Walking the dog.

Just taken the dogs for a walk in the lovely morning sunshine and got to thinking about possible outcome at Newcastle and wondering about what Ashley is up to. Bearing in mind that I think he is a rational businessman not some petty thieving antichrist out to make Geordies miserable). Here’s what I came up with.

Out for a walk!
Out for a walk!

Obviously management realise that cheaper players live in continental Europe, therefore they choose a coach like De Boer, Tuchel, etc who has experience with such players and can implement a whole-of-club playing style. They also want somebody who can turn Newcastle into something akin to an Ajax style academy. The relationship with coach and DoF works as planned (ie they decide mutually on the type of player they want.), They bring on youth players, and sell for great profits to finance new purples.

[Now for the bit where everybody groans]

Let’s suppose that Ashley is being very canny. He’s taken a few risks (some worked, some didn’t) but he now has the club stable in the mid-upper half of the table but moving into profit and able to finance itself. The 5year plan has finally come to fruition, a few years later than projected. The coach has kept the desired stability within the required parameters (what some call lack of ambition).

It’s now time to embark on the next 5 year plan – moving to the new level, expansion into new markets, raising the club brand (and SD’s with it). It’s a couple of seasons on from the coach appointment. Almost every team in the PL has a vast debt, but Newcastle are rolling in tv profits.

They are cashed up and almost completely immune to any changes in the world economy. His investment is secure and ready to pounce when the opportunity arises.

This to me seems a reasonably rational scenario. Probably not right (and let me hastily add that I’m neither yaying or naying at it here), but it’s an alternative way of looking at what’s gone on, rather than the blind accusations of greedy, filthy, pig-dog, ambitonless, rip-off asset-stripping piece of ****.

Unfortunately for fans, it’s a more of the same for a few years.. I doubt whether we are factored into the long-term plan.

Just thought I’d share that little thought with you.

  1. @Kim. the daily Troy-bashing is getting really boring and predictable. go easy love.. 😛

There is a clause that allows him to leave at the end of the Current season.

    14.23

Understand there is NO clause in Rolando Aarons’ contract to leave at end of season.

As I say, he doesn’t do compensation. You can cling on desperately to your poor response but it’s not making you look good 😉

    Brett
You hang on my every word. 😉

  4. I reckon Frank De Boar would rather extend his contract with Ajax than come to Newcastle. I just can’t see it happening. His got the luxury of managing the best team in Holland and winning honours. He can just wait patiently for a top job else where.

I’m not going to praise you for your comment about De Boer. It’s stating the obvious. However, many don’t get the obvious. This will go on all summer about us getting Tuchel, Klopp, Garde etc.

They just never learn that we will end up with Carver or someone similar.

  6. Aaron’s will be gone this summer. 6 grand a week is a joke of an offer. Lee must be as thick as pig **** to offer that much for are best youngster with years ahead of him to improve.

  7. Troy it is stating the obvious I agree. I would rather win honours than waste my time at a club that has almost no chance of winning anything. It’s a harsh reality but that’s the truth. Most managers and former players have clicked on that Ashley wants a patsy. Pardew was happy to do that and the next head coach could be Carver. His got the till the end of the season to prove he has what it takes.

  8. If Carver gets results and does well he can have the job with my blessings. It doesn’t matter we still have Ashley.

I wasn’t having a go at you. I was having a go at those speculating who thr next manager will be.

  10. I mean what owner in his right mind would concentrate more on Ranger’s than his own club. I mean we should come first but we don’t! Surely his not that complacent to think thing’s couldn’t back fire.

  11. I know that Troy. I’m in 100% agreement with you. It’s Ashley I’m mad at but his like a gypsy’s curse that won’t go away mate.

As I’ve said earlier today, I would love to see a Geordie doing well, whether player or coach. That doesn’t mean I only want a Geordie. I want the best man we can possibly get.

If Carver does a decent job, which I think he will, then yes I would give him it. The thing is, we can only achieve mediocrity with this set up. We might have a skirmish with success but it won’t last.

So whether it’s Pards, Garde, De Boer or Carver, I would happily give Carver his chance if he proves himself from now til the end of the season.

  13. Troy, You stated he doesn’t do compo, I proved that he had, what’s poor about that?, you have amended it to since those occasions, relegation and the tribunal to save face, wriggle, wriggle 😉

You really are letting yourself down;-)

Let’s make it easy. He’s done compo once in his early days. He did a lot of things in the early days which he doesn’t do now. He once said he would plough £20m of his own money into the club. He once bought a boat load of expensive players when he first took over and that was for fat Sam as well.
He once set up a singing end and also a fans committee.
He once drank in the stands with the fans and frequented the Bigg Market.

He does none of those things now.

If you are desperate to be right, then you can pursue your point and get me to say, yes he’s paid out compo before.

But I will stick to my point, he doesn’t do compo, meaning here and now, as you well know that’s what was meant.

    You’ve become a right bully. 😉

  15. Kim believe me if Ashley had his way he wouldn’t have paid King Kev nothing. He was forced to pay it by a court of law for breach of contract.

  16. So that’s Fat Sam and his team ,Wise and King Kev then oh what about Lamearse did he go or was he pushed anyone know?and what about JFK did he get owt second time around?

  17. Performances on the field are largely dictated by the quality of the squad. As I’ve often said, put Fergie under the same constraints as Pardew we still wouldn’t meet the fans expectations.

Aussie always finds this funny. But Aussie is a precious shining light. It’s just someone forgot to turn on the light switch.

Fergie achieved domination by earning respect from the players. That’s possible at a club like Man Utd where if a players steps out of line, he is simply shipped out the club and easily replaced. That’s not possible at the toon.

The reason these top managers won’t touch us with a barge pole is because they know their reputations will be ruined.

Carver just needs to continue with the results the club have achieved so far and he should get the job.

      (Quote)

  18. It’s hardly a surprise that Ashley’s reluctant to hire anyone. Allerdyce, Kinnear and Wise very big mistakes. The only one I felt sorry for was poor Chris Hughton.

  19. Kim

Answer me honestly. Do you really believe Ashley will pay up Carvers contract? Or are you going to base your answers on huge gaffs that were made 6 or 7 yrs ago? Have you really not leant anything from my advice. ? 😉

      (Quote)

  20. On 3 February 2014, Kinnear resigned from his position of Director of Football at Newcastle United.

I really don’t believe he got compensation. He might have been slipped a £50 note in his back bottom amd told to clear off. He never even negotiated buying one player. Remy had already been set up.

  21. Troy, I do believe if he wanted shot badly enough he would yeah, it’s peanuts to him. The real issue is whether or not he can get a manager on the cheap and in the case of JC, it’s clearly a possibility .

      (Quote)

  22. Kim

My thoughts about Mikey are, he would not pay anyone anything if he didn’t need to. I’m sure, even if a new coach came in, Carver would be made to sweep up, unless someone came in and paid the compen.

He’s ruthless to people he doesn’t care about. Look at his business methods, Rangers, Keegan, Shearer etc.

      (Quote)

  23. I could see Palace very kindly taking Woodman off our hands at seasons end, Stone was already according to Pardew working more on the development side in the last year or so

The only who maybe a problem will be Carver who’ll be stung when hes relegated to cone carrier again. He may even want to go himself

  24. With all the excitement of the window winding down we can look back on it now. Got rid of the manager and didn’t replace. Got rid of Mbiwa and didn’t replace. Didn’t bring in a decent, experienced striker. Didn’t bring in a decent winger. Now I can see we’re fully concentrated on finishing in the bottom 8. Huzzah!!!!

      (Quote)

  25. If we finish in the bottom 8 but not in the bottom 3 does JC get a bonus? Is it a sliding bonus? 10 quid if we finish 17th, 20 quid for 16th, etc etc.

      (Quote)

  26. G2 There’s still time for Ashley to make another profit in this transfer window. 16 million for Sissoko on the last day ( only a example mate) or hiring Alex McLeish as manager and losing to Hull. What a **** january.

  27. Don’t worry Stem mate, I feel a draw coming up against Hull. Imagine that, another point in January!!!! I’m very excited by the prospect.

  28. G2 a draw doesn’t sound so bad playing away from home. They’ve had 2 weeks off now and should be well rested to take on Hull.

  29. Ashley has spent some money this january. He paid for the team to go to Dhabi as a reward for getting knocked out of the cup.

  39. Even Souness managed to get past the third round of the f.a cup. Seriously can we afford to be so fussy. Troy the great man himself told Souness your ruining our club but he got us to wembly and an uefa cup QF if I remember rightly.
We got stuffed by Sporting lisborn and Manu and finished 14th in the league with more games than Pardew when he finished 16th.

      (Quote)

  40. Amdy Faye hardly ever got a game if my memory serves me correct. He has very bad taste in players that’s now Carr’s department.

I approached them, cos that’s the way I am, haha, and asked who he was. This is gonna be the next toon star was the reply from Del amd Rodney.

I even got my photo took with Amdye Faye.

Cheeses wept! He was ****! It later was suggested that they got their Fayes mixed up and we’re meant to get Abdoula Faye who turned out to be decent.

Only at the toon. And me. 😆
