Clearly lessons haven’t been learned!

Get to work Joe!
Get to work Joe!
Generally speaking I’m one of those ‘wait and see’ guys when it comes to Newcastle United.

Despite overwhelming evidence which suggests I perhaps shouldn’t be as patient I still find myself waiting to be pleasantly surprised only to be let down again and again.

Until now that is…

There is very little I can do to change what is going on at the club at the moment. I’m still waiting to come into the kind of money it would take to buy the club myself like I’m sure many others would do if they had the means and opportunity to do so.

Unfortunately writing this article, or any article in fact, won’t change things either but it does at least give everyone a platform to express their views.

With the start of the season roughly one month away I feel that we are sleepwalking into disaster. That’s not ‘we’ as fans, I mean ‘we’ as a club because unfortunately, as fans, we are unable to separate away from the club we all love and are tarred together with it and the decisions that are being made on behalf of all of us.

Lessons were supposed to have been learned from last summer where a lack of transfer activity cost us dearly and very nearly ended in disaster. Yes I get that some of the flurry of January activity was brought forward from this summer, but it shouldn’t mean that our recruitment drive can sit back and relax.

There are positions that need filling, some more desperately than others. There was a chance to get players “over the line” before pre-season even began which is obviously the ideal time to sign a player to ensure they are fully settled before the season even kicks off. Any signings we make now will have to hit the ground running and if they don’t they will feel the pressure. That’s if we actually do make any signings for the senior squad…

We hear constantly about how good our transfer policy and scouting network is, but somewhere along the line something is going wrong as new players aren’t materialising. Derek Llambias carried a lot of the can for it, but now he’s moved on there seems to be little difference although I will, begrudgingly, concede that Joe Kinnear hasn’t had a lot of time to weave his “magic” in his new role as Director of Football.

I’m just royally pi**ed off at the moment. If last season wasn’t the kick up the backside those upstairs needed then what will it take? A good balance sheet is all well and good but it means little and will deteriorate quickly in the Championship.

Things need to start happening soon, not just for us fans, but also for the players and manager. A couple of notable first-team signings will lift the mood undoubtedly amongst fans, will show our current players that there is a motivation to improve as a club, and will also give Alan Pardew some tools to work with that he desperately needs at his disposal.

Sadly though I’m starting to doubt it will happen…

  1. Joe Kinnear, you show everyone that’s doubted you, that you’re the right man for the job?? show us that you can win the title and fa cup on a very low transfer budget.

  2. Kim, just read that.. seemed a strange appointment from the off.. glad to see it actually, there are players that need signing long before that fella..

Stuart, there’s some positive news for you 😆 😆

  3. Holy **** 😯 wasn’t Harford supposed to be Joe’s assistant coach once Pardz had quit in frustration 😆
You couldn’t weigh that up if you tried 😆 dearly me 😛

  4. aussie and kim, mick hartford might just be a blessing in disguise? given he is cheap and in ashley’s price range. i’m to embarrassed to wear a newcastle shirt encase people take the **** out of me. the SBR era was my best time supporting this club and ashley can take us to the championship if he likes i will still support the club. my only wish is he sales up and the right owner comes along but until that day we have put up with these fools

  5. Any chance of a new article so I can see if anyone else is as **** off as me with this new crazy gang link!.
To think we haven’t signed yet coz JFK has been too busy trying to recruit another 2nd half car dealer is just ridiculous.
This summer so far has been about MA and JFK giving their mates jobs rather than buying first team players FFS.

      (Quote)

  6. sharpy mike ashley doesn’t care about the fan’s because if he did he would buy a new striker.

      (Quote)

  7. I regret to inform you that Mick Hartford will not be joining the club. He is an experienced coach and very knowledgeable about football. I have a few striker’s in the pipeline, so don’t panic! Carr is doing a great job for the club and identified a number of players to improve the first team. I will be speaking to Alan when he returns from Portugal on wednesday. In the meantime I would like to thank the fan’s for their support.

  8. KIM told you someone was coming in fri/sun,ime very happy mick pulled out in 11th hour 😉 so the imfo was good but not the right kind

  9. What a Joke.

Things at the club have been on the decline since around September last year, then Ba goes, we’re almost relegated, then Dekka, then JFK, now Hartford.

    Pardew next?

Turmoil for almost a full year?

So JFK was brought in for transfers ? We’re coming up to Six weeks of this clown and he couldn’t even sign/convince his ‘mate’.

Now is the time to worry.

      (Quote)

  10. Ah Kim…..Cheers! Was just trying to find the link for you Guys for that…..Good article.

What is Jokin’ here for ?

It seems that it’s a bit more sinister than “just transfers”, and that he’s only here to make Pardews job hell. 6 weeks and we are worse off if anything.

Surely this has to be Pardew’s punishment for laying the blame of last season at Mikeys door?

We have a manager too greedy to leave, and an owner to greedy to fire him.

In the meantime, being relegation candidates is what we have to put up with.

  11. it doesn’t take six weeks to put in a bid for a player! they can either accept the bid or reject it. it’s not rocket science. we have been linked with loads of good players and done nothing. ashley should be blamed as much as pardew last season. he offered pardew an 8 year contract, bought 1 player in the summer and hired a chairman who know’s very little about bringing players to the club. we need to be united as a club, from the owner, chairman, manager etc to have any chance of success. kinnear back stabbing pardew so he resign’s will back fire on him and ashley if they are not careful. the club needs ashley to wake up and have some ambition and pride in owning newcastle. i’m gob smacked ashley is a billionaire as he lacks intelligence to run a football club

      (Quote)

  12. if you can’t handle the heat get out of the kitchen ashley. you greedy fat ****. sale the club and fo for christ sake

      (Quote)

  13. What annoys me the most is FAT CAT Ashley is suppose to doing his up most to sell season tickets, at this rate it will be a very poor show indeed. Is this season not the season where you get a lot more money is you are relegated???

    Sorry if this has been mentioned!! 😈 😈 😈 😐 😐

  14. I take it that useless ***** JFK still hasnt got us any players ? & its getting closer and closer to the start of the new season, and we seem to be the only prem team to not have added quality to our squad.
We could be in for a real hard season if we dont hurry up

@MsiDouglas looks like a deliberate move to completely isolate Pardew to me. Harford spoke to Carr, Ashley and Kinnear. Not the manager!

@LukeEdwardsTele You’re not wrong. Interesting that Pardew won’t talk about Harford out in Portugal either. Must be seething.

    Luke Edwards ‏@LukeEdwardsTele 1m
Suspect Pardew only survived this summer coz of 7yrs left on contract. The man responsible for that – Llambias – fell on sword instead

      (Quote)

  17. Ice yeah there is that 🙄 well some would have you believe that, I tend to think we would have been stronger now plus wouldnt have had to go through relegation either.

      (Quote)

  18. Dave ,I really feel you would have to be a fool to not realise what is going on in Jabbas mind with this JFK and what could of been Harford appointments. Never thought I would feel sorry for Pardew but I got to say it’s a tough situation for him now. All the same he needs to go but so does JFK.

      (Quote)

  19. Bigpapa – is this the luke edwards and mark douglas that have between them never managed an exclusive on the club but simply regurgitate news every single day from the previous.

Their opinion is about as informed as ours…..

I have to say though this whole fiasco of JFK is getting beyond a joke

      (Quote)

  20. It really doesnt appear that difficult;

We only really need 3 players IMO. 4 is a luxury and not exactly stretching us to the limit.

If indeed the rumours are true and we sign Gomis, Remy and Sinclair on loan that represents an initial outlay of just £15m (say sinclair on loan)

If we can keep our best players the 4th signing could be a utlity type defender useful in a variety of positions.

Would anyone agree with that? Would we be happy with that?

    Gk; Krul, Elliott
    RB; Debuchy, Santon
    CB; Mbwia, Willo
    CB; Colo, Taylor
    LB; Utlility Player, Hiadara
    RM; HBA, Jonas
    CM; Sisokko, Tiote
    CM; Cabaye, Anita
    LM; Sinclair, Marveaux
    ST; Gomis, Cisse
    ST; Remy, Gouffran

Suddenly as a 22 man squad that dont look too scary……..

      (Quote)

  21. What the **** must the players be thinking right now ? surely they must be wondering when the axe will fall for Pardew . Unless their is a clutch of new signings this week i can see alot more of our purples thinking up reasons to head for the exit door .

      (Quote)

  22. AXEL ,got to agree mate, I keep thinking there are no incomings cause Jabba wants Pards to walk and let the new manager pick his new players 😕 Could this be a possibility I wonder. The alternative is Jabba is one tight arsed ****. 👿

      (Quote)

  23. Axel – I think the only reason the likes of cabaye and HBA havent left is because of Pards.

    If he goes dominos…..

      (Quote)

  24. KIMTOON think you hit it spot on , on both counts . On the other hand why then let Pard’s take pre season in Portugal 😕 It just gets more confusing by the day . Surley Jabba can see we are on another downward spiral too the championship if this **** continues another week or two or is he really that feckless ❓

      (Quote)

  25. axel i think JFK is doing this on purpose and wont sign anyone. he ain’t gonna help pardew keep his job mate by getting him a striker

      (Quote)

  26. Terry , Next week ffs ,what the hells he been doing since getting back off holiday ,that’s a joke that. I mean why bother at all with a DOF he isn’t any better at getting players in than Lambias or is the problem actually Jabba all along.

      (Quote)

  27. kim, Joe’s probably talk’s about the old days, when he managed wimbledon to the tea lady, reserves, youth academy or anyone that want’s to listen to him. he gets forgetful at times and he did try hiring an assistant to remind him of what his meant to be doing. which is buying a striker but he has problems remembering what he is meant to be doing. he is 66 years old and jabba has got a soft spot for him and probably blamed himself for his heart attack. would you do a job if you got paid for nothing?

      (Quote)

  28. Why dont we just sack JK Pards and the rest of the crew. Bring in Someone sensible like Glenn Roeder as DOF and Marcelo Bielsa as Coach

      (Quote)

  29. Prem, Give your head a shake man ,that’s far too sensible 😉

Terry &Georgio ,I’m all but given up on it all now ,what with the hot weather it’s near fried my brain . 🙁

      (Quote)

  30. kim if thats how you feel think about poor joe out in the sun all day? would love a thunder storm

      (Quote)

  31. Can any one here actually remember Harford playing for us ?i have been raking my brains trying too remember him in a newcastle shirt and i cant . I know we had some right ***** CF’s playing for us in the 80’s but still cant remember him playing for us .

      (Quote)

  32. So 4 weeks till our 1st game of the season and we still haven’t signed a 1st team player thats fuking fantastic.
What has Joe been doing all this time

      (Quote)

  33. DAVE hes busy trying to get a little helper to share all the work hes doing, see hes put S. Stone down to help the kids away from the first team 😀 😀

      (Quote)

  34. BIGDAVE i heard they proimoted the tea lady to replace Stone and Joe has told Jabba to fly in every morning too make the Brew .

      (Quote)

  35. DAVE nothing said about who is to replace him,me thinks he was going to sneak Mick in there

      (Quote)

  36. Me too BIG DAVE i think if their is no new signings by the end of this week the squad will start to get restless and heads will drop . Its taking far too long now , their must be something going on in the corridors of power at SJP and its about to explode i think . I reckon by Friday if no signings are in Pardew will start letting things be known too the press in a round about sort of way . I start too get the feeling he will force them too sack him because they are trying to pressure him into resigning and its failing , if so then good luck too the bloke . They give him the contract ,i am not a great fan of his but i believe in honesty above all else .

      (Quote)

  37. I can never remember ever feeling so disillusioned about the Toon than I have this past month or so, I see Gosling should complete his move this week so that will be 4 1st team squad members away and not 1 brought in, wtf are we playing at

      (Quote)

  38. my only hope for this season is there is three worse teams than us,but cannot see that as things stand at the moment 🙁

      (Quote)

  39. Dave ,I can’t understand letting players like Perch and Simmo go when we havn’t already strengthend .It’s beyond foolish imo ,we may of needed them at some point ,as it is we go into next season looking **** weak up front unless things change nd we must be certs for relegation.

      (Quote)

  40. BIG DAVE Jabba does not even know what the word means , will be interesting to hear what Pard’s says when the **** hits the fan and it will soon . I am afraid too say next season is a relegation season , never in my 43 years can i remember the club being in the situation its in now . Not even in Mckeag’s era can i ever remember no new signings this close too the new season .

      (Quote)

  41. Well Ollie will have Palace well up for the fight you can bank on that , so that’s one of the newbies to worry about next season. 🙄

      (Quote)

  42. ICE ,It’s bloody depressing all round mate. A new season should be full of hope and excitement but it’s been reduced to something akin to visiting the Dentist for a root canal 👿

      (Quote)

  43. Kim we have never really had exciting windows to lookforward to from Jabba took over, its more about hoping that we can hold on to what we have rather than who we can get

      (Quote)

  44. Dave ,yeah even the rash of signings last January were tempered by the relegation battle ,plus they should of arrived in the summer previous . You would hope lessons were learned as this article asks wouldn’t you.

      (Quote)

  45. KIM i reckon he would be an upgrade on Cisse ,the thing is though we need a few homegrown players in . Simpson , Perch and Harper gone and Gosling too follow . we are down too the bare bones of home grown players in the first team squad . Oh yeah i forgot we have Jabba’s investment in his brilliant youth policy to fall back on 👿 👿 👿 👿 👿 👿 👿

      (Quote)

  46. Axel@497, I remember watching Harford playing for the Toon and to be honest he tried hard but was very average in my opinion.

Harford aint daft, he probably sounded out a few blokes on the Tyne and realised there was an absolute groundswell of negativity surounding his supposed appointment. Rather than have his career being stopped in it’s tracks by being associated with the equally popular Joe Kinnear he decided to make the smart move and stay where he was wanted. Good decision for all parties I would say, especially the toon fans. Further weakens JFK’s credibility too if you ask me. Thanks Mick, good luck at Milwall.

I bet the Chronicle feel a tad embarassed having it posted all over yesterday’s web site that Harford had joined the toon when in fact he hadn’t. There again I’ve stopped reading the petty stuff they churn out to be honest. You can only read so many stories of Pardew bigging up Shola and Jonas 👿 👿 👿

      (Quote)

  47. I fear that the club will really implode this season. The club really need to fly out of the blocks the early weeks of the season, put in some good performances to get the fans onside early doors. Failing that I fear the lethargy will spread from the stands to the pitch.

      (Quote)

  48. MM ,One thing is for sure Pards won’t get the luxury of time this season .Those that let early poor play and tactics go last season due to the 5th place finish won’t be so forgiving this time around .A great deal of resentment is building amongst fans due to the circus ongoing and if we have no or poor recruitment the heat on Pards will be incredible imo. Basically he will take the brunt of it ,partly cause he’s useless but the regime have so far dumped on him from on high and lit the touchpaper now.

      (Quote)

  49. MM in which team and under which manager , McFaul ❓ i can remember a lanky useless fecker called George Reilly under Charlton i think it was , but not Harford . I think my bad memories been wiped out by all keegan’s and SBR’S great teams and good times 😆 😆
