Now I must make clear that this is only a rumour at this stage and the provider of this inside information is Foot Mercato. I took the time to have a look at their website but to be honest, it proved fruitless as my French speaking abilities really comes down to a few cuss words at best.
This rumour does seem to have some legs though. After playing in most of the pre-season games Mbiwa has been a noticeable absentee in the Premier League thus far and really doesn’t look like breaking into the starting eleven any time soon. Couple this with reports that we are interested in Micah Richards and Virgil Van Dijk and it seems that there really may not be any future for Mbiwa at Newcastle.
After signing from Montpellier in January 2013 for a reported £8.5m fee, Mbiwa came to Newcastle with a very good reputation and great deal of excitement was building amongst Newcastle Fans. During his first season he played 14 games (three as sub) and looked a little off the pace as he tried to adapt to the cut and thrust of the Premier League. I can’t speak for everyone but most fans were more than willing to give him some time to adapt and show what he was really capable of.
The 2013/14 season was his chance to show what he could bring to the team but unfortunately he struggled to keep a hold of a starting place in the first team. In the end he made 23 appearances (five as sub) and between some promising performances there were some terrible gaff’s that really seemed to set him back. His red card against Liverpool was the moment he lost the faith of Alan Pardew in my opinion. Even when we were leaking goals at the end of the past season, Pardew seemed reluctant to give the young Frenchman another chance and centre half. When given the opportunity to play it was left back and this could hardly be called his preferred position on the park.
So, what of Mbiwa. Is he a good player that has not been utilised properly and given the time to come to terms with the Premier League? Or is he simply out of his depth and Newcastle are wise to move him on so they can look at getting a new centre half signed before the transfer window shuts?

I’m not looking down on Besiktas. But the fact is that they’re a Europa League team in a sub-standard league. Every club in Europe in England, Spain, Germany and Italy must be deemed as a better club to join, probably in France too.

Whumpie – I think the club had 3 or 4 summer targets for CF – Remy being option 1 having had a successful loan period. But we have also tried to sign Lassoga, Gomis and Lacazette this window.
I think Charnley has done well this summer with the players he’s brought in, but it goes to show how difficult it can be trying to bring in CFs.
I think players like Welbeck will see Spurs and Arsenal as better options than NUFC.
Whickham could be an option, but it would depend on Sunderland bringing someone in for themselves – and even then, would they want to sell to us – and is he the 15 goal a season CF that we need?.
Is there another loan option that could suit us? – I can only think of Guiletti from the top 4 in England, but I couldn’t say he’s any better than what we already have to be honest.

Don’t give any weight to that rankings site you posted. Anyone could make up a site, decide how points are allocated and voila! It’s not official, it’s not endorsed and there’s no clarity on how points are allocated. It could just be made up by some student as far as I can tell.

I don’t think anyone is particularly enamoured of Remy, but I’m still on the “better than nothing” side (just) because he was here for the same (****) reasons last seasons and did ok.

With Remy it’s all agents stuff. No way has a journo asked Remy if he wants to join NUFC and he’s said “No.” Remy wants what is best for Remy and both he and his agent want that to be a CL club with a CL striker’s wages. I reckon he’ll stay at QPR with the hope that a CL club will pick him up in Jan or next summer. If he doesn’t think the setup at QPR will allow him to showcase his skills, then he’ll want to move to a club like Newcastle to push for a move to a CL club next summer. Modern greedy footballer…

MYM wasn’t playing well. He might have done well for a game but Colo was reinstated knowing he would get back up to a level that’s simply higher than MYM.
Clearly MYM hasn’t shown it in matches or training to be good enough for this club. Why do you think they would let him go if he’s that good? And why do you think newly promoted PL clubs wouldn’t try to loan him if he’s got what it takes for the PL? It would be in NUFC’s interest to have him play for a whole season in the PL for the likes of Leicester, because if he did well then we could take him back next season.

But don’t forget that we regularly sign players from the likes of Holland and France where they already play in Europe. Players want to join us to prove they have the ability in one of the best (and richest) leagues. They obviously want to do it to ultimately earn a move to one of the biggest clubs in the PL and get the money, the status and the trophies often associated with that. Players don’t move from the PL to Besiktas for ambition frankly…

Aston Villa have shown with Hutton and Zog that players who appear to be finished with the club, can find a way back in. Personally I’d play Benny on the left with Dummett behind him then tell Dummett to forget about getting forward and concentrate solely on defending – that would negate Benny having to track back as Colback could help Dummett out –

I think it’s safe to say I have seen Virgil Van Dijk more than anyone else on this forum (my Celtic situation is likely known by most) and I can safely say if we are being offered him anything up to £10m – MUST BUY.
He is a ridiculously good player. He is Coloccini in an almost scary way just without the age deterioration. Obviously he has been blessed a bit by playing in Scotland but he’s still young and his potential is bonkers.
Just in case people wanted an opinion from someone who has actually seen him more than YouTube.

I can’t believe some of the opinions on Mbiwa on here. He had been treated terribly and made a scapegoat for APs shortcomings, along with the other obvious players. When he has played CB last season we have statistically let in less goals (check NUFC stats on twitter, he has done up stats). Yes he had a few poor performances but nothing that colo, willo and Taylor haven’t done in the last two seasons.
Can you honestly say he’s so poor that the three amigos are better players? Willo is a donkey and as avg as they come, colo is ageing and his performances are suffering, and Taylor is a clown. Surely an ex captain of French league winners and international can get into a team that has let in close to 130 goals in two seasons? He isn’t the saviour but he’s the youngest and has the most potential of our seniors CBs. I’d love to see the other three be forced to play RB when we have an injury and form crisis. The mind boggles how people can’t see how badly AP has messed up here

Yes, Virgil has been immense in the Champions League. He and Forster were our two stars in Europe. He is a one man defence in domestic.
There is one goal VVD scored in domestic football where he takes it from defence and just runs and scores on his own. It’s a Messi goal from his own defence.

Why are some people so hung up on our manager that MYM seemingly failing to make the grade us his fault, yet he deserves no credit for the improvement of the likes of Debuchy, Cabaye, Tiote etc.
1 player. 1 significant transfer failure since the Xisco days. Not a bad record I’d say. Pointless tripping out some stats to prove your point when you don’t have access to the stats from training, from Prozone etc. He only played a few matches because he didn’t earn his spot.
And I asked a really simple question! If he’s so good, why aren’t the lower down PL clubs asking to take him on loan? Would suit all parties. But they’re not interested.
