Video: Kinnear on Gomis, Remy etc etc

Joe Kinnear has opened his mouth again, although this time what he had to say was more interesting rather than cringe-worthy. Have a look…

Seemingly we are close on a couple of players, namely Loic Remy and Bafetimbi Gomis although he did concede that the situation with Gomis is “difficult” and is ongoing.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the interview is the revelation that we are still in for Darren Bent and still have a reasonable chance of signing the Aston Villa forward contrary to reports the other day which suggested our offer wasn’t deemed good enough by either club or player.

He did admit that the striker situation is the area of most concern and is the priority that is being looked at in this window, but he also admitted that there is another area of the pitch that is being lined up for strengthening.

The thing is this is Joe Kinnear and these are just words until I personally see some action. I have no doubt things are difficult when it comes to negotiations but Joe has a bit of a track record of rewriting things or bending the truth.

As ever I’ll wait and see…

  1. 3 hours – if he gets done for rape go all guns for ince and sinclair! 🙂

Sad we are even considering players with that record really

  2. I’m sure they must have looked at the likelihood of him being guilty and factored that in. Maybe the loan deal is cancelled if he is guilty and goes to jail. Any club would seek assurances about that before agreeing a deal. Mind this is the Toon 😆

  3. 3HWi would say Ince mate because Sinclair needs a opp to remove a rib and has a blood clot problem hence the little paying time at m/city they just dont know when is the best time for the opp

  4. ‘Debuchy to City’ going round on Twitter. Would leave us in the **** that like… Unless we swap him for Richards and Sinclair.

      (Quote)

  5. City would go for better quality than Debuchy surely…Good news on Remy front at least, loan deal suits us, hopefully cheapish option to buy should he prove a success. Get Gomis and a winger in now please and shut the window!

  6. 3HW – I think Ince would be the most expensive of the 2 and for some reason I think he operates better on the right. I’d take him over Sinclair to be honest, but personally I’d prefer Andros Townsend from Spurs. He’d cost half what Ince would and is a very good left midfield player.

  7. Any one else think that, come the start of the season if we don’t have a new winger then Sammy Ameobi should start LW? Really need a player that’s direct on that side and he is our best option ATM.

  8. Bigpapa-the jury is still out on him, but I won’t write him off like many already have. Personally I’d like to see him loaned out while we have a clean bill of health.

If we were to play 4-3-3 I’d have Cisse up top with Benny on the right and Remy/Marv/Goof fighting on the other wing. Sammy as an impact, I’m not sure he could be relied upon to start.

In 4-4-2 he’d be a better option than some of them though, Remy isn’t and I’m not sure Goof is good for the wing while Marv doesn’t get enough space there, he lacks the pace to be really useful on the wing in the prem. But I’m not sure which formation we’ll be using, no doubt whichever one we do use will be the wrong one because Pardew picked it and it’s not what the new football managers/Dortmund are playing this year 🙄 😆

  9. Big papa – nee chance mate, don’t think Sammi is ready at all and I’d loan him to a championship side for the season to be honest. I’d go with either Marv, Gouffran or consider moving Santon up there and playing MYM at LB.

  10. @garyjacob: Gomis deal to NUFC complicated. Lyons don’t want to pay him 5% of fee for severance + say allegations of a sex scandal affected club image

  11. Hi lads ,it’s all happening then I see. Been out with the lad to appointments all morning .

3 Hours@90 What sex scandal 😯 Not him AND Remy ,bloody hell ,sounds like the Toon have to lock up their daughters. 🙄

Aussie-But only when I know I’ve earned it fella. I put in the graft but these football stars, sheesh. Ahh to be young and minted.. 😥

  14. Kim – Remy and Gomis aren’t coming for NUFC, they are coming coz they are huge fans of Geordie Shore and reckon the toon looks like their kinda place

  15. I thought the Gomis delay was down to agents anyway? Still really don’t know what’s going on, just hope we can wrap it up and be done with it one way or the other.

Tentative talk in France that Gomis has agreed a contract with L’OM (fee to be sorted). #NUFC know negotiating with Aulas is never simple.

    ******!

  20. this aint going to happen guys. The reality train have spoken to ex-legends and Derek Acorah. apparently wages are to blame for Gomis and Derek reckons Kinnear is after Pardews job so he wont sign quality players. the second string of strikers are in talks. C Cole and James Beattie.

expect it to fall at the last hurdle.. 😛

  21. sharpy ashley will only loan 1 striker but at least the ba situation has been sorted. we will have all this again next summer. ashley is such a cheap skate.

      (Quote)

  22. Sharpy ,I’m inclined to agree ,not that fussed tbh and the sex scandal thing has soured the milk a little more for me as well .I had no idea he was involved in owt like that ,it’s bad enough with the Remy thing .Clubs image will be tarnished further if we keep signing sexual deviants 🙄

This Gomis thing is getting well griefy now like innit?!.
Sack it off and get Remy, Ince and Sinclair or Townsend on instead
    ——————————–
I think I’d rather have Ince than Gomis now that we got Remy. Still would proabably need a backup CF like Bent though

  25. if charlton cole and james beattie set the premiership on fire next season everyone would love them. pigs are flying but Joe really should consider it under ashley’s budget ?

  27. A fella on eds site is stating that fulham are trying to hijack the remy deal?
Not sure how true it is, he is saying they are willing to pay the release clause amount.. could be bs 😕

  29. Should be a lethal combo with HBA and Cisse in a front three, Another striker and a centre half and id be pretty happy.

  30. Thanks Ice, i can trust you to keep me on the straight and narrow. 😯

  31. CC – will make a massive difference to our team fantastic addition if it comes off and he stays injury free

      (Quote)

  32. Ice – it’s worse than that. Cabaye said recently that Pardew wanted them to take one or two touches, pass and move. Now there’s a new concept. Bloke’s a genius!

  34. Ice

Aye mate I would love a winger and another keeper to boot, Just think with JFKs business so far its best not to get my hopes up… 😉

      (Quote)

  35. That’s the problem Ice. It will be the same this season. We have good players but he’ll come up with some “I’m a genius” tactics like Cisse on the wing or Sissoko and we end up with backs to the wall hoofball.

      (Quote)

  36. Ice add sinclair into the mix and we have the entertainers back

    Krul

    Mbwia, Taylor, Colo

    HBA, Cabaye, Sissoko, Sinclair

    Remy, Cisse, Gomis

  37. Please do not buy any more english players – they are generally sh!te or massively overpriced for having a bit of potential i.e. Tom Ince at £10 million, £11 million for Zaha etc etc – proven British players such as Bale, Rooney, Gerrard etc are way out of league in terms of transfer fee / wages

      (Quote)

  38. STEVEP – with the rules we need English players (homegrown in this country) so we may need to buy some decent English players the way were going

12 French players in first team squad of 24 – its taking the **** now

don’t care who agrees or whether its racist

    there’s a limit IMO

would rather see local geordie lads like sami or adam campbell or dummet get game time than spend millions on average to poor french players

chelsea man utd arsenal and citeh all have local lads playing for them even with all the hundreds of millions they spend

    why cant we

      (Quote)

  39. Any more word on Remy ?
DIFSB I agree with you we allready have more than enough Frenchies in the side, and to think Pards had a go at Wenger for having too many Frenchies 😳

      (Quote)

  40. I’d happily see the back of Obertan and Amalfitano to be honest.
Get Ince in at around £8m and Andros Townsend on loan or buy for £4-5m.

      (Quote)

  41. Well it seems we will get Remy in and a loan deal is probably wise until we see what happens with his legal problems. It is frustrating not to have more home grown and English players in the side. If Campbell can at least make the bench that would be a start but it doesn’t look great for others. If the valuations on English players don’t come down I can’t see us being interested in too many. It’s a league wide problem. And promising young English players are relatively rare as well as we are miles behind other countries in our development programs. I don’t think Newcastle will take this on with an owner like Ashley especially.

  42. i remember when we had jenas (5 mil) dyer (6 mil) bellamy (6 mil) shearer, speed, aaron hughes, given, mixed in with likes of bernard robert solano.

nothing against foreign players – but there must be deals out there for local and British talent

that’s what Harford was to come in for supposedly so at least they are looking at it

i remember owl-heed saying last year for the catchment area we have we should be unearthing more talent

and for once he was right

      (Quote)

  43. Remy will be a good addition if he stays fit, oh and out of jail. plus he will be playing in a better team than QPR so may even get more goals out of him

    decent signing.

      (Quote)

  44. G2@143 would agree with al that.Teams like Man U ,Chelsea ,City ,Arsenal and even Liverpool will always attract the cream of youngsters to their academy ,we don’t stand a chance . But over the years a lot of very talented local lads have come out of Newcastle ,trouble is they nearly always end up at one of the top 4 clubs ,Shearer was a worthy exception to this turning down old whiskey nose twice. 😉

      (Quote)

  45. DIFSB , The problem nowadays is you hardly ever see young lads out kicking a football around .They are all stuck in doors playing Fifa or what ever, it’s the same reason we got an obesity problem with a lot of youngsters. When I was a kid I ate tons of **** but I was burning it off with ice skating , running ,dancing ,swimming .It’s not what you eat so much as what exercise you take . Unless they play football at school a lot of boys and girls never bother ,very sad really.

      (Quote)

  46. DIFSB@139 its not racist and i feel the same , thing is though Homegrown does not mean they are English . Tim Krul is classed as homegrown because he joined us when he was 15 or 16 and came through the youth ranks . I think Harris Vukic will fall into the homegrown pool as well (if he stays fit ) . Homegrown is not what it meant 20 years ago when the lads where found at local clubs and brought through like Gazza , Pedro ,Waddle , Lee Clark , Steve Howey and the likes .
