Expectations are higher for this one than they have been for any other match in recent weeks. Impressive wins against Chelsea then Tottenham have given us a platform to build on and, should results go our way, we could end up in fifth place by the end of the game.
Standing in the way of that is Chris Hughton. The former United manager is under pressure at Carrow Road and will need to avoid another disappointing result if he is to keep the wolves from the door. The memory of the 7-0 defeat to Manchester City is still fresh on the minds of the Canaries fans, and despite a 3-1 victory against West Ham in their last match I get the feeling that result only have Hughton a temporary reprieve and that another poor result could prove to be the fatal blow for his tenure at Norwich.

And that is just about that. As I said in the match preview this is one of those games that often leads to disappointment, but hopefully United and their band of merry, World Cup qualified, Frenchmen can allay my fears and get the job done.

There was nothing high and mighty about Spurs today by all accounts. It puts out 4-0 at the Etihad into perspective when Norwich and Spurs were beaten 7-0 and 6-0 there. 😯

I’m not too bothered about our performance yesterday.
I think performances are more important than results but we had more tired players than norwich because of the international break. It was the same reason liverpool didn’t beat us a few games ago – they weren’t fresh.
Poor performance was expected. Honestly i thought norwich would be much more up for the game but they let themselves down.
Remy seems to be a little greedy – pethaps too confident & starting to believe in his own hype?
There was another player like that, scored loads of goals when he came but now he can’t get a start…

Spurs haven’t clicked. Too many new players still finding their feet. Also i’m not sure how good avb really is?
I honestly think martinez & rodgers are better. Spurs were very lucky last season with bale winning so many points on his own.

KK not disagreeing with you more clarifying what I think. Pards is an average EPL manager and as such one of the better English managers. He is not world class and probably not top 6 material.
There are some wildly overated managers in the EPL. IMO. Pards is better than Houghton who is struggling at EPL level, good Championship manager, may get better.Fat Sam is not good enough. Martinez has a lot to prove his record at Wigan was worse than Paul Jewell and Steve Bruce. Let alone what managers did with Wimbledon and other clubs with limited resources. Lambert did OK last year survived with kids but he has resources available. This year he does not appear to be getting better.
Rogers is starting to impress me, but has yet to achieve anything so too early to say and is certainly not getting Liverpool performing above their budget.
Moyes is another average EPL manager. he has been given the chance at Man U and he may well go on to justify that choice.
It’s easy to knock Pardew, but difficult to justify that he is rubbish or a fool etc. He clearly isn’t. But the media darlings are not necessarily “better”

I think we held on well considering we should have wrapped it up with a 3rd on the break and Norwich were bound to have a go in the second half when they had nothing to lose. There are no easy teams in this league and all have players that are capable of scoring against us.

I like sissoko but he hasn’t shown why he should start ahead of anita.
For me, anita is our first choice midfielder, 2nd choice is cabaye.
Tiote & sissoko should be fighting it out. Tiote protects the back four whilst sissoko can help drive the team forward from deep.
I’d like to think we were playing 343 yesterday but that’s not true. It was bog standard 442.
Colo should not have started. He might be the captain but he should still earn his place based on form. Maybe he was a beast in training, i don’t know but i doubt it.
Sissoko playing on the wing – he’s not a winger. Sure he ocassionally has an impact there but that isn’t enough. If he’s good enough he should be in centre mid but otherwise he should be on the bench.
Ameobi – It’s good he started. He’s received so much stick it’s crazy. Some of it was justified but alot of it was out of order. He’s actually quite decent with the ball at his feet.
If he didn’t play though injuries just for us, he might have been less injury prone. Under the right manager in the righ team he could have consistently got 15 goals or more per season.
Players like ameobi & harper sacrificed their careers for us. I just wish they were a bit more selfish & they might have been able to achieve more

I agree with most of what you’ve said. I even suspect pardew is being heldback by substandard coaches.
There are not many (if any) better english managers that would come to nufc.
Martinez is a media darling but he’s also a young, progressive manager. He still has a lot to improve but he’s nowhere near his peak.
Mike ashley neexs to realise he could get more bang for his buck if he hired a good foreign manager.
If he only wants english, pardew is as good as you can get

This has got to be a big incentives to our Lads to keep on going for the points against Wet *** and Swansea.

I was quite impressed with Shola, that little international call up has done him good, and the fact that he is getting somewhere near some match fitness. Even if he only plays the first 45 minutes, that is fine and what the bench is for as we have options on the bench. The second goal (which in effect won us the game) was all Ameobi. His turn to go past the midfielder and then play a great ball for Remy to run after. The weight of his passing was so accurate, then he made up all that ground to get in the box and use his size and strength to make the chance for Gouffran. The job of the central defenders is a thankless task and they have to win things in the air, and they hate playing against what Ameobi was yesterday and what Carroll was. It’s the first time I’ve seem Ameobi use his 6’3” frame and strength to proper effect. He seems to have sorted out his jumping and heading and defenders hate playing against a centre forward like that. 😀
