Relegation: Fear not!

Well our curly haired on field leader has stepped forward out from the off field shadows to reassure fans that there is no fear of relegation this season. To quote our captain directly – “No, it feels very different because we have controlled games. Last time we went down, we could not control games. Now we do. We try to create chances.”

Don't you worry about a thing!
Don’t worry about a thing!

I am not really sure what to make of this statement. It really seems the leaders around the club are singing for the same hymn book when it comes to media quotes. Pardew has stated numerous times that we have controlled games but with no results. I have always been suspicious of talk that comes across as lip service. To me actions always speak louder than words and I really don’t draw much confidence from the quotes we have seen in the press recently. An example of this is the Mike Williamson “We are behind Pardew 100%” quotes from a few days ago. Once again, it rings of lip service, so maybe they should take a leaf out of Tiote’s book!  To me he has dead set made his mind up to leave at the first opportunity based on what he has been saying. If that is the case, I would be looking to make sure he had plenty of bench time from now until  December if he was not interested in signing a new contract.  Well that is what I would do if I were in charge but I can’t see Pardew benching his main man.

I guess it is a double edge sword in regards to the amount of information we want to be fed through the press from the players and coaching staff. Many of us now regard most of what we read with deep suspicion, particularly when times are tough as they are now. Like I mentioned earlier, I would prefer actions over words in these circumstances. Captain Collo doesn’t speak to the media very often so maybe his words carry a bit more weight as a result, or maybe he has been backed into a corner through bad results and simply feels the need to say something in response.

If things keep going the way they are and we do indeed get relegated, Mike Ashley will find out that talk is not very cheap at all!

  1. Kim-before I saw what you wrote at 74 I was about to say, it will probably do you a favour and you might actually enjoy your night 😆

I’m tempted to not watch but it’s more out of those stupid gambling esque rituals, maybe if I walk out the room we’ll score etc 😉

  2. @CC

Wow! 😯 Marriage counsellor are you? 🙄

So he’s not allowed to say that it’s affecting his family? How do you know what occurred when he had an affair. 🙄

That’s been and gone and this is the present. He’s probably hoping that some idiot fans might listen and leave his family alone including his kids. Of course, as I’ve said, some people don’t think too deeply. 🙄

  3. Troy is backing Pardz because it goes against popular blog opinion. It makes him feel unique. If everyone was saying the players were ****, Troy would be slagging off Pardew.. once you work this out, Troys posts make more sense!

  4. Aussie calm down fella. You’ll blow a gasket. 😛

I also fought against the bloggers when condemning Ashley. I did that because I think deeply. You should try it. 😉

All he needs to do, is walk away, then it stops.

If he’s as good a manager as he would have people believe, then he won’t have any problems with future employment.

He can fill his spare time, polishing his – manager of the year trophy – until he’s snapped up.

  6. Troy, I think you don’t appreciate my blog time with you.. Over nearly half a decade or so, I have totally worked you out and yet i still have time for you… hissy fits and all! 😛

  7. Pardew’s staying. He wont get sacked because he would get a big pay off. Ashley doesn’t like spending money on anything so sacking him is out of the question. He a bloody **** manager. He never drops his favourites players for a player that’s better in that position. He rushes players back from injury and then there out even longer. His constant excuses and lying for his money grabbing friend Mike Ashley. His boring 4 2 3 1 formation, head butting players, shoving lines men is not on. However we have Mike Ashley who has no passion for the club, no ambition whatsoever but even worse than that is the 52,000 fan’s that turn up and pay money to watch this ****.

  8. This sack Pardew campaign is pointless because we will get someone even worse, with no experience. Now Ashley out cards makes more sense.

  9. Totally agree with you Kim. The fan’s wont do it. I do think Ashley will stay away for the home match against Sunderland. If we lose that it will be very hostile for Pardew and especially Ashley.

He was actually referring to this Howard Hughes style obsession of his that the media are out to get him and his family are having to witness it. He said nothing about idiotic fans upsetting his kids.

Thankfully he’s putting their feelings first by vowing to carry on and ignore them.

  11. Wow.
Got to love Aussie. He’s nicked every slogan and craic since I’ve been on. 😀

I love those who say he should walk away. Why should he?
He’s getting paid handsomely and it’s not his fault Mikey has starved him of players. There’s new way I would walk. I would do my best and carry on. You’s might be quitters but Pards isn’t 😉

As opposed to falling to pieces.
Could tomorrow be the day when Pards has the last laugh ❓

    ———————– Krul ——————–
    Janmaat – Willo – Colo – Dummet
    ——————— Tiote ——————-
    Oba – Sissoko – Colback – Goof
    ——————- Rivière —————–

    And I reckon we’ll get beat 3-0.

  18. Wow. Mr October. 😆

I wasn’t getting paid handsomely for being on the same blog as my brother who vowed never to speak to me again over an issue on the blog.
    😛

He still hasn’t spoke to me for almost 2 years cos I haven’t replied to his 25 page letter about the blog and questions he wanted answering in relation to it. 😛

Fascinating stuff. I don’t know if it’s a disease but I suspect it’s something in the genes that I thangully didn’t get. 😉

I’ve contacted the BBC to see if they would do a documentary on it. They approached you bro but because he wrote out a 25 page contract they gave him a wide berth as well. 😛

I never give in Mr October. That’s why I am

  19. I think Ashley is a disgrace. He has sold our best players for a profit and takes forever to find a replacement because he wont pay the going rate. He has spent **** all in five years but none of that is Pardew’s fault and no descent manager would put up with it. Why would you put up with Ashley’s **** and be hated by the fan’s.

The best thing we can do is get relegated. It’s the only way to get rid of the fat *******. Give our academy players a chance to shine and produce a premier league side with english talent. Or stick with the fat ******* forever

We even exhumed a former King, chopped his head off and stuck his heed on the gates of Westminster to prove he was dead! Disgusting all the same.

I have one question though; Why do these people keep going out there to help these people when this is a possibility? On man who’s a hostage now got kidnapped 2 years ago and went back this year and got kidnapped again. Just crazy!

Relegation may see Ashley sack Pardew and invest enough into the club to get them back in the PL – but it would get rid of the fat **** IMO.

  32. Mike Ashley won’t sell until/unless he get’s his asking price and his interest free loan back, even if we drop the asking price won’t so why would anyone think he’ll find a buyer as a Championship club when there are no takers to buy us as a Premier league club? 🙄

My hopes are pinned on the ‘he definitely won’t sell this season or next’ statement…and this is purely speculative thoughts from my slightly deranged mind, but is that statement because there is already a buyer waiting in the wings but that’s how long it would take him to get all/most of his loan back and then be able to sell the club for a more realistic price? Is it because that is at least how long he thinks it’ll take to get full control of Rangers? Is it because in all likelihood after that timescale Rangers will be playing in Europe again? Is it a combination of some or all of those things or indeed none of the above? …I can only hope and dream.

  34. My view on Ashley is that he would sell the club if we were relegated. He would sell it at a loss too I reckon. It’s a different financial climate to the last time we were relegated and he certainly doesn’t need the Agro – especially with his interest in Rangers growing.

The reality is that NUFC will always be Hera, so if it took a year or so outside of the PL to get rid of Jabba I’d take it. Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forward.

Anyway, I see the rumour mill has Pardew dropping Cabella today… That lasted long didn’t it? To be replaced with Obertan! Anyone who still thinks we have a decent squad please give your head a shake!

  37. If I’m allowed to make a comment without thinking too deeply, and being slated for not thinking too deeply, (breath) then I would agree with Richie, that Mash wont sell up until he has repaid his loan, at least.
This must be the new 3 year plan, starting with the increased tv income.
If we are not spending the money, then it must be going somewhere.
3 yrs x £40M should just about see the job done.
He can then sell the club for what he brought it for and get out.
Always providing he can find a buyer, and we don’t get relegated.

  39. This is what manager Alan Pardew has said today:

“For us, our focus is on the short-term, and see where we are when we get to January, because we really need to be away from the bottom six or seven.”

“Otherwise, in January, we might need to do something, because we want to be in the top half. That’s our focus.”
    .
    “OTHERWISE” 😕 😕 ❓
So if we get away from the bottom 6 or 7 there will be no spending in January. Was that the original plan then ❓

  40. Think Richie has in part got it right @121 with the Rangers question. I do think he is waiting for them to progress further up the leagues then he’ll make his move. Question is will he still want us? hopefully not .

      (Quote)

  41. Mind you I don’t see him being welcomed with open arms by Rangers fans, they are already boycotting his SD stores over the naming rights fiasco. If he sells us and buys them it will be a case of going from frying pan into the fire and he will find that lot a lot more vociferous than us.

  42. There is no rush for him to take over at Rangers Kim.
It does look like he is manoeuvring his pieces into position, but this is not yet the time for him to strike just yet.
He is quite happy for the Rangers boards to keep digging their own holes deeper and deeper.
The fans will love him when he rescues them properly, you’ll see.

  43. Kim – the last paragraph is just for you. 😛

    Percy said:
“The characters of players will grow as we go along. This is a difficult club to play for, I think. It can be the greatest club in the world to play for when you are winning, but we are not winning, so it becomes even harder to play for us, and we need to make sure we can handle that.

“These players are going to learn more in the next six weeks, probably, than they have for the last two years of their careers.

“Initially this season, the third or fourth game in prior to Southampton, I could shield them to a degree and I was trying to shield them from the pressure that was coming on me.

“But I think it’s too late now. The pressure is going to come through the team, it’s coming through the staff, it’s coming into the training ground so, although it is directed on me, of course the whole squad is feeling it.

“It’s really important for us on Saturday that we give a performance that gets us clapped off at the end, even if it isn’t good enough. I think that’s what we have got to look for on Saturday. That will be my hope, that our fans clap our players off.”

      (Quote)

  44. he continues with
“It’s important we step up to the plate,” he said. “We need to lean on the experienced players. Coloccini has been relegated here. He knows what can happen at this football club and that was a bloody good squad which went down (in 2009).

“This is a much younger squad than that. We haven’t got time to wait for players to come through. We need that to happen now. Remy Cabella has got to start performing now. Our younger players like Sammy Ameobi and Paul Dummett have got to deliver, we aren’t hanging about anymore. You have to deliver.

“But that might not be a bad thing. If we were in this position with six games to go I’d be worried. We’ve got a lot of games to go and we’re getting battle-hardened. We’ve had good aggression on the training ground this week.”
“Yes I think it is good enough because I believe in the squad, of course,” said Pardew. “If we had one game to go and we needed three points, I would still believe in the squad. That’s how football managers are made.

“It doesn’t matter, when that window shuts, that’s my team, I have got to make it happen. I have got to produce out of that team. I have got to find a way. That’s my job.

“I think it is possible to still have a good season after a bad start. In the past teams have starts like this and have finished really strongly. For us our focus is on the short term and the see where we are when we get to January.

“We really need to be away from the bottom six or seven otherwise in January we might need to do something because we want to be in the top half no doubt and that is our focus.”

I would take the championship if it meant the end of Ashley, Sports direct, Wonga and Pardew. His made profits in the last three season’s and the debt remains the same ? Maybe the people from N.U.S.T could find out where the moneys gone. I just don’t understand the point in remaining in the league if we have to put up with Pardew’s tactics, poor football and Ashley milking every penny he can get.
