How do you feel about our two new signings?

Colback - Changing colours
Colback – Changing colours
So we’ve signed two players, on permanent deals. Bring out the banners and stop the press! This kind of things doesn’t happen often.

Ayoze Perez has joined us from Tenerife whilst Jack Colback has joined us from our bitter rivals on Wearside, with rather amusing reactions from those of a red and white persuasion as a result.

To be honest I can’t really knock the Colback transfer. We picked him up for nowt and he’s a tidy player. Nothing spectacular and certainly no replacement for Yohan Cabaye, but he’ll do a job and despite his time spent at Sunderland, he is actually a United fan so he’ll give his all for us and at least we’ll have one player in our ranks who knows what it means to play in a Tyne-Wear derby!

Speaking of which, many fans have reservations about him purely because of his reaction after recent derby victories for Sunderland. I suggest people get over it and realise that he was just doing a job for the club who actually gave him a breakthrough in the Premier League. Alan Shearer celebrated enough goals against us before he joined us which is worth pointing out. He was just doing his job.

I can’t really comment on Perez as I can’t say my personal knowledge of the Spanish second division is up there with the best. He sounds like a decent enough prospect though but we don’t exactly have a great record of developing prospects do we? Plus he is said to be small, technical and pacey, which isn’t the kind of player that Pardew seems to like. He’s not even a left-back for goodness sake!

So back to my original question. How do I feel about these two new signings. Uninspired I guess. Yes we need our squad building but that is through the neglect from the past few transfer windows, but we also need our first team strengthened and whilst Colback may strengthen it overall, I’d like to think we have our eyes on better players to plug those gaps in the first team.

I’m in danger of sounding like I’m clamouring for superstar signings. I’m not. But I do want the first team strengthened and for me neither of these should be doing that.

That is why I’m underwhelmed…

  1. Ice . it’s a bloody embarrassment being associated with that bunch of ***** and I was hoping we would see a parting of the ways and a new sponsor so I could go back to buying Toon tops. 🙁

  5. I think its fair but put it into context with other things there is no consistency. Which is the major problem. We just need consistency with the punishments.

Think he is also getting a huge fine

  6. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided that:

    · The player Luis Suárez is regarded as having breached art. 48 par. 1 lit. d of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC) (assault), and art. 57 of the FDC (an act of unsporting behaviour towards another player).

    · The player Luis Suárez is to be suspended for nine (9) official matches. The first match of this suspension is to be served in the upcoming FIFA World Cup™ fixture between Colombia and Uruguay on 28 June 2014. The remaining match suspensions shall be served in Uruguay’s next FIFA World Cup match(es), as long as the team qualifies, and/or in the representative team’s subsequent official matches in accordance with art. 38 par. 2a) of the FDC.

    · The player Luis Suárez is banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) for a period of four (4) months in accordance with art. 22 of the FDC.

    · A stadium ban is pronounced against the player Luis Suárez in accordance with art. 21 of the FDC as follows: the player Luis Suárez is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium during the period of the ban (point 3). The player Luis Suárez is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium in which the representative team of Uruguay is playing while he has to serve the nine-match suspension (point 2).

    · The player Luis Suárez is ordered to pay a fine in the amount of CHF 100,000.

The decision was notified to the player and the Uruguayan FA today.

“Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at a FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field. The Disciplinary Committee took into account all the factors of the case and the degree of Mr Suárez’s guilt in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Code. The decision comes into force as soon it is communicated,” said Claudio Sulser, chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.

  7. Suarez gets 4 months then, he should get 4 months in prison alone for the assault and more like four years banned from the sport, but Fifa were never going to come down too hard on him. Hopefully Uruguay get smashed in the next round then, their F.A have embarrassed themselves by sticking up for him.

  8. “Luis Suarez has now been banned for 34 games since 2010, despite not receiving a single red card.”

People are talking about the Football related activity could also mean transfers. Though i doubt it. Liverpool are coming of the worst in all this.

Wonder how much wages he will get docked by Liverpool they have just saved a few million no doubt.

    No ❓

  14. Oh wait Pardew was fined by the club as well as the FA. Will be funny to see what Liverpool fine him then i guess.

  15. Liverfool are between a rock and a hard place
They don’t want to be selling their best player, but it doesn’t look good if they keep him either.

  16. Should of been a longer international ban imo but do kinda feel a bit for the Liverpool fans and owner as after standing by him after ivanovich he goes and does this. Having said that, they should of got shot as soon as he did it again imo, that they didn’t tells you how much money plays it’s part in the PL now. The guys an animal and doesn’t deserve the talent he was born with if he can’t handle it.

  17. Doesn’t the Spanish league kick off in Sept ❓ ,if he goes to Barca he’ll miss a lot less league games than at Liverpool

  18. So his first game back when he’ll be out to prove a point just so happens to be against, yes you’ve guest it, us. 👿

  19. With the money people pay for average English/British players it would be stupid not to try and get one in to the deal. Just look at what Hull spent on two bang average players. Stupid money

  24. Good stuff USA. BBC pundits sucking Germany’s balls all game kinda ruined the game for me though. Mark Lawrenson totally draining all life from the game.

  25. Watching ITV at the mo and they are talking about the ban. Round of applause to Gordon Strachan who openly admitted that there are no morales in football – god bless your honest sir!!.

      (Quote)

  26. Newkie…You could understand their point of view if it was a one off as the “incident” was in no way connected with owt to do with LFC but they’ve openly and proudly backed the dorty cheating racist biter in the past and only “punished” him by awarding him ever more lucrative contracts and hero worshipping the kernt but now it’s come back and bit them on the ****, so tough fukn ****. 😈

      (Quote)

  27. Personally I think that FIFA have not done enough. The ban isn’t long enough and the fine is a joke!.
7 game ban for his bite at Ajax
10 game ban for his bite at Lpool

So for me this ban should have been longer than those 2 bans combined in my opinion.
The fine is approx 3 days wages – what the **** is the point in that?.
How is that going to effect him in any way at all?.

      (Quote)

  28. 🙄 Wow, I see the lynch mob is out for Suarez! 😯 In his defence, I accidentally bit the inside of my cheek once while eating, so there is every chance that his bite was accidental as well.. 😎 Leave him alone!! 👿

      (Quote)

  29. Aussie…It’s your tongue you need to bite 😉

Sharpy…Fines for footballers(and clubs) are always a waste of time, when you take into account CL,Premier, cup and internationals then his ban “may” be more than the 2 previous bans combined…possibly?

  32. Aussie – I put my teeth through my bottom lip once, but that was nee accident – too much ale and one too many wise cracks to bouncer led to that 😳 😆 😆

    jail the ****

  34. So it looks like we’re selling the best of our youth prospects. Tav to Wigan and Medhi to Greece. I like them both and think they’re more than useful back up. Good enough for others to buy but not for Pardew it seems. Maybe though it’s just another example of Ash selling his granny.

  35. What makes him different to us Ice his he is paid millions of £ a year and helps create a revune of millions of £ a year for his club and essentially FIFA. Without sounding like a hippy fairy cake , the game is getting away from the fans. I think it should be applauded that the game has now a broader appeal and a bigger fan base but its wrong that the players are now so far away from the fans that a left back nearly crashed his car over not been offered another 5k a week or now a teenager is worth £30 miliion. The game is slowly dying

      (Quote)

  36. johno, Yep it’s been soulless for a long time now, so far removed from the pre PL days it’s hardly recognisable .

  37. JOHNO,so what we are saying is there is one law for them another for Joe public??it stinks IMO mate

  38. Yeah Kim it really is , and its just going to get worse n worse

Yeah Ice it is one law for them n one of for us. It does stink

  39. Did anyone else happen to see Gordon Strachan speaking about Suarez ban on ITV last night – it was before the Belgium game.
He was brutally honest in admitting that the game has no morals at all, and Chives, Wrighty and Dixon all disagreed – but Strachan was bang on!!.
Dixon was saying he didn’t know how Uruguay could appeal or defend Suarez.
Strachan said – of course they would, coz the bloke wins game and that’s all that seems to matter now. He said that clubs defend wife beaters, drink drivers and thugs who fight in nightclubs. He said that players like Suarez get lengthy bans and the fans will cheer him and sing his name when he returns – because he’s entertaining to watch and wins game. Liverpool gave him a new contract after his last ban.
He said, if this was a youth team player they’d be sacked and the club would not stand by them, but a player who can win games is protected and defended in a way that no other person in society would be.
Strachan said that clubs have no morals for keeping the player and the fans have no morals defending him.

He was bang on IMO, but the other 3 disagreed with him.

Personally, I’m all for giving people a second chance. We’re all human and we are all capable of mistakes. There should be punishment and forgiveness, there should also be help given. But the person themselves has to acknowledge what they have done, and look to change or improve themselves. I’ve never seen that from Suarez. The man is a disgrace and I agree with Ice. In 4 mth time Suarez will return and be worshipped by fans because he scores goals. In 6 mths all will be forgotten and we will continue to earn a ridiculous amount of money – he may even be sold to Barca for £50-70m and get a better weekly wage than he’s on now!.
Ban him for life and let the young football fans and aspiring footballers of this world know that this is not acceptable – rather than rewarding the bloke.

      (Quote)

  40. Sharpy ,totally agree mate. I have seen people say it’s not as bad as a leg breaking tackle or elbow like but they are missing the point. The point being he has now done this 3 times!, he never learns and actually as assaults go it’s pretty rank, does anybody know how filthy the human gob is, because believe me if he drew blood it could be a serious concern . The mans a liability to Liverpool and his club and shouldn’t be playing at all imo.

      (Quote)

  41. I agree with Gordon on this I am afraid. Football has no morals at all.

On another brighter note, it looks like fans are starting to follow me in my Peoples army protest. This is off the NUFC website:

Season tickets for Newcastle United’s 2014/15 campaign have now been released on general sale and many areas of St James’ Park currently have availability.

There’s lots of availability because we are sick to the back teeth of you ****** losers and we want CHANGE!

    ASHLEYOUT! 🙂 🙂

  42. Manure and the Dippers getting busy spending big I see, and the window ain’t even open yet, not that it will make much difference to us like 😉

Got a feeling Jabbas hoping to sell Debs and or Krul for big bucks before he’ll consider spending anything decent . If only the club had some money to spend, rolls eyes.

  47. I like Krul one of our better keepers, most good keepers have one fault to me Kruls was coming out among players to take balls from set pieces otherwise hard to fault in a crappy defence we had at times
