Cisse gives Jose the blues! Newcastle 2-1 Chelsea

Cisse sinks Chelsea
Cisse sinks Chelsea
All of the talk prior to the game was centred around Chelsea and the possibility of going through a season unbeaten.

That possibility is now a thing of the past thanks to a brace from Papiss Cisse who scored his fifth and sixth league goals of what has been a stop-start campaign for the Senegalese striker.

Of course this isn’t the first brace he’s scored against Chelsea with two spectacular strikes earning us a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge a few seasons ago. This time around his goals were of a different quality as he joined the game from the bench and demonstrated the knack of being on the right place at the right time proving that if you provide him with enough service he can and will score goals.

It was backs against the walls stuff for a lot of the game with United seemingly happy to let Chelsea have the ball in their own half whilst stifling any room for the more creative players within the Blues’ ranks to stamp their mark on the game. The likes of Diego Costa, Fabregas, Hazard and Willian were quiet on the day by all accounts.

That was to be expected as Jose Mourinho’s side have been drawing praise from all quarters but in the end it was the determination of United that won the day despite ten (well, 16 actually) very tense minutes at the end of the game following Steven Taylor’s dismissal for a silly second yellow card being punished immediately by Didier Drogba heading beyond Jak Alnwick but the visitors were unable to find an equaliser.

It’s a notable achievement for a Newcastle side that just a few months ago was floundering at the foot of the table yet now find themselves in and around the European places. It is of course early days and we’re not even halfway through the season but winning games isn’t a bad habit to be getting into.

Howay the lads!

  1. Troy, I am realistic mate, we just don’t have to lose by 4 goals, and play absolutely ***** into the bargain.

  2. at times we perform like the worst team in the EPL. Absolutely clueless. Today was one of those days..

    yet more shyte
How do you figure that pearl of wisdom out ❓

  4. I see the blog jester is defending Pardew again. Pards has gotten a lot right lately but he was wrong today. Shame too as Arsenal was there for the taking

      (Quote)

  5. Well I hope if Jabba watched today that he will realise it would be a disaster to flog Sissoko cause we sure missed him today. Also how **** does Colo look when he’s paired with Willo. Percy has to see that pairing doesn’t work by now.

at times we perform like the worst team in the EPL. Absolutely clueless. Today was (yet another) one of those days..

Who is to blame for that then.?
    Ashley ?

  7. MM at the min i’m not really fearing the mackems this time round, as I think today was just a fuk up of a game, and tbh the scorers today for me I would class as top quality players even if we played **** .

BB sometimes I think you let your hatred for Pards cloud your whole opinion of the toon, it seems to me you hatred for Pards is even stronger than your thoughts of the man that put him there and keeps him there.
IMO that is part of Jabba’s reason to stick to Pards, as he knows that he will deflect the abuse from him. but thats just my opinion maybe you hate Jabba aswell but just don’t tell us 😉

  8. A date for the diary!!. I agree completely with Troy today 😯

I know Pardew said he was to blame for personnel, but realistically his options were limited today and I don’t think swapping Goof for Anita would have changed the outcome much – maybe the scoreline but not the outcome.
I’ve always thought we have a decent squad, but that’s decimated at the moment, and we are having to play players I’d rather see us sell to be honest.

Boots – your avoidance of Troys questions is making you look ridiculous now mate. I’m not having a pop, and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you aren’t giving an opinion one way or another – and to sit on the fence until the Scum game doesn’t make any sense at all.

      (Quote)

  9. Beardsley Boots spot on mate. We our the lowest spending team in the premiership. The club has made profits over the last three season’s and none of it’s been spent.

      (Quote)

  10. MDS sorry mate but I disagree with you that **** were there for the taking even with their injuries they still have quality,so I wouldn’t say they were their for the taking, I wouldn’t say they were there for the taking unless it was by a full strength top team which we arn’t
MM I have been saying Willo was gash from we signed him, he is a championship player nothing more

      (Quote)

  11. Sharpy – I’m not avoiding Tory’s inquisition mate.
I’ve already said quite clearly, that I will admit I am wrong if we beat the scum next week.
    What’s wrong with that ?
Why should 6 wins on the trot be the determining factor if I am right or not.?
    Don’t worry about it fella.

      (Quote)

  12. How com Graham Carr never gets any criticism ?
Carbella ? Riviere ? Siem De Jong ?
They have all been big let down’s so far this season.
Janmatt, Colback and Perez have been very impressive however.

      (Quote)

  13. BB @ 391 ” Why should 6 wins on the trot be the determining factor if I am right or not.?”

So why should 1 game against the mackems be the determining factor 😆

      (Quote)

  14. Big Dave – I do NOT hate Pardew.
I just don’t rate him as highly as some.
Just as you don’t rate Willo, as any better than a championship player, neither do I rate Pardew even that good.
But clearly Willo IS a PL player and Pardew IS a PL manager, whether we like it or not.
Clearly you are allowed your opinion, but I’m not.
    Whatever

      (Quote)

  15. you may not think so, but the derby match is very important to a lot of fans.
It has even more significance and importance this season after all the recent defeats.
Can percy pull a win out of the hat for a change.
If he is so good, he should manage at least that surely?
    we will see.

      (Quote)

  16. Boots –

“Why should 6 wins on the trot be the determining factor if I am right or not.?”

Right about what?, you haven’t said if you think he’s out of his depth in the PL – that’s the question. I also fail to see how the outcome of the scum game would determine that either.

Terry – Rivière and Cabella are taking time to settle and as a result a question mark will be put over them – but be fair mate, De Jong has been injured all season. Surely he can’t be see as a flop if he’s injured – can he?!.

    Boots –

“Just as you don’t rate Willo, as any better than a championship player, neither do I rate Pardew even that good.”

That reads as if you think he’s out of his depth in the PL mind mate.

      (Quote)

  17. BB believe it or not but I do realise how important the Mackem game is 😯 but I still dont believe any manager should be judged on one game .

      (Quote)

  18. I didn’t accuse you of saying that Big Dave.
    Read what I wrote again.
I said you are entitled to your opinion, but I’m not.
ie No one is questioning you on your opinion on Willo, rightly or wrongly, its just your opinion.
So why should I answer to tory on my opinions, when he wants.
Don’t worry, I stand by my opinion, but if I’m wrong, I can and will admit it.
    In my time.
    Nighty night

      (Quote)

  19. Sharpy @ 397 yeah he is very cagey and just doesnt seem to put his cards on the table.

MDS yeah they had a lot of injuries but the back up players that they have would walk into most prem teams

      (Quote)

  20. Sharpy – I said it once mate, just once.
But Tory decided to make a big thing about it, as he does.
I don’t deny saying it. And I’m still not convinced otherwise yet.

      (Quote)

  21. BB @ 400 have you been on the sherbets > ” I said you are entitled to your opinion, but I’m not.”

So who said your not ??

As from the way I read that, was that you were saying that you wern’t entitled to your opinion, and as it was me that questioned you and it was me that you replied to with the statement ” I said you are entitled to your opinion, but I’m not.” so I just guessed that I was the one that wasn’t letting you have your opinion 😕
    but never worry

  22. A poor performance. We really missed Sissoko. The completely inconsistent impossible to predict season continues.

  23. @Troy

So everyone wants you to find your balls and simply answer a simple question. Is Pardew out of his depth as a premier league manager. We are all waiting.

    who’s everyone? you and BDave 😆 I don’t think ppl actually give a f**k 😉

Outclassed by a good team despite a few injuries, we looked weak in the middle but never mind a point would of been nice but we were away @Arsenal.. Next..

      (Quote)

  24. Wow. Bootsy is still searching for his balls.

A simple question asked of him weeks ago still gets failed to answer. YCMIU. 😉

    Mark
Myself, Dave & Sharpy want to see his answer. The thing is, he shouted and screamed his opinion on a daily basis when we were struggling, yet when Pards got another award, he hasn’t got the decency to stick by his guns.

No one is asking Bootsy to say Pards is good or he rates him. All i want him to confirm that he’s not out his depth as a premier league manager as he shouted this from the roof tops for us all to hear.

His silence now is deafening. 😉

    Comedy gold.

      (Quote)

  25. Mark

Your summary of the game is fair. Cam we really expect nufc to go to the Arsenal and play well? The last time was probably when SBR was in charge.

We were ambitious as a club then.

  26. A. Why did Gouffran start the match

    B. Why did Gouffran finish the match

    C. Williamson showed why er, I honestly can’t remember seeing a top flight player looking so uncomfortable on the ball.

Alnwick hasn’t done much wrong. Hi?s kicking is better than Krul &Elliot, We should still arrange to get a Schwartzer,Friedel

      (Quote)

  27. Let’s be realistic. Arsenal are a club with greater resources, better players, a better manager.

Why do people act surprised when they comfortably beat us in their own backyard?

      (Quote)

  28. Troy – for the record I’m not bothered one way or another what Boots answer is. If he believes that Pardew is out of his depth then he’s entitled to his opinion – I’m not saying I agree, but I respect his right to his opinion. Last night I was simply trying to point out to him, that by avoiding to answer you it gives you the high ground for want of a better phrase.
I also wasnt sure why the scum game was so important in his judgement of Pardew. But I’m certainly not hounding Boots for an answer.

As for the game yesterday. Both teams were weakened, but the big difference for me was Arsenals pool of creative players. AOC was a constant threat, Cazorla, Sanchez, Welbeck and Giroud are a total step up in class.

      (Quote)

  29. Troy, I don’t think anyone is surprised that Arsenal beat us in there own back yard. I was disappointed that we lost so badly against an understrength Arsenal. There are different ways to lose games, and we were hammered yesterday. I wasn’t surprised, I was extremely disappointed at the method of the defeat.
In fact it was a case of men against boys if you ask me.

      (Quote)

  30. @Troy opinions are just that, opinions.. We say things in the heat of the moment and maybe our opinions change a bit.

I bet 80% of Toon fans have changed their opinion on Pardew since our mini-revival. Not many would of been disappointed if he was sacked before we finally started getting wins.

I can imagine you at match days (if you still went to show your support for Alan 😉 ) with a clipboard in hand questioning every fan that had an opinion then sticking emoticon stickers on their forheed if they were wrong 😆

      (Quote)

  31. Munich – I think it was also a case that Arsenal were really up for it yesterday after a shocking start against Stoke last week. The players probably also felt bad about the stick Wenger has been getting and wanted to put on a good display for him.
They have come in for heavy criticism lately and I think Arsenal wanted to prove a point a bit yesterday. Your right though, our players seemed far to comfortable to allow them to do that.

      (Quote)

  32. @Sharpy. I’d agree with that, the showed solidarity for the manager, each other and fans

& tbh their team wasnt that weak.

      (Quote)

  33. Mark – looking at their team it was only really CB that they were weakened. The difference between Arsenals squad and ours is that they can loose one or two of their big players and the replacements are still good enough to ensure they win games comfortably.
We have a decent enough squad, but nowhere near their strength in depth. But then that’s the difference between a top 4 and a mid table squad I suppose.

      (Quote)

  34. To be fair to Bootsy re the Mackem games significance. Percy has a woeful record against them, as our biggest rivals he should of figured out a game plan by now that ensures we see them off. He has been with us long enough now to now the importance of the game and instil the motivation and tactical plan to see we beat them. That both Di Canio and Poyet in recent times have his number when both haven’t been in management as long as him is a worry imo. It shows that 17 years management means nowt if you can’t get our most important game right. It would also suggest that yes he is possibly out of his depth, what ever for me he is average, mid table to lower with the occasional good finish , and the odds are you would get that anyway if you manage a team long enough. Would a better owner who spent more and cared more help, possibly yes.

      (Quote)

  35. Mark, I said last night that I hope Jabba was watching and realises we would be mad to sell Sissoko. The worry though is Percy has recently been talking about Sissoko in the press, saying how good he is and how we are a club who are used to big clubs coming for our best players .

      (Quote)

  36. Troy, Boots has admitted he said Percy is out of his depth once. What you are asking now is if he still thinks he is, am I right?. Why would Boots change his mind now?, you must be referring to the 6 game winning run in which case you are having a laugh mate. Let’s see how we finish and where before we all start licking Percy’s **** .

      (Quote)

  37. @Kimtoon. Unfortunately thats the way it seems to work, Pardew glosses over our best players but admits we’re desperate to keep them and no clubs have made an inquiry…yet 😉

    and Ashley looks to sell.

It would be great if Pardew had the balls and tested Asleys resolve saying, “you know what, we’re in the black, we don’t need to sell our best players, if we had any ambition we need them to sustain a top 4 challenge (he did say that start of season)

but thats never gonna happen as Pardew would be here if he did..well..we can always dream anyway 😆

      (Quote)

  38. although players come here on the cheap, improve, get spotted, realise we have the ambition of Villa and decide, ” stuff that, I’m too good to be floating around here wasting my talent” and leave.

We need loads of happy clappers like Goofy, not quite good enough to be here but not quite good enough to be transferred to a more ambitious club.. 😀

We actually have a decent squad when everyone’s fit, we’e bought some great players. Ashley just needs to change his ways a little to make us that much better.. we’re so close we may never kno how close..

      (Quote)

  39. Kim – I would agree that Pardew is mid to lower league, who totally lacks consistency – having either over performed or under performed to the extreme. That is why there is such a divided opinion on the bloke. I would tend to agree that he is mid to lower league, but has been hugely hamstrung by Ashleys lack of investment in both players and staff.
Of course everyone knows how big the Scum game is, but if we loose it I can say I’d rate him any worse. Equally if we win he’s not greatly going up in my estimation either.

      (Quote)

  40. Sharples, I can’t see us winning the makkem game tbh. I’ll be ecstatic if we do, but I just can’t see it. Poyet has Pardew’s number. A bit like we have the heeby jeeby’s on Mourinho.

I fear 2 successive defeats coming up, with the prime factor being our weak central defensive unit.

      (Quote)

  41. Mark – I have no issues with some of our ‘purples’ being sold if the money is right mate – Krul, Santon, Tiote, Anita, Marv (purple based on wage), even Cisse. But we should be looking to build the team around players like Janmaat, Colback, Sissoko and youngsters like Dummett, Sammy, Aarons and Perez.
We should look to develop the squad around that core group of players IMO.

      (Quote)

  42. Sharpy, It won’t make my opinion of him shoot up if we beat them as it’s the very least I expect of a man with his experience, what is it 17years. God it can’t be that hard to find a formula to beat them even if we have injuries and they ARE cack right now.

      (Quote)

  43. Kim – his formula should be made alot simpler this season with more homegrown players around the first team. The likes of Saylor, Dummett, Sammy, Armaz and dare I say Colback should understand the magnitude of the fixture.

      (Quote)

  44. Well I see lord Sugar was pleased toon got thrashed as he does not like Pardew said he has been lucky in past games and is just a big head oh well that’s his thoughts,I thought Pardew got his tactics totely wrong to stick wilo in there their strikers must have been rubbing their hands the rest of our defenders must be sick of him,it must also be one of the worst defence they had for a good while they have never been great at defending but they were really weak y/day with injury ect,did we test that did we ****

      (Quote)

  45. @Sharpy. re, purples…totally agree, it works so its worth maintaining. just not the purplest of purples 😛 we have enough lighter shades of purples to give us a cash injection.

We knew Cabs was off a year before he left but did jack about it, we should of planned better. Hopefully we have learned since then, should Sissoko leave.

      (Quote)

  46. You can’t really blame anyone for this injury crisis at the moment. This club is cursed. We can only get so far before some other club takes everything away from us.

      (Quote)

  47. @Terry. alright optimistic one. 😉 the club is cursed? we may as well pack up and support G’heed then 😆

      (Quote)

  48. Mark I would rather give my money to Gateshead than Mike Ashley anyday of the week. This club isn’t called the poisonous chalice for nothing.

The fact that Betsy continues to avoid the question is a clear demonstration he has lost his balls.

His quote, that Pards is out of his depth as a premier league manager, is an absolutely ridiculous opinion. And you’re right. Everyone is allowed their own opinions. But it’s also my perogative to challenge ridiculous opinions.

  50. Munich – sorry mate I didnt see your earlier post to me mate, and I’ve had the boy out meeting Santa this afternoon. He was nearly as excited as Troy replying to one of Boots posts 😆

Regarding the Derby game, I’m gonna reserve judgement until I know who’s fit for the game. I think it’s become a fixture that truely petrifies Pardew now, and I have no doubt that he knows the importance of it.
I think he’ll be desperate to win the game, and that may actually cloud his decision making, I hope not though.
My other concern is that he puts the priority on the Scum game and aren’t on the money for the Spurs game.

Troy – you’re absolutely correct mate, it is also your right.

      (Quote)

  51. Makes you realise just how average our scouting is when we could have had bony and eriksen for about the same price as cabella and riv. If Ashley actually invested in the squad when things were going well we’d never have our ridiculous slimps in form and we’d be more likely to sell high at high value regularly – like saints do. Clearly that’s what he wants, he just so cautious these days. Wonder what might have happened if he was never stung by fat sam/wise.

      (Quote)

  52. Troyster @435, you’re starting to sound like a stuck record mate. 🙄

Let’s hear one of your well formulated arguments / reviews of the state of things at the toon. Bring something new to the table mate 😉

      (Quote)

  53. Thought Arsenal played very well yesterday and they were just too good for us.

Hope we put out a good side on Wednesday as I think we have a good chance. I’ll be there too which means I would like us to at least have half a chance.

      (Quote)

  54. Mark – that has always been my opinion as well mate. That’s why I was calling for Pardews sacking, because the players were there to have us higher than we were. Fortunately (for him) Pardew now has them playing again.

Newkie – how can you blame the scouting when we were in for Bony?. We also scouted Sakho who is scoring for fun for WHU this season as well, but the board won’t pay the money for the players!. Yip £3.5m for Sakho was deemed too much?!. It’s them we have to thank mate, not the scouts.

      (Quote)

  55. I would love to see the club go and sign Danny Ings, Andre Ayew and Winston Reid in Jan. All out of contract in the summer so fees wise it wouldn’t break the bank, but 3 very good players and excellent signings for our squad IMO.

      (Quote)

  56. Sharpy, Ice was saying there was reports Jabba wants Ings for Rangers 🙄
Mind you that little plaything looks like it might not get promoted at the mo.

      (Quote)

  57. Sharpy – I’m assuming it’s a bit of both. If we stumped up the cash for Cisse and Cabella then Ash is obviously willing to spend 10 mil, i’m assuming it just takes adequate persuasion. Carr claims he scouted Tiote so he has been in holland and France for for about 5 years now, scouting and the board to blame for Sakho too I would say!

      (Quote)

  58. MM

Ignore me. Skip my posts. I’m only interested in discussing the issue with Betsy.

I fail to understand why you are the least bit interested.

      (Quote)

  59. @Troy. You like to ridicule BB to make him look small, you’re like the class bully. poking fun at one for others to laugh at. we can’t skip when it populates every post

If we werent interested there would be no point in you posting, you live on the thought of entertaining us 😛

be nice for xmas, we all need a hug, even you 😯

      (Quote)

  60. Kim – I saw that story linking him with Rangers, it was in the Star newspaper.
Guess which papers morning report had NUFC as front runners to sign him this morning?! 🙄 😆

Newkie – it took 2 transfer windows to convince the board to splash the cash on both of those players you mention – fortunately nobody signed them in the meantime, but the same can’t be said for the likes of Bony.
It’s the board for me mate, as the vast majority of players we’ve signed have done really well. I think they are clearly working to Ashleys instruction like but they generally **** about too much with bids.

      (Quote)

  61. In 21 games, over 20 years, under 10 different managers, Sunderland only managed to beat Newcastle United 3 times, and never by more than a single goal. Between April 2013 and February 2014 Sunderland beat Alan Pardew’s Newcastle United 3 times by an aggregate score of 1-8.
    .
Perhaps this goes some way to explain my thinking of waiting until after the mackems match on sunday.
As well as one of the many reasons why I said “I think Pardew is out of his depth.”
Tory – I have an idea.
While I’m looking for my balls, (that would be on sunday then 😉 ) why don’t you hold your breath in anticipation. 😛
