Next in line!

Forget the cup. Forget Pardew. The only question of any importance for me at the moment is who will be the next manager, or should that be head coach?
Working within what we see as the main parameters of the job – and whether they are true or not is irrelevant for this exercise – which appear to be centred on budget constraints for new players and personal wage demands, who do you want next, and why?
The internet is full of shortlists for the job, so you should have no end of options available to you. I would imagine just about every possibility has been mentioned somewhere.
Having googled my way through many many of them, my vote goes to Lucien Favre.
I know almost nothing about the guy other than what I’ve read on the internet, but he may well fit the bill: he understands the head coach role, works with limited resources, works with young guys, plays a fast counter-attacking kind of football which would take Pard … er … the tactics of the last guy we had, to that coveted new level. He speaks French and English and has had some success with moderate sides.
I have no idea what his wage demands would be so it’s pointless me making any comments there, but perhaps a lucrative incentive package might help smooth the path.
So, for the sake of getting another thread running, throw your hat in the ring (rather than talking through it) …

  2. So you think Cabella is just ****? WOW! He’s young and his decision making will improve and I reckon he will be a good player next season.

  3. we need to give Cabella a canny few starts before we can judge. early signs arent great but hes new and hasnt played much tbh

  4. Perez has been targeted all match, ref needs to clamp down before someone does him real harm .

Bloody hell so close only to nearly concede on the counter 🙄

  5. we need to contain!!! I can’t get used to this free flowing footy 😛

  8. I think I said a few weeks ago Cabella would be a £20m + player in a couple of years and we’re seeing why. He’s young, he’s in a different country and a new culture. He needs time.

    Great today!

  9. pity…***** finish by Sissoko 👿 👿

What a pity the Chelsea left back is coming off, we have absolutely battered him this week. Philip Luiz is another kettle of fish 👿

  10. Dear oh dear! Cabella looks like Ronaldo, Sissoko looks like Pogba and NUFC look like Real Madrid! What is happening?! Give JC the job!

Great performance so far. Just hope we don’t regret the missed chances and our defence can defend when under pressure – which will happen. But great so far.

  11. Perez is also having one of his most ineffective games for us. Imagine if he was on the ball too! Entertainers MK II… 😀 😯

  12. Chelsea couldn’t really complain if were 1-3 up !!

What a magnificent first half so far from the toon. Look defensively strong, and giving Chelsea all sorts of problems at the other end… Cabella has been brilliant ! 😉

    Flock me, what a nutmeg from Collo on Diego Costa.. mint !!!! 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

  13. A decent first half. ****** about the goal. though. But I guess that quick thinking is the difference between our guys and theirs.

  14. We don’t deserve to be behind that half. 🙁 Sloppy getting caught out but the real problem is the lack of composure/luck in and around the box .

  15. carroll scored an absolute peach against swansea, how is he is netting with his feet and our boys have scuffed all their chances 😈

  16. As well as we have played, it really does sum up our lack of scoring options. We created a good few chances and haven’t scored. The board need to address this but they won’t.

  17. caught out for a second. we were playing great apart from the one lapse.

at least we’re going for it..

  18. Cabella was superb first half. Had that feeling, though, that if we didn’t score, they’d hit us somehow and a great first half would be wasted.

  19. like the commentator said, colo should not have given them the chance to put that corner right in when we weren’t set. Naieve really

  20. Hopefully there will be some games during the rest of the season where we pick up wins when we play like that. One things for sure Chelsea got kissed by the gods that half.

  21. Well it’s not over yet lads, it’s all about how we react now, 1 goal lead means nowt, get an early one back and they might get jittery again. 😉

  22. Is this NUFC playing? 😯 great first half apart from giving away a stupid goal at the end of the half. Hope we don’t do what we did against Burnley and go to sleep. Another half attacking like that please.

  23. Leicester and Burnley both winning by the way if it stays like that Burnley will be on 20p just 7 behind us. If Jabba thinks we are safe he’s a mug. Really need a forward and CB THIS window.

  24. how can that happen ? Collocini was off the pitch when Chelsea took that corner ? wtf was that ? The ref made an **** of that one..!!!!

Plus a bit **** from Collo, should have put the ball out for a corner !

    What a travesty !

      (Quote)

  25. Ah well. Thought we would regret missing our chances.

Think it could be 3 or 4 now and that would be harsh.

  26. Oh yes this theToon I remember.

Mike Williamson : hmm what shall I have for tea tonight? I think I’ll jog about and watch these guys in blue… Bit cold today… Oh dear they scored a goal… What team do I play for again? 😯

    What ****…
