Relegation: Fear not!

Well our curly haired on field leader has stepped forward out from the off field shadows to reassure fans that there is no fear of relegation this season. To quote our captain directly – “No, it feels very different because we have controlled games. Last time we went down, we could not control games. Now we do. We try to create chances.”

Don't you worry about a thing!
Don’t worry about a thing!

I am not really sure what to make of this statement. It really seems the leaders around the club are singing for the same hymn book when it comes to media quotes. Pardew has stated numerous times that we have controlled games but with no results. I have always been suspicious of talk that comes across as lip service. To me actions always speak louder than words and I really don’t draw much confidence from the quotes we have seen in the press recently. An example of this is the Mike Williamson “We are behind Pardew 100%” quotes from a few days ago. Once again, it rings of lip service, so maybe they should take a leaf out of Tiote’s book!  To me he has dead set made his mind up to leave at the first opportunity based on what he has been saying. If that is the case, I would be looking to make sure he had plenty of bench time from now until  December if he was not interested in signing a new contract.  Well that is what I would do if I were in charge but I can’t see Pardew benching his main man.

I guess it is a double edge sword in regards to the amount of information we want to be fed through the press from the players and coaching staff. Many of us now regard most of what we read with deep suspicion, particularly when times are tough as they are now. Like I mentioned earlier, I would prefer actions over words in these circumstances. Captain Collo doesn’t speak to the media very often so maybe his words carry a bit more weight as a result, or maybe he has been backed into a corner through bad results and simply feels the need to say something in response.

If things keep going the way they are and we do indeed get relegated, Mike Ashley will find out that talk is not very cheap at all!

  1. You would think given the terrible run so far that Percy would take a lower profile, but oh no, not him. We’ve had’ it’s affecting my family’ and now it’s ‘affecting the team and all the staff apparently’ . Perhaps it’s the owners inaction to properly stock us and Percys useless tactics that are piling on the pressure, and not in fact the fans chanting for the head of one and sometimes two men.
Pillock , stop whinging and do your job and stop passing the buck.

  2. Feels like Souness last weeks at SJP; He scraped a similar result against Boro like Pardew did with Hull. 2-2 draw, Late equaliser, Clarky high fived him on the touchline (like Cisse did with AP) press gushing about fight and players still being with him

A few more limp defeats and he was gone, Ashley maybe enjoying winding people up but sense has to prevail while the season is salvagable

  3. This is unbearable. 😈

Aussie is the only person in the world who speaks to me now! I don’t even know what he looks like.

I have an image of a little duck footed, 5ft 3in, wizzened ex pat who wears stereotypical Oz gear with corkscrews round the hat, working in the bush, making a living from selling skinned kangaroo rugs!

Terry, don’t make it any worse between us. He’s Clueless but harmless. 😳 😛

  4. Well today we will get beat. That I have no doubt. This squad is relegation material. The worst Ive seen in a very long time.

If Pards gets a win then he’s excelled and done a great job.

As KK says, Pards will be asking for players and he won’t be getting them. 😉

I would rather believe KK than BB cos KK worked for him and BB is long term unemployed. 😆

  5. Troy,
Prediction comfortable 2 – 0 win for Swansea.
Granted that the team is poor but the FOOL will continue to persist with his ultra negative tactics and play a lone striker again.
It is an idiot who never changes his plan after repeated failure

  6. Krul, Janmaat, Coloccini, Williamson, Dummett, Colback, Tiote, Sissoko, Obertan, Cisse, Gouffran

Subs: Elliot, Haidara, Anita, Ameobi, Cabella, Riviere, Perez

So the solution to our goalscoring problems are dropping our most creative player and not having our most natural finisher on the bench… 😕

  7. Perez should be starting up top with Cisse..
Our defensive Pardewed winger Gouffran should be on the bench.
    The FOOL will never learn!!!

  8. Aye but he has, But that was likely with the same stifling style Ben Arfa & Marveaux couldnt adapt to still in place.

  9. CC – other than Cisse (coz I thought he’d be rested), it’s exactly the team I suggested. I reckon they will set up 4-1-4-1 as well.

Why the hell is he so adamant not to play 2 CFs?!.
Adam Armstrong doesn’t even make the bench???
No CH on the bench either????

  10. Players changes, formation wise…. we shall see.

    Official website states 4-3-3,

We shall see how it turns out to be..

It might be 4-2-3-1 again. 🙄 But as long as Cisse is the main central striker and not on wings, we pray he can score goals without being offside too many times. 🙄

  11. He said there would be changes – bet no one imagined they’d be so minimal. Why leave Gouffran there when it could be Arma or Perez?
    Plot lost 👿

  12. It still looks totally disjointed to me.

I would rather see a 4-4-2 with Sammy on the left and Oba on the right with Perez or Rivière up top with Cisse. Drop Goof and Sissoko.

  13. Little weasel face Dennis ****head Wise is on Bein sports talking about how much fat ash cares about Newcastle united. I want to reach into my TV and snap his neck

  14. Jesus! Can Pardew really survive another defeat? He is the worst football manager I have ever seen. No football philosophy hence buying players with incongruent attributes. No congruence at all in this line up

he is almost reverting completely back to last season’s team and this is only game 7. Jesus, Jesus and all the prophets!

  15. I only hope he plays 4-4-2 to show it will make not a jot of difference. If you haven’t got the players good enough then formations are defunct.

  16. There’ll be some devastated bloggers on here now! We’ve scored!

Come on Pards! You are excelling getting a goal with these crap players!

    Love it!

  17. so percy ditches his 4-2-3-1 and reverts to 4-3-3 and we are still in it.
    we have even scored 😯
Could it be hat Percy was wrong all along 😕

  18. What a crap match. Just keep giving the ball away. We were gifted one ball and instead of attacking we just pass it backwards… OMG.
Well I hope he puts on Perez for Gouffran at half time. More than likely he will replace Cisse with Rivière on 85 mins…
