Game On! Crystal Palace v Newcastle

Game On at Selhurst Park
Game On at Selhurst Park
Newcastle travel to South London today to take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in what is our last match before Christmas.

After drawing last weekend against Southampton, and ideal present from the lads would be for us to get back to winning ways against the Eagles.

However it won’t be easy. A few weeks ago Crystal Palace were in danger of limping out of the Premier League with barely a whimper, but a new manager and new approach under Tony Pulis seems to have given them some renewed hope. Indeed a win today coupled with other results falling for them elsewhere could see them lifted out of the bottom three just in time for Christmas.

United are capable of winning this one but they will need to match the fight and effort a side put together by Tony Pulis will put into a match. If they can do that then eventually our quality should show through but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens I guess.

For more background information about the match including a history of the fixture, injury concerns for each side and some stats and facts then why not take a look at the match preview if you’ve not already done so? Just scroll down the page and look for the link.

The match will not be shown live here in the UK but it has been listed for broadcast by several overseas channels so picking up a stream should be a possibility. Normal rules apply though which means if you do find a stream then share it with others by leaving a link in the ‘comments’ section below.

Team news will be added in fully below as soon as I can get my hands on it. I’ll actually be able to watch the game today as I don’t start work until later which is a bonus for me. Hopefully the players can put on a show for me, and for all of us.

Howay the lads!

  1. that should of been a proper tonking we were unlucky not to win by 5 or 6 goals there 😯 good result though played well 😀

  3. RED CARD – Sunderland – Wes Brown
Yet another red card for Sunderland under Gus Poyet! My word.

Wes Brown, who had his dismissal at Stoke waived, will be lucky to have this one turned over. It’s needless in injury time as he clatters hard into Ricky van Wolsfwinkel as he shepherds the ball out. Reckless.

  5. When was the last time we have won by 3 or more goals? Man United?

Great game considering the weather. There was a lot of wayward passes but we still managed to play some decent stuff at times.

Motm is a hard one. Debuchy, Cabaye, Tiote, Colocinni, Sissoko, Williamson. It could go to anyone of those guys.

Stu@25&Dave@27, Our last big PL win was in the 2010/11 season on our return to top flight footie with 3 big wins v VILLA 6.0, Scum 5,1 and WestHam 5.1. Since then our biggest win was 3.0 v Stoke and Manure in 11/12 season at home and 3.0 vWigan last season .
The Fizzy pop season was good recording a 4.0,4.1,5.1 and 6.1 over Ipswich,Blackpool ,Cardiff and Barnsley. 😉

Hopefully today is the day we record this seasons highest score. If not I will settle for 1st febs match  😈

  8. Great win. Bit premature by those who said French players had no grit and we had too many French players. I think we can get better as confidence goes up. If we go into the transfer market in January (big if) players will want to join us.

  9. Agree with santii – decent performances considering the weather.

When ben arfa came on we looked very very dangerous – we definitely took it up a coupke of levels.

It’s a shame gouffran hit the post, it would have looked very good for him & us if we won 0-4!

Tiote being suspended makes pardew’s job a little easier for stoke. I’d want to see quite a few changes considering we have arsenal on sunday.

  10. I’m a little concerned about cover for debuchy. I think he’s played almost every game but wow he is very consistent.

Good result, decent performance, bad weather

  11. Nice one Kim i wasn’t on the last one.

I can’t see anyone leaving in January. Its to much of a risk for our world cup players. Think we only need 1 more player in the window but i would be happy enough to finish the season with our current squad. Especially if we continue to pick up points like we have been doing 😀

  12. Santi, I’m a tad concerned about the Remy situation mate , he’s turning into Cisse mk2 and we really do need a good striker because apart from today we aren’t scoring that many goals . Goofy has been brilliant for us though I must admit. We could do with a good winger too imo. Would like us to get Finnbogsson ,soz spelling 🙄 .

  13. @MsiDouglas: Since Mike Williamson came back, #nufc have kept four clean sheets in 5 away games (if this one finishes 3-0).

  14. Well maybe it was not the 5 or 6 nil i was thinking it would be but we did well and truly stuff them .On wards and upwards for Pards Black and white army 😀

  15. @toonsy

Yeah i remember too but it wasn’t just debuchy, apparently ALL french players lack the passion & fight to do well in the league!

Also carr was overrated because every player he’s ever signed has had a decent debut before turning rubbish!!

Nothing to do with the fact that moving to another country & culture might affect some players performances.

  16. 3hours, Willo has been very reliable to date, compliments Colo very well, feel a bit sorry for Mbiwa at the mo , he’s not getting a sniff of a chance.

i tell you what, for a while there i thought Pardew and the players were smoking whatever you had 😀 Still it was a good goal difference booster just like you wished for. You must have been a good boy this year 😀

    @Kim

I am not to worried about Remy yet he is still doing ok in terms of his build up play and he was unlucky not to get on the end of Debuchy’s cross today (the og one). Once he stops contributing to the team and not getting in the danger areas i will start to worry.

I think that miss last week has really put him under a bit of pressure/scrutiny from the fans.

In a way i am kind of glad we are not a one man band like some always say we are. We have goals throughout the team.

    😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

remy was no were near geting on the end of that cross 😆 😆 😆 😆

  19. He is contributing as a forward, but not as a striker.
Strikers have to be fecking selfish 99% of the time.
Get in the box and not on the wings.
    I blame that silver haired **** 😕

  20. Our style of play has change its why we are really better. We win all our games in the midfield with Tiote Cabaye and Anita. We keep the possesion play in the ground thats our main force at the moment. All the time the game start being crazy we are in danger because we lack pace from Coloccini and Willo but they read the game good.
In my opinion at the moment cabaye play the football of his life, one of the best midfielder in the premier league since the last 2 months.
All his touches, control, passes are just perfect precise, with perfect pace, always the right decisions.
And debuchy is just better and better every game.

Only concern about remy and gouffran today who bring no real danger upfront.

We got better as soon as we switched to 4-4-2 we won 4 on the bounce with it. Pardew just needs to know the right games to switch between 4-4-2 & 4-5-1.

      (Quote)

  22. Agree
In my opinion Pardew just continues with a team and formation until we loose one good game, not able to switch depends on game.
But what is more important than the formation for me is that we playing now with the quality of our players that means on the ground with short passes.
Did you remark Krul now don’t take all the time one minute to hoof it, Willo always tries to make a pass in the ground to when it’s possible.
And this mentality is in the mind in every player now so that even in some risky situations we don’t panic and tries to make pass in the ground.
In my opinion upfront we doesn’t have a player like Drogba or Lukaku to hoof it all the time.

  23. Woo hoo hoo hoo 😛

I told you so! I told you so!
Stick with Pards and give him his to learn from his mistakes! 😆

How foolish do the Pards knockers look now. 😛

You all know who you are. 😳

Ouch! I’m dying for you’s here! Dying! 😳

    Yikesy doodle! 😆

  24. Everyone discards the Pards knockers opinions now as bunkum! 😛

You know who you are. 😛 Bunkum 😛

  25. Those worrying about Remy. hes got cisse syndrom.. if he doesnt pick the ball up from the half way line run to the box and score, thats it. cos nobody will pass the ball to him around goal. hes getting the same service cisse has had for 18 months. none !!!

  26. And the great silver fox doesn’t have a clue how to address it. 👿
Pardew for England after the world cup

  27. Nice to see some vindication for Cisse, he’s not the ***** player a lot say he is . He’s been a prolific striker for ages this is his first barren spell , yet I now worry we have the same concerns for Remy 🙄 .

      (Quote)

  28. Kim – Barren spell ❓
its far worse than a barren spell. Plus if you want to count the bad offside decisions that have gone against him, you mustn’t forget the sitters he has also missed.
I honestly think he needs a fresh start away from NUFC

      (Quote)

  29. I reckon if we buy Finnbogasson in January we could very well get a top 4 finish .The lad is a goal machine and would fit perfectly into our side an 8 million bid would get him
