Another awful transfer window

Kinnear spotted doing some work...
Kinnear spotted doing some work…
So the transfer window has been and gone and with it so have our chances of adding to the squad we have.

On the positive side we didn’t lose any of our key players thus keeping hold of Yohan Cabaye who will no doubt be “like a new signing” in the coming days.

All we have to show for our endless scouting missions, our protracted negotiations and all the waffle that goes along with it is a loan signing from a relegated club who we don’t even have an option to buy at the end of the deal according to reports. It’s not great is it?

There is a new TV deal in place, a deal so lucrative it ensures that even the bottom club in the Premier League will pocket more than Manchester United did for winning the league last season. We have a sponsorship deal in place which, despite the controversial nature of it’s business, apparently “allow us to buy a new player each year” according to Derek Llambias.

So where has all the money gone?

Now don’t get me wrong. I know that the TV money is awarded in stages so it’s not like we have a £60 million pot of cash just sitting there, but it’s the same for other clubs aswell. Some of them have front-loaded the cash and put the bulk of it up themselves so they can improve now, others have spent what they wanted to with what hey have available and then there is us who have spent just £2 million.

Regardless of however people want to paint us I do think we are quite a realistic bunch. Many of us know that we won’t be spending £20 million on this or that player and to be honest that doesn’t bother me personally. However we do want to see strengthening of some description and maybe a willingness to back a Chief Scout who is noted for his eye for talent.

Here’s a difficult thought…. How about spending a bit on Carr’s recommendation and perhaps making more money back in the long run rather than outlaying the bare minimum? Speculate to accumulate if you like, only without leaving us short when the eventual injuries hit.

I’m not surprised by our transfer window at all which has probably been shown in my articles, or lack of them, about transfer links here and there. I’m not surprised we’ve signed nobody and I believe that was our plan all along.

Obviously I feel sorry for the fans as we pay our money into this club in many ways and we deserve more than having to wish for a perfect season when it comes to injuries or suspension. It was bad last season but at least we don’t have the inconvenience of the Europa League this years eh?

I feel sorry for the players who have basically been told that they are going to get no help even though they struggled last season. Can anyone blame Cabaye for wanting to be away? I bet he’s not the last one to be casting envious glances elsewhere.

I also feel sorry for Alan Pardew. Now he brings a lot of things on himself as he can’t control his mouth and no matter how hard he hops for “one or two” to be brought “over the line” the reality is that he has no say in how things like that work and just has to get on with the players he has at his disposal. I’m sure Pardew is no different to other managers who will always like to see their squad added to, unfortunately he just doesn’t get a choice about it.

So where do we go from here? I don’t know. People won’t walk with their feet, not enough to make a difference anyway and if they do it will just be reflected in the balance sheet which will then be used as a stick to beat us with and as an excuse to not spend again.

These are dark days and I only hope Ashley has failed to spend because there is something bigger going on behind the scenes, such as a sale. He’s done some great things for Newcastle like sort out the finances, but that needs to be balanced with improving the first team and on that latter score we’ve been woeful.

The end.

  1. Geordie – I think our lack of activity may be seen by Bennys representatives as an opportunity to ask for a big contract from us. They may even ask for more than Colo.
Think about it, he’s our most influential player, probably the only player at the moment that could turn a game in our favour. He’s the crowd pleaser and as you say, he’s 28yr old and probably has 2 or 3 good seasons left in him injury permitting.

The fact that we haven’t improved and haven’t added to the squad, particularly in his position or up front will probably encourage them to play hard ball. If we are lucky, they may settle for matching Colos wages, but I don’t see the negotiations going seemlessly mate.
Had we signed Sinclair, Ince or Redmond – or a couple of them then I think we would have been in a much better position.
But I could be wrong on that one as well like.

  2. Pretty reasonable argument Sharpy mate @226. I don’t see us as being in a strong position with Ben Arfa either. He is a very good player and would improve with the right manager and team framework around him. I think managers of other clubs probably want to see how he does with us this season before committing to a large bid for him. If he has a breakout season with us he is probably gone next summer. With only 1 year left on his contract at that point I’m not sure what we would get for him. Anyway I hope he has an absolutely brilliant season for us come what may.

  4. Pardew has supported the Ashley and Jokey and is happy with the squad.

He has no one to blame but himself if we struggle.

  5. Spot on Troy @229. He doesn’t dare say what he really thinks. He knows the bench is weak. No commitment from Ashley as usual.

  6. what else is Pardew supposed to say… he is paid to represent the club and players in the media… deary me…. 😕

  7. I don’t for one moment believe Pardew’s statement actually came from Pardew. It’s a club media release that he has to agree with, in much the same way that backbenchers agree with caucus decisions. If he doesn’t go along with it, he will be disciplined in some way. Should he stand up and say what he really thinks? He’s far too canny a man to do that (and I mean canny in the shrewd sense of the word, not that he’s nice or anything).

As for the statement that there is “no point in bringing in new players unless they can improve us and take us forward”. Sure, that’s true, but are we to believe that there is not a single defender in the whole world better than Williamson or Taylor? Is it possible that there are no left sided midfield players in the whole world that could add to the strength of the squad? Has Debuchy no peers in world football? Give me a break! If they believe that then there is no hope for their footballing intelligence, or maybe the ‘right price’ is measured in thousands instead of millions of pounds.

It seems to me that Kinnear is not up to the job he is supposed to be doing and/or that there are other issues going on behind the scenes. Nobody really knows what those issues are except those involved; we can only speculate (and many do – often and loudly).

One thing I’m sure of is that Kinnear asked us to judge him on his results. The results are in. He gets a big fat fail. And Ashley gets a big fat fail as well for hiring him. Football-wise, that is. Who knows what his motives were, are or became during the course of the window.

    Howay the lads.

  9. Aussie – he could say that he is bitterly disappointed not to have brought cover and competition in for CF, but there’s nothing can be done about it now and we go with what we have. Providing we stay injury free and don’t pick up silly suspensions we should be ok but it would have been good to have that depth.

The truth, as its what he’s been saying all through the transfer window.

Nobody expects him to come out and slag MA or JFK off. But he said with conviction after the Fulham game how he’d be disappoint if we didnt add – then the window closes and the squads good enough?!

  10. @Sharpy

Don’t state the obvious fella. 😯 Aussie doesn’t understand the obvious 😛

The statement has Pardews name to it. He could walk out the club and sue them if he didn’t want that released.

He is part of the problem. He goes along with everything. He’s not a top manager. That is why he’s at the club as I’ve maintained all along. No top manager could work with Ashley.

      (Quote)

  11. Sharpy spot on there is no way Pards will come out and his real thoughts or he will run the risk of annoying Jabba and Co.
I also think he is trying to protect his team by saying that he is happy to run with them

      (Quote)

  12. @ MICHAEL12 33 says
Mike Ashley is not deliberately running the club down. On the contrary he is elevating it. We have to be fair that this window the prices for players was so inflated it has become unbelievable. £27.5 M for Fellaini is just outrageous

😯 you will find fellaini is worth every penny of that fee, dont think you could spot a proper footballer if he kicked you up the backside buddy. If mike Ashley aint running this great club down then im also the pope buddy

      (Quote)

  13. Troy your right he is part of the problem but for me the biggest problem is that our spiritual leader that saved our club and is running it better than any other club is happy enough with him.
So for me he is the main problem

      (Quote)

  14. But still the Ashley drums beat for some people [but much fainter than ever eh ! ] and how sick does that make me feel , but lads and lasses those few that still look for positives and try to highlite the good only do so to try and wind you up or justify there many mistakes [ or out of complete stupidity ]
Short term he will plunder the club and milk it dry for his steady profit whilst gambling on survival , but sooner rather than later it will go wrong another relegation , exodus of good players and no replacments willing to join , poor gates , more demonstrations , jfk as our intrum manager , one or all of the above will happen.
Hes no forward thinking genious or revolutionary never has been and never will be ,hes definatly no fan and has done little to benifit the club.
But the club will still be there and proud long after Ashley has left it and he will be remembered for keegan gate ,sports direct arena, selling carroll, relegation, wise, kinnear…… and the list goes on.
So keep fighting his corner , keep telling us everyone else is wrong , keep telling us were self sustainable basically keep getting it wrong.

  16. I agree with Alex @225 (except the bit about Obertan 😉 )

The only real surprise for me is that they haven’t replaced Harper, which is something I fear they may live to regret.

I think all the PL clubs will be submitting their 25 man squads later on today, and I doubt whether many of the other clubs (if any) will be naming only 2 goalkeepers, as we are likely to do. I’ve no doubt young Jak Alnwick is a decent prospect but he’s only just turned 20, and I can’t help feeling that he’s a bit too young to be 3rd choice keeper in the premiership, especially when our first choice keeper seems to be a bit injury prone. When Timmy was that age he was out on loan at Falkirk (and later at Carlisle) gaining more experience – he didn’t make his first team debut until he was 21, and that was in the Championship. With our injury record I wouldn’t be surprised if young Jak ended up making his first team debut in a crucial league game, which is the last thing anyone would want.

For me this is just one more of a catalogue of failures during this transfer window.

      (Quote)

  17. MDS@190- I agree completely mate. I’ve long said our policy is about getting scouted players on the cheap, it doesn’t matter which position, so long as the “deal” is right and the player will increase in value. Not that this works in every instance, but it does explain why we bought anita for 7.6m when we either needed a winger or a CB some two years ago 🙄

It’s about value for Ash, llambias was the instrument for now. I think he realised he needed another opinion on the football side which Llambias obviously never got, which is why he got kinnear in-but clearly given kinnear is insane he has to look for someone else 😕

How about he sticks to the same thing that he has been saying for the past two months? The squad needs a couple more attacking options, even up until Saturday he was saying that and now all of a sudden he is happy with the squad… Give me a break! He is treating the supporters like mugs and he looks like a complete ***** himself.

  19. Troy you seem to have turned on ol Pards a bit, could it be you’re going to start disagreeing with Dave and start agreeing with B+b 😀

It would be nice if Pards had a bit more spine to him but I am surprised by the number of people who advocate walking from jobs, most people have to bite the bullet it and grin and bare it but we have some real principled folk on here 😯 (I think that’s the bit that really shocks me)

Imagine working in customer services and every time you get a complaint you tell them “Soz mate, it’s because my boss keeps trying to rip you off, can you believe his cheek!?”

Has the toner come in yet Boss?

    No Steve.

    You’re a ****

    What was that Steve?

I said, fingers crossed in comes in tomorrow then, ey…

I honestly don’t get why people are so obsessed with making Pardew walk out when it would only result in one c**t taking the job. 😕

      (Quote)

  20. Sharpy, Stuart & Big Dave, have you even considered that maybe Ashley and Joe have told Pardew to get on with it and say fuk all negative stuff about the transfer window.. you all come across as high and mighty and until you are in a similar position you can not say you would do otherwise.
I am sure that you are all men that speak your minds unless your wives tell you not to! 😆

      (Quote)

  21. Aussie what are you on about, I am 100%certain that Pards wanted players in and is now towing the party line so as not to annoy Jabba and Co and to give the team the impression that he happy with them.
As for not judging unless we have been in a similar position 😕 I have been in the position before and if they wanted me to cover and lie for them then they were well disappointed, but then you wouldnt know that would you 😕

      (Quote)

  22. Sharpy-” could say that he is bitterly disappointed not to have brought cover and competition in for CF”

We did, in Remy. If he had said that, would that not have been a massive insult to a player that presumably we are hoping to secure on a permanent basis 😕 ?

Pardew did not even say “he was happy” -just that we need to approach the season in a positive fashion, which we would have needed to try to do regardless of the summers transfers. To slag the squad off would have destroyed any small amount of confidence the Fulham win did bring, to slag off his boss would have resulted in kinnear.

His chit chat annoys me but at the end of the day I will be judging him on this season’s results and if they really are poor I will be fully behind our appointment of the top managers I was told we can attract and work with our budget, like Benitez, Blanc and Pellegrini. 😳

    😆

      (Quote)

  23. Aussie that he is happy with the squad he has, when he made it crystal clear before the window closed that he would be disappointed if we didnt add to the squad.
I understand why he is doing it as some people have to bite their lip and say nowt, cause it is maybe the only job he will have, and maybe I was lucky to know that I didnt have to feed of the scraps from my bosses table because I knew I would walk in to another post.
Right must go do a bit 😀

  25. Pardew’s just protecting his job. He won’t be offered another one will he? I’d probably lie if I was his age and needed it. They all lie anyway, owners, managers, players , journalists and have always done so. Don’t know why every one is so stressed by it. It’s an integral part of what is, less we forget, just a bloody game.

      (Quote)

  26. Dave-where has Pards said he is happy? Where has he said he isn’t disappointed? He’s said we have a strong squad and depending on what we want to achieve it can be argued we do. We certainly have a strong potential 11 imo and given that europe and hopefully injuries won’t be such a factor, and we missed top half by about 5/6 points, we should be able to compete for top 10 which is all that Ash is seemingly interested in.

  29. Before I start this post I just wanted apologise for how long it is but I need to post my feelings on the current plight at Newcastle. Now many may agree or disagree with me but these are just my opinions. I have followed Newcastle all my life and I am now 33 and remember the first game I went to being in 1991 Newcastle vs Grimsby where we won 2- 0 and Ardiles was manager. Since then I have probably been spoilt with some of the football and the signings we have made i.e. Shearer, Ginola, Marcelino (only Joking).
For me there a few things that have angered me and I know realise something needs to be done (What that is I don’t know but we cannot put up with this anymore).
Yes we have a decent first 11, if they are firing on all cylinders and with a decent manager (Which Pardew is not) we could make the top 10. But I can see this season that we will have a sulky Cabaye, which will then cause disharmony in the squad and with recent performances against Man City and last season Liverpool etc I just don’t see the fight for a long hard season being there. Know I still can’t see is being relegated but should we just put up with making do? No
So who do we blame? Well for me everyone has to share a responsibility. Pardew firstly is out of his depth. His tactics are poor and he keeps playing players out of position. For me the season we came 5th the warning signs were there. We had all the luck that season and there were many games i.e. WestBrom where we were lucky to win. Players seem to go backwards after Pardew gets to coach them (look at Sissoko and Gouffran) and I do not have any faith in him getting the most out the current playing staff.
Kinnear well we could go on for days why this man is wrong for Newcastle and hasn’t got a clue. He should never have been brought to the club and his interview with talk sport and boasts of how he can pick up the phone to any manager just makes him look ridiculous and I can go on but there is one man and one man only that should take full blame MIKE ASHLEY.
The buck has to stop with this man. He is the one that has hired Pardew and especially Kinnear. Yes he has put the club on a stable financial footing but the lack of communication, respect and ambition is a disgrace. Even if we got rid of Pardew who would work under this man, we are currently just treading water and under this man’s leadership we will go nowhere. Something has to be done and fans need to make their voices heard. Yes we should support the team on a match day but we should also be making Kinnear and Ashley know how angry and upset we are. For me a lot of fans make excuses and don’t do anything but are quite happy to whinge about the current situation but then have a go at people trying to make a difference. I am not asking for the chava brigade to be standing outside chanting with their bed lining but for the true supporter to stand up and be counted. What we can do I just don’t know but we must do something. My Dad talks about how they boycotted games when McKeag was chairman but that was different as we had Sir John Hall and his consortium waiting in the wings. But I think Ashley needs to know how hurt and angry we are at how our club is being ran and that we need answers. If he came out and said look I am no longer interested in running the team anymore and I am going to try and claw back some of the money I have put into Newcastle and then will leave. But in the mean time the club will be ran just to stay in the Premiership then I say fair enough, I wouldn’t be happy but at least he has put his card on the table and I would accept this as long as it means he would eventually leave but we are getting nothing. I could go on about what is wrong with this club but I would never get any work done. For me now is the time to stand up and be counted but in a way that will not be embarrassing to the club as it has been hurt enough.

      (Quote)

  30. Aussie-exactly. It’s fantastic that some people can pick and choose their employer/employment on a whim, good for them. Myself and most of my colleagues and friends aren’t in the same boat, there are constant **** ups at the top level but any noises made even at the top are dealt with swiftly so god knows they would throw me out without even a whimper. 1/4 of the staff have been granted voluntary redundancy but every one of them forfeits their rights of payment if they speak out about the institution, so even those who have left can’t speak out in the media etc. It’s not rosy for everyone.

That being said Pards is on a lot more money on me, the ******* 😈

  31. @Newkie

Ha! No I’m not turning against Pardew anymore than I was last year. I’ve never rated him. I’ve always said he part of the problem. I said it then and I say it now. He’s the best we will get whilst Ashley is here. I don’t want him sacked as I fear JFK will be appointed.

I mentioned that last year and that was before Jokey returned.

No change, no change was the reply. 😉

  32. Newkie, mate i have been in the exact same position as you find yourself.. i took voluntary redundancy and the found another job.. i wasn’t fazed at all but some of my mates were really worried.. so if someone bites their tongue, i will not call them out..

Stuart, i don’t think he looks ridiculous, i think he looks like a bloke who is up against it and knows full well knows that he is..

      (Quote)

  33. Yeah, I have no problems with Pards statement. He called for reinforcements pretty clearly during the window but now his job is to get on with it with the players he’s got. Footballers have sensitive psyches and he needs to fill them with confidence. Saying we didn’t do enough in the window and we aren’t strong enough won’t accomplish that.

      (Quote)

  34. Troy, you shouldn’t be too critical about Pardews words.. you couldn’t even explain away that big gut of yours and why you were gimping it in a closet 😆 😆

Do you not think this would put off any potential targets we do want to sign, as well as upset the entirety of the dressing room? They want to hear of progress, we want to hear about progress, Ashley wants progress-but he’s just never quite willing enough to put his hand in his pocket. We need another big sale, but our academy is never going to produce another English wonderkid that gets sold for such a ridiculous price. Ben Arfa after two fully fit and in form seasons would sell high, but unfortunately he’d be out of contract then and probably wouldn’t make it through both unscathed anyway 😕 There’s basically nobody else in our team a PL club would touch, maybe Krul and Mbiwa aside, which probably says a lot about the gap between us and the top dogs.

      (Quote)

  36. Troy-but you and Dave weren’t singing from the same hymn sheet! Well, until Dave backtracked and agreed with you at least 😀

Aussie-Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go for voluntary as they just keep my contract rolling every couple of months, probably gets more out of me than if they just gave me it permanent and it means I have to keep my nose clean or I’m gone. Not great like but at least the Toon will keep me entertained on weekends… 😆

People don’t seem to be taking into account what targets Pardew has been set this season. It all depends on what we want to achieve though. Most would agree if we had a first team striker and winger we could push for 7th and hit the cups, or at least one of them. Without those reinforcements we are still strong enough to avoid relegation and fight for mid table. Ashley has shown the ambition this year is to fight for mid table/avoid relegation and Pards is essentially saying the squad is strong enough to do that. Hardly ideal but I agree with him…

      (Quote)

  37. Aussie-honestly I think that was just wenger revenge for us scouting France so much. Cabs thought he could get in the Arsenal team, and then they go and sign Ozil 😆 bet he feels like a right ***.

      (Quote)

  38. Newkie so are they currently hearing about progress now? No we are hearing nothing and being shown no evidence he wants progress, which surely is putting off any players signing for us anyway. “Ashley wants progress-but he’s just never quite willing enough to put his hand in his pocket”. You must be the only person that thinks Ashley actually wants progress.

  40. Can anyone tell me how the figures show Ashley is making progress on & off the field since he arrived in 2007? 😕

The only thing he seems to have done is provide the club with an interest free loan. That’s obviously great for the club but what has he done since then, to try and improve the financials?

    I can’t see anything.

As far as I’m aware, he still hasn’t reduced that loan. It’s actually higher, as it increased when he got us relegated. It’s now in the region of £130m.

The turnover to wages ratio remains about the same as in 2007. 65-70%.

The team and squad are mediocre.

Season tickets had to be reduced as fans lost interest and rebelled against him. We are again seeing less than capacity crowds.

The reputation of the club hasn’t improved. It’s still considered a laughing stock and an unstable club.

Could someone please tell me how he has improved the club financially since he first inherited and loaned the debt over 6 years ago. 🙄

      (Quote)

  41. Newkie please tell me what was it I back tracked on ❓ or are you falling into Aussie’s trap 😕

Troy funny enough when we both said about JFK coming back there was a few that laughed and said that he was finished with Footie as his heart wouldnt stand up to it etc etc.

      (Quote)

  42. Troy – Ashley has been an unmitigated disaster. Everyone with half a brain can see this. The club have been waxing lyrical for two years about being in great financial shape, yet push comes to shove we cannot afford to compete with anyone in the league. Very Strange!

      (Quote)

  43. Albert-Ashley wants to progress, he just doesn’t want to spend any fucking money to do it. That’s the only thing I am sure about-do you think he is willing relegation on us 😕 ❓

Troy-what time was this then? I have no need to chop and change my opinions because I don’t join the little dream/train/clubs I never write up 25 page manifestos, whine constantly that my ideas aren’t being listened to by the club, I just give my opinion as and when something happens.

And sneak away when things go wrong… 😀

For 270 you need people like Wolfie, I have never **** licked Ashley, I only ever argued that FFS was as much a **** and that tends to be the only thing I disagree with you on. And Steve Wraith 😆

Dave-236/238-he’s protecting his squad but he’s part of the problem? You just seemed to backtrack when Troy came out strong against him and initially you had supported him 😉

      (Quote)

  44. @Newkie

    Oh dear 😆

Was it not you accusing me of changing my stance over Pards which was a wrong accusation.
Come on fella, I have a tongue in cheek go back at you and you are fizzin. 😛

Can you answer my query above about Ashley and what improvements he’s made since he was forced into loaning NUFC money. ?

    @Stuart

Totally agree. I would love for someone to tell me what Ashley’s done to improve things, as there’s a lot who still believe he’s got things right off the field.

    @Big Dave

The same people will want Pards sacked cos they believe we can attract a top manager. How many hits to the head do these people need. 🙄

      (Quote)

  45. No I don’t think he is willing relegation on us. I think he is happy for the club to stand still not getting relegated but also not putting up a fight to do anything. If he could he would quite happily spend nothing I agree but by doing this he is not wanting progress. If he actually wanted progress he would spend the money but he does not therefore he is not interested in progress I don’t understand how you don’t get that.

  46. What is my trap Big Dave?
Fuk me everyone could see that Joe was going to be a fuk up.. Now we have Big Troy claiming that they knew what others didn’t.. 😆 😆 unbelievable..

  47. Troy-your elephant comment made me think you meant something a while back when you were actually referring to the previous comment five minutes ago, but I can see why that’s a long time for you as you change opinions so regularly 😀

I actually put in my previous comment I wouldn’t get involved with that because I don’t think he has actually made that many improvements on the field, although I do think we have a better squad (or at least, I like them more). Try reading comments more Troy, it might help when it comes to remembering what was said! 😆

Albert-he wants progress but he wants it at no cost to himself, he doesn’t want “no progress”. For example, he wants one of our players to be sold so that that money can be reinvested into getting a better team, at no cost (or even profit) to his own bank balance. That is the difference. I agree that standing still isn’t progress, but that doesn’t mean Ashley doesn’t want it. He just doesn’t want to pay for any of it 😆

  48. Aussie-what I like is that Troy paints it as “the reality crew predicted” when I said at the same time Poyet was best case, Kinnear was likely case and I don’t give two titties about trains, planes or any other mode of transport

  49. Newkie I have always said we deserved a better manager and that Pards wouldnt have been in my list of managers . And yeah he is part of our problems but Jabba is the biggest problem as he hasnt any ambition for us to get a top manager in to make us a better team but I would rather get behind him than have JFK . But thats got nowt to do with him not being able to show the players that he has faith in them, because they are all he has thanks to the c@nt running the club.
So I really cant see how that is back tracking 🙄 if I wanted to agree with Troys comment I just wouldnt have made my initial comment about Pards seeing as I allready read Troys 😳
Right lunch is over , so look forward to see how you class that as back tracking when I get a chance later

  50. Newkie, let the realty train crew have their moment.. it makes them feel special 😆
I am sure Troy will take some one else’s idea in the future and claim it as his own 😛

  51. Dave-jesus christ fella lighten up 😆 You’ve already ignored my point from earlier asking where Pardew stated he was happy with the summer and his squad which you said he did, so the ball is in your court.

Aussie-you’ll win no prizes for predicting that fella 😛

Can anyone tell me how the figures show Ashley is making progress on & off the field since he arrived in 2007?
    ————————————–

In terms of finances? The club lost 30M in 07/08 and the wage bill was over 80% of revenues (went up to over 90% during our year in the CCC). When he bought the club they found out that the club still owed 35M 😯 on previous purchases made by the last regime.

I’ve seen reports that the wage bill is now like 67-70%. We don’t owe anything on transfers and we made a profit 2 straight years.

I believe they payed back 15M on the loan last year and reports say they have paid back another 19M in the books that haven’t been released yet.

Revenues though are still below the last regime though…

  53. I could stomach Pards a lot better if he would just play an attacking side and formation like he did 2 years ago. With Ben Arfa fit and the addition of Remy, he has the players to do it so there are no more excuses.

  54. Big Dave has ignored a few of my questions as well Newkie.. don’t stress mate, he isn’t singling you out.. 😉

      (Quote)

  55. Fact is Pards in that statement tells us we have a strong squad and should go forward with optimism . He knows the squad is only strong while it remains fit and as sure as god made apples the injuries will strike ,they always do and heaven help us when that happens. I just hope he doesn’t look for sympathy when it effects form cause the time to address that possibility was in that statement which he didn’t do.

  56. MDS .I’m hoping that’s what we’ll see again ,it’s the only way forward to get results imo ,but lose any of Remy ,Cisse or HBA and we will struggle ,that Jabba can’t see that is nuts.

  57. Kim, the problem with that is, Pardz hasn’t gone and Joe hasn’t taken over 😉

      (Quote)

  58. Yep, it will get tough if Cisse, Remy are injured.. we are taking a big risk and i hope we don’t get caught out…

  59. Aussie ,we know it’s only a matter of time though if we’re honest .I still can’t believe he brought JFK back tbh ,I just never thought he’d be stupid enough to re employ the guy 😳

      (Quote)

  60. I still think we’d be OK if one of them got injured because I rather rate Gouffron, but after that we’d be looking at Shola 🙁 Still, I am going to be speechless if he trots out Jonas on the left of a 4-2-3-1.

      (Quote)

  61. Kim, i agree… it is hard to see how ashley could think that Joe would be a success in this role.. it makes no sense at all.. i have a feeling that we will get caught short on striker options sooner rather than later..

      (Quote)

  62. Aussie-he’s done it with me a few times, although I just put it down to him reading the comment. A negger like you might suggest he’s avoiding the question, but I wouldn’t dream of it 😀

Kim- so did I, that’s been my main argument ever since I argued with that guy who wrote a few articles and BLASTED into how bad 4-4-2 (you know, the formation everyone wants back) was and how Blanc would love to work for us. Can’t remember his name, then it pitted me vs JJ for about four months. JJ admitted defeat after Kinnear’s appointment because he said he never believed the club would be so stupid as to appoint Kinnear. So naive bless him 😛

  63. I think the truth about Ashley and us is he’s so fucking rich he doesn’t care a jot about the club. It’s an embarrassing little gamble he made years ago that he can’t be bothered to get rid of. His only bottom line is it better not cost anything! He’s hired the cheapest manager and DOF he could find and just told them to get on with it. When they whinge he invites them to his yacht and they feel better.

  64. Newkie .It still feels like some horrendous nightmare mate. I never ever thought that@*%$ would cross the doors of SJP again.

      (Quote)

  65. MDS@294-aye that for me would make or break it. Pards has been gifted some timely injuries to actually see what other players can do. Jonas over Marv in 4-4-2 I can stomach but over Remy or Goof or Marv when expected to attack? Surely not 😕

      (Quote)

  66. Georgio ,he made it clear that he was buying the club to promote SD outlets and to that end he has been very successful with SD recording record profits this year. So long as he can keep using Toon to that end I would imagine he’d be very reluctant to sell up without wanting to maintain some interest in the club to further promote his tat ,that’s my only concern ,that and the fact that the fat f*** wants too much for the club.

Talking of profits ,did anyone see Wonga announced they are making £1million profit per week 🙄
