hope Pardew is gone straight after theArsenal game ,but i dont think it will happen . I reckon Ashley will grant him another go ,hope therefore the team rebuilding begins early and Carroll is brought back straight away and we move for Remy as well . Then a complete overhaul of the CD positions would love Collo too stay but dont think that will happen either for me Williamson and Taylor sold and 2 quality CD’s brought in . If Colo goes 3 quality CD’s in . Midfield needs an overhaul too Gosling ,Tiote ,obertan ,Jonas and because of his injuries possibly HBA shifted on . We need quality brought in and never let this season happen again ,we are not far off having a top 8 squad but god this summer needs too be a busier summer than last transfer wise .

  20. BB@489, you got it in a nutshell mate. Anything else is just waffle …

As with most team QPR battered us in the second half, and sphincter control of the highest order was called for today 😆

  21. Reports on Twitter that Pardew has said He has said he hopes we don’t qualify for Europe through the fair play. He also isn’t bothered if we lose 4-0 next week. Sack the **** now

  23. Yes Dave it’s hard to argue with a lot of it ,injuries, nerves ,and what have you . Not sure we would of been top 8 though as a lot of teams have upped their game this season and Europa with a thin squad quality wise was always a problem. If Wigan go down ,next season in the fizzy pop with Europa as well will kill them imo. Pards hasn’t helped his cause by sticking by out of form players and going far too negative .

      (Quote)

  24. bb @ 489 tbh i did worry at times but I always believed that we would stay up. and yeah I know that that means that it was with the help of atleast 3 shittier teams than us

      (Quote)

  25. Kim… Do you want the link? 😆

Hardly likely to be true, why would he say that, we’re bottom or near as **** it of the fairplay anyway aren’t we?

      (Quote)

  26. Kim answer me this do you believe that if we had Benny all season we could have won atleast 2 – 3 more games ? because I honestly do

      (Quote)

  27. DAVE aye you got the same score as lawro 😯 dont think you should be having a love-in with pardew you seem to be having like 😀 😀

  28. Can’t believe people are saying Cisse was ineffective today. He scored, what I consider to be, a legitimate goal and lead the line well up until the last 20 mins or so, where we looked very nervous.

For me, the worst player was Debuchy. The penalty he gave away was never a penalty, but his overall performance was poor. He kept getting beaten to the ball and always looked a liability. He will be glad to get a preseason under his belt.

  29. @Bootsy

I agree this has been our **** horriblez. But don’t have a go cos I remind those who predicted the worst.

I’m really not here to do that, I’m here to look forward and reflect. We were **** this year. There are a few of us who haven’t reacted irrationally and demanded instant sacking.

I put my hands up and admit, it could have went the wrong way for us, but I genuinely didn’t see an answer with Ashley in charge and therefore didn’t call for Pardews head.

I know Ashley has never once, not for a second, a millisecond, thought Pardew was a top manager. None of us have. I believe even when he won manager of the year, we all gave Pards credit and we all doubted, to a degree and I emphasise a degree, that Pards was actually a decent manager. (Of course the obvious crew who never admit wrong will deny this but crack on) but Ashley, has never and will never have a team that consistently breaks into the top 4.

I have no doubt , Ashley sees us another Everton. That is his aim. A club that balances the books in the transfer market and flirts with the Europa Cup.

That is is aim in my opinion.

Its went drastically wrong this season and Ashley will reflect on his gambles. He knows we won’t put up with relegation battles. He’s shown that by witnessing the attendances slump to around 44k. He realised the loyal support was at breaking point and (great credit to him) reduced the season tickets and offered some great deals particularly for families. That has to be credited.

Its now I look back and I don’t want to gloat who said this and who said that, cos I know everyone had the club at heart, but I really do want to stick to my point that I’ve made throughout.

Pardew had a stormer in the first season. He performed beyond everyone’s expectation. There were many reasons for it. Particularly the form of certain players who were simply outstanding.

The second season couldn’t have been more different. A disaster and just as much as Pards received the adulation in the first season he got the criticism in equal quantities this season.

I now hope, I really hope, that Ashley gives Pardew a third season to prove himself however that will require a real investment into the first team squad.

We don’t want to be a mid table side. I won’t accept it. I certainly won’t accept another season like this.
I expect our club, the size it is, in the top 20 of the worlds rich list, to at least compete for the Europa cup next season. That is a reasonable expectation.

Everyone in life makes mistakes. Ashley has made many in his reign but has just done enough in the long term to rectify many.

Next season for me is absolutely crucial. If he sticks with Pardew he must invest heavily in the squad (the new TV revenue should assist with that). Its then down to Pardew to sort the team and leave him with no excuses which he has quite rightly relied upon this season.

Or, Ashley realises that if he wants to take this club to the next level without investing heavily in the transfer market, is to pay top dollar for a proven manager who will also balance the books. Its feasible, as Wenger has done for 16 yrs

I would prefer the latter, but I can predict thru experience that Ashley will stick with Pards and try and convince us he will strengthen the squad in the summer.

I won’t accept another season like this and will be in fiull cape, trunks and wrestling boots knocking on Ashley’s door if this happens again!

  31. Ice you know how I feel mate give me a top manager and i will come over to drive Pards home and the new guy in but I can’t see it happening.

The Kid Debuchy has been worrying me I don’t know if it’s all the pressure or what but he is a bit suspect. Do you know if Mbiwa has played at LB before because he seems steady as fuk there

      (Quote)

  32. Troy interesting points made and i agree with a lot of them but i want Pard’s out . For me he is just not a good enough coach and does not get the best out of the squad he now has . But as i commented earlier i dont see Ash sacking him so i hope too god that investment in players comes .

      (Quote)

  33. Big Dave

    Pardew did make those comments.

…Well, he didn’t say he hoped NUFC miss out on Europa, but he did say something along the lines of “I’m looking forward to a season with the Europa League”.

    I think he is try

      (Quote)

  34. *I think he is trying to talk himself out of the job and into a big payday. I don’t think he truly believes in his ability to take us forward.

      (Quote)

  35. Big Dave

Yes, Yanga Mbiwa has played a lot of games at LB and it’s easily his second best position.

So he’s happy we’re not in Europe and hes not bothered if Arsenal beat us 4-0 🙄 some ambition our manger has..

    I give a f*k if Arsenal beat us 4-0

      (Quote)

  38. One last thing, I hope Arsenal beat Wigan as I think they are the team I most want to see go down.

    – Villa, as much as I hate their **** poor fans, have done well to survive with an incredibly young team. I’m intrigued to see how they develop/progress next year.

    – and Sunderland need to stay up so we can get revenge for the 3-0 mauling at SJP.

    – Wigan going down means no more of that odious pr*ck, Dave Whelan
    – No more praise for Martinez for doing sh*t for 75% of the season only to survive by the skin of their teeth.
    – and no more away games at a crappy, half filled sh*thole of a stadium.

Also, I want Arsenal to secure 4th ahead of Spurs, who I also hate with a passion 😆

  39. Hope you and all the FOOLS supporters are satisfied with that terrible performance, you know who you are, Troy and Big Dave ❗
Are you proud where we have finished under the idiot Pardew ❓
