Pardew handed seven-match ban

Pardew punished
Pardew punished
So finally the FA have made a decision about Alan Pardew, and the final say is that our manager will serve a seven-game suspension.

It’s not as cut and dry as that though as the punishment has been split and three of those games are outright stadium bans with the other four being more standard touchline bans.

Pardew has also been fined £60,000 by the FA on top of the £100,000 fine handed out by the club in the wake of the event, which is a fair dent in the pocket for one of the lowest paid managers in the Premier League. According to estimated figures, his total fine will cost him roughly 65% of his basic annual wage. Different worlds and all that but it will still hurt.

The punishment means that Pardew will not be allowed inside the stadium for our trip to Fulham or our back-to-back home games against Crystal Palace and Everton whilst he will be able to watch on from the stands at Southampton and Stoke along with the home games against Manchester United and Swansea. Pardew will resume full duties for our trip to Arsenal on April 28th.

Hopefully that draws a line under the whole affair which was dangerously close to being blown out of all proportion, aided by mock shock from the media and pundits. It wasn’t the public execution some wanted and to be fair I think the punishment is about right.

Sorry things have been quiet in terms of articles, but I’ve already had my say on the matter and there is only so many time you can say that he was a silly boy. In fact aside from Loic Remy casting admiring glances towards clubs who have their eyes on bigger targets and the wheels falling off the Gus Bus down the road there hasn’t been a whole lot going on.

At least there is football again this weekend though…

  1. Icedog, spot on there mate.

I’m sure Savage and the rest of the knackers will be questioning the ban as being lenient though..

  2. I think the punishment is a fair one, basically a “don’t do this, you know the consequences” kind of punishment that discourages others from such actions.

  3. Pardew is skating on thin ice now. He really does need to watch himself, cos although Cashley won’t sack him, he’s gonna be on the receiving end of some crazy fines if he messes up again..

  4. Toonsy , Spot on mate naff all happening at the mo, other than Pards which has been done to death now, punishment was about right, now we can all hopefully move on .

Andymag , long time no hear mate, you been tied up with uni stuff or lasses 😆 ❓

  5. Ice – I was expecting a stadium ban for the rest of the season – I wonder if what was said in his personal hearing had any sway.

      (Quote)

  6. SHARPY@7 going by’ the ***** he comes out with us mate so yes what he said would have some sway, plus that lot are a law to themselves

  7. Fair enough ban… nothing to extreme…

Ice, to be fair to Pardz, he has put his hands up and copped this one on the chin! He hasn’t tried to squirm out of it at all.. Also his level of BS this year has been pretty mild compared to previous seasons. He has learned to keep his mouth shut…..somewhat! 😉

      (Quote)

  8. As I said on the last thread I think he done ok as I thought the FA would have hammered him harder just to make an example of him.
I just hope thats it all over now and wee dont have to listen to the **** anymore.

      (Quote)

  9. Aussie…”He has learned to keep his mouth shut”…Aye, he’s using his head a bit more these days 🙄

      (Quote)

  10. I see the FA are thinking of appealing the sentence handed out to pardew they think it should be longer, ffs they appointed the three guys that deal with this ***** in the first place, let’s just end it and get on with the footy.
Here’s one to think about,it would not shock me to see Pardew made DOF and a new manager brought in for next year, remember you heard it here first

      (Quote)

  11. Ice – it’s turning into a bloody pantomime this now like!.
The FA have an INDEPENDANT board to review the case and apply the punishment – however the FA aren’t happy so they say try again.
What’s the point? – why not just handle the case themselves?.

But further to that though, Pardew isn’t happy with his own punishment and wants to ban himself!

If it were a different club it would be funny.

      (Quote)

  12. Ice – I can’t stand the guy but I’m not sure I’d want him as DOF either. Bent and Tomkins and the like. Not exactly the happy days I’m looking for.

      (Quote)

  13. Got away with that one I think. Particularly after the media witch hunt.

Wonder how it will effect the team. Listening to KK for the last few months I suppose it will improve us beyond belief with Pardew not being involved. I expect us to win every game 4 nil now then.

      (Quote)

  14. Holy ****, Ashley will have to employ Kk and Jj to do the game day tactics! I can just see the 2 3 6 – 1115111 formations already! We will never lose a game with their sure fire tactical nous! 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  15. GEORGIO@7 I can’t stand any of them at the club, maybe WOR peter but IMO I think he’s a bit of **** licker could be wrong like, but being a top player for us I will give him the benefit of the doubt

      (Quote)

  16. AP is our new DOF for next season thats why hes agree to sit in the director box till end of season….. New Manager for next season

      (Quote)

  17. Ice – that’s some theory mate – it’s not beyond the realms either is it?!.

I wonder what wages Lee Clark may want in exchange for the chance of managing his beloved club?.
Apparantly Pardew is big mates with Phil Parkinson who is currently Bradford manager as well.

I’m not saying either would be my choice – but both would be at Ashleys ambition level and both would probably dance to his tune.

      (Quote)

  18. SHARPY both me and you know mate nowt that happens at the toon is strange from one end or the other, strange is the norm

      (Quote)

  19. I could see him getting one of the dopey earpieces like Fat sam used to have and sit in the stan from now on. Its a shame really as i quite like the way he coaxes the players from the “technical area” 🙄 Its one of his strengths in my opinion

      (Quote)

  20. Ice – do you reckon Pardew would fancy DoF though mate?.

I suppose if Ashley said to him – one more touchline incident and you’re sacked, and which club do you think would employ you as manager after that? – then maybe he’d realise it’s not the daftest move he could make.

He wouldn’t be my choice for DoF like but he’s hardly got a difficult act to follow has he?

      (Quote)

  21. SHARPY aye he would take the job in a heart beat IMO mate, where else would he get a job with a top club, anyway I think we would get some top players in if he feeds them the bullshit he feeds us

      (Quote)

  22. Let’s wait and see how badly Ashley screws up the summer. If it is bad as I fear then he will need a scapegoat and that will be Pardew next season, sometime around November. The chances of Mike SmallBerries spending the amount of money needed to set the club on the right foot are exactly zero.

      (Quote)

  23. Does anyone else keep thinking of the “She’s a witch!” sketch from The Holy Grail? Football people have become so insane about the concept of anything to do with heads: head injury = stop the game, hands to face = red card, headbutt – red card and media shitstorm, etc.

It’s no less daft than a load of people determining whether to burn a person depending on whether they weigh less than a duck. Since when has the fact that an action happens around your head made the difference between “tain’t nutthin” and “burn him!!”? To anyone who spends their life outside of the bubble or retards that footie exists in, this seems to be the guideline:

    – Try to break someone’s leg (e.g. Mr Haidara’s leg) – no action at all.
    – Admit that in writing (e.g. Mr Keane) – no action at all.
    – Blatantly trying to cheat your way (diving, play-acting, etc.) to winning a match/cup/promotion/massive bonus – no action at all.
    – Barging into a besuited 52-year-old on the side of the pitch and shoving him backwards – yellow card. Naughty boy.
    – Being that 52-year-old and retailiating with a movement no more harmful than a chinese burn BUT NEAR THEIR FACE 😯

    BURN HIM!!! BURN HIM!!!

And we wonder why everyone thinks football is run and played by morons. It is.

  24. I think it’s more his past behavior and the appearance of attempting to head **** someone that’s the cause of most of the fuss Whumpie mate. He hasn’t helped himself with his behavior but I agree it’s gotten ridiculous with the negative coverage. Bound to happen with the press the way it is though.

  27. I just want a good football club that competes hard in every competition they are entered in. Should I repeat that for you Mike SmallBerries? A team that competes hard in every competition they are entered in. And has the depth and quality of players to do so. Harrumph.

      (Quote)

  28. Aye I know ice but we have to keep trying. Let’s roast that man’s SmallBerries in the fire this summer if he does nothing to improve the club! Argghhhh! 👿

      (Quote)

  29. Ice , spot on in both them post mate 🙁

G2, You should know by know, if it wasn’t for bad luck lately Toon would have no luck at 😉

What a day today ,had to watch my 93 year old dad have 7 teeth roots taken out and packed and stitched at frenchay hospital 🙁 poor old sod ,he was soooooooooo brave . Got to say what a fantastic oral consultant he had ,god he did a grand job, now there is someone who really earns their wad, not like some of these prima donna footballers 🙄

      (Quote)

  30. G2, if Jabba doesn’t significantly invest this summer I think there will be real unrest amongst the fans. Any left sitting on the fence will be well and truly jumping off it I suspect as the whole world and his uncle can see what we need to push on . We HAVE to invest appropriately or we run the risk off dropping down the league because everyone else seems to want to compete on all levels.

  31. Spot on Kimtoon lass. All the best to your dad. He sounds like a real trooper. As for Mike, we’ll all be watching. Got a busy day underway. Hope to join back in later.

  32. KIM@37 yes a brave guy,I think its a lot of peoples nightmare having to go
to the tooth puller, but hopefully the pain will go now,its like pulling teeth trying to get jabba to spend a few quid

  33. A few years ago I would have been in no doubt fatty would spend money to give the manager the team required to push on with.
I’m not so naïve these days tho.
In fact I am more pessimistic than ever.
I suppose he will spend the minimum amount necessary to keep us mid table

      (Quote)

  34. I think we will sign a few players – if we get decent fees for some of the outgoing people like Ben Arfa, etc.

If we don’t get decent money, I expect freebies and loans – if anyone arrives at all.

  35. Just watching Cabaye for PSG against Leverkusen. The bloke isn’t getting a kick. If only Ashley would spend part of the huge profit he made on Cabaye. 👿

      (Quote)

  36. mm, Reckon he’s about making money more than spending it, unless he’s kicking back at the casino with his pals anyway. 👿

      (Quote)

  37. Kimtoon, we need to see what Ashley comes up with in the close season. Remy’s goals have carried us this season, and with him gone next season we need something pdq. De Jong isn’t the answer if you ask me.

Just having a pop at Cabaye to be honest. He just isn’t getting a kick against a very average Leverkusen side. I think the bloke is better off back in France, he just didn’t have it in him to play 50 high tempo EPL games per season in my opinion..

      (Quote)

  38. MM, I think De Jong looks good but he isn’t the answer to getting a shed load of goals imo , he needs a strike partner and thought he looked good with Remy ,seems an intelligent player knows what runs passes to make in a kind of Teddy Sherringham type way if you get my drift .

      (Quote)

  39. So City and Arsenal both dumped out the CL ,so much for the great and mighty PL then 😳 🙄

      (Quote)

  40. I said a few weeks ago Cabaye wouldn’t play at PSG as he wasn’t as good as the midfielders they have and he is purely a squad player. I was told it was only because he just moved there. It’s over two months now and he still isn’t playing.

He was good at our level but the level PSG play at, he is bench warming at best.

      (Quote)

  41. Sick of hearing about Cabaye… who cares.. but be prepared come the summer transfer window. We will hear stories that we will try and get him and Ba back because they are seeing no game time with their current clubs! 😆

      (Quote)

  42. Just for Aussie a Cabaye comment 😛 He’s been there nearer 6 weeks 😉 I’m certain he knew before he went to PSG that he’d get less game time but the medals, trophies and extra money will be a comfort to him I’m sure.

      (Quote)

  43. Aussie… I am, I’ve watched a couple of PSG games but only because I watch a lot of foreign football and not because he’s there. I hope he does well but it won’t bother me in the slightest if he flops, fails to make the World Cup and is playing non league football in a couple of years

  44. Quote from Remy… 😆
“Girls can be greedy and vicious.” “When you’re a footballer, single, and want to have fun, you can have any girl you want.”
“Whether you’re cute, ugly, big, or small — the power of money today, it’s amazing.” “Before it was not like that. I see things that make me afraid. I see these girls — what they can do.”

“Money is a source of happiness, but it is also a poison.” “When you are woken up at 5:00 am by seven or eight police, you think it’s a dream or a nightmare.”
“I didn’t understand what was happening. I tried to say, ‘Hey, put on your shell and work’. But from the stands I heard a few unpleasant remarks.”

Money can make footballers greedy c*nts as well Loic! 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  50. Thanks Richie 😡 I just called that number! They got angry with me and demanded to know how I got the number! I said I got it from a clever geordie called Richie, who lives in spain! Well now it seems they want to lock me up for wasting their time, because as they put it.. “there is no such thing as a clever geordie called Richie!” 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  51. Does anyone know the craic with this stadium ban for Pardew?
Is it just the stadium that we are playing in or is it ALL stadiums?
I’m just wondering whether Pardew could use the next 3 weeks to do a bit of a scouting mission to find replacements for Remy and Cabaye.

      (Quote)

  52. Sharpy, you have no idea as to the severity of Pardews fine.. he is devastated because he was going to watch Bon Jovi play live at the 02 but now he can’t! **** stadium ban! 😆

      (Quote)

  53. Sharpy…Just the ones we play in I think for the whole matchday…and The Bon Jovi one 😉

      (Quote)

  54. 😆 😆 Aussie/Richie – what the hell is going on with you 2 this morning?
The pair of you are in a reet daft mood aren’t ya?! 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  55. Sharpy…Lack of Toon matches I think, that’s my excuse anyway. As for Aussie his excuse is that he’s just plain bonkas 😛

      (Quote)

  56. Sharpy – Richie and Aussie eh? They’d make a fine talk show on TV. Or a pies and beers competition (Fosters of course) 😆

      (Quote)

  57. Anybody interested in the match on Saturday? The Hull game seems like eons ago. I’m guessing the team pretty much picks itself apart from Colo coming back in for Mbiwa. It’s a shame for the frenchman as he needs a long run of games to truly settle in. It’s hard not to notice that Benny is being avoided these days. As far as I’m aware nobody has mentioned what his ‘injury’ is. Pardew sickness probably.

I’d go for a win but Webb is the ref and he really doesn’t like us. I still blame him for the relegation. Still, apart from Chelsea we’ve won all of our Sat games.

      (Quote)

  58. Georgio 😆

Agree about M’biwa, let’s just hope he realises that he’ll get a lot more game time next season when(probably) Colo goes.

      (Quote)

  59. Georgio – they are like a couple of giggly school kids this morning!.
Still I’m not knocking it at all! – it’s good to see actually coz there’s been plenty doom and gloom to read for too long now.

Georgio – Re the game – is there any news on whether Remy will be fit for the game mate?.
