Transfer Wrap – January 2015

Well here we go again, no new players in and a heap of fringe players out. These transfer windows are no longer a source of potential excitement as we wait for new players to be signed. Actually, they are less like a window and more like an exit door at the moment. Most of the younger players we have loaned out have been no where near the first team this season so if they get first team action at Rangers it can only be a good thing as far as I am concerned. The lack of incoming players has always been a source of frustration and anger and that is set to continue as the season enters it’s later stages. For the record here is what transpired for all clubs.

Well there it is.. One thing that stands out is that clubs seem to be shedding a lot of players to lower division English clubs and abroad. It’s interesting to see Spurs and Liverpool were also clubs not to open the cheque book this window. Maybe the financial fairplay rules are having an effect??

Anyway, it is as you were (minus a few players) for Newcastle and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out. We can only hope that we are not hit with too many injuries over the last stretch of games. We have Abied, Aarons and DeJong on the cusp of being fit enough to get a start in the first team again so there is a sliver of light at the the end of the tunnel.

It’s my understanding the fans would prefer David King. This is a monumental moment in the club’s history and the fans have made it clear, I presume by watching Ashley turn nufc into an advert board for SD, that they would rather take a risk with King.

They have alternatives to Ashley and they should be applauded for their stance and quite rightly be pissed off with Ashley who will turn their club into a soulless business.

I’m pleased you finally answered my original question second time of asking 😉

  2. It will all be better after wins against Stoke and the Gobshite. I will even start referring to Carver as handsome if we can do that.

  3. Always enjoyed the north London derby….big match here

Sorry to lose you Griff. Sad to say a couple of clowns have made this place pretty much unreadable. Hopefully they F off in the near future but I’m not holding my breath

  4. I don’t really know a lot about the Rangers situation (nor do I care that much to be honest) but wasn’t King on the board when Rangers imploded? So I wonder why they want him back.

  5. MDS l love a good match anywhere, pity we are not seeing any up this end at the mo,but can always hope,Sunday game is not a classic and not for the weak hearted on the pitch

  6. BRIS King had big probs in S/Africa over tax (40) mil so everything went tits up,he seems to have sorted it now, that’s as much as I care about Rangers

      (Quote)

  7. Yeah ice I particularly like a match like this: two good teams, rivalry, and I don’t care one way or the other who wins

      (Quote)

  8. Typical businessman then, Ice.

Well, after watching 3 dreary A-league games today it’s a pleasure to see some pace in a game. I like the Arsenal-Spurs derby, even though I don’t particularly like either club. Prefer Arsenal to Spurs, I suppose.

  9. Griff, whoever you are…sorry to see you being hounded out…. another one bites the dust sadly… Stick around mate, you have some good crack.

      (Quote)

  10. Obviously some bloggers look in on here and see the crack and think “what an absolute load of daft ***** being spouted about by the usual knackers on here” and think well….this just isn’t for me. I love the toon and cracking on but the daftness and bullying just isn’t for me…so they go elsewhere…perhaps to the general detriment of the blog at the end of the day…?

Other bloggers look in and think well I have some **** on my chest which I want to get rid of…and put together a structured argument, or valid points of view…or…start hoying daftness and personal abuse about, which obviously only interests the purpetrater, but is obviously disguised under the term of “cracking on”…

I know which form of dialogue I prefer, and wheras it is sometimes difficult I prefer to ignore the abusive **** being thrown around. They all know who they are, but obviously feel they are entitled to that. Perhaps they are in there own minds, but it’s a pity when the community suffers at the hands of the few.

  11. For the good of the blog, I think that the articles should be changed after 3 or 4 days… Perhaps it wouldn’t cost too much time and effort to have a new headline of 5 lines or so, at least to break up this scrolling down to 500 posts at the end of the article…

I’m sure there will also be regular themed articles which in there own right would provoke a more focussed debate ? In the mean time I’m getting fed up scrolling down 700 posts to read about Troy and Bris et al ***** slapping each other :-).

  12. Brisvegas @462, aren’t all A-League games dreary mate ?

How was the Soccerroos success in the Asian Cup met mate ? Did the majority of the punters/man on the street realise that something wonderful had happened or was it met with much of a muchness ? Aussie Rules Football rules at the end of the day, though there is probably room for both in sport mad Australia ?

      (Quote)

  13. MM don’t know about Aussie rules I couldn’t stand it,I am not a rugby guy but when I lived out there and not doing footy I loved to watch rugby lge and could watch it all day them guys knew how to play the game with skill and grace Brisbane Bronks was my team, and yet watching rugby lge here they are not in the same class IMO,they bore my tits off

      (Quote)

  14. Many A-league games are very watchable – not this weekend, though. The Asian cup win was greeted with great acclaim. 75,000 at the game. TV audience figures showed a record for football watching The whole tournament was considered a fantastic success in terms of attendances. There were even Aussie Rules people saying that football will be a big threat to them in 10-20 years time, when the kids get into their 20s.

Aussie rules is only the biggest sport in the southern states, rugby league is bigger in NSW and Queensland. For example, the Western Suburbs Aussie rules team gets fewer people to games than Western Suburbs football team.

Cricket is still the national sport.

      (Quote)

  15. KIM Ime the same as you on those so called sports, but as I said when I was out there Rugby lge might change your mind it was great to watch, but when I came back I watched it twice here what a load of **** and gave up,maybe it was because my brother is a rugby coach out there and took me to his club and showed me the finer points of the game that I could enjoy the games, back here I cannot stand it

      (Quote)

  16. Fantastic atmosphere at this game, puts SJP to shame, two teams going for it, SJP has turned into a bloody morgue under the fatman .

      (Quote)

  17. Spurs does a good job of getting their youth players out on loan. That Mason lad was out on loan 4 seasons in the lower leagues and then steps into the Prem and is ready to play. like to see us do more of that

      (Quote)

  18. MDS yes mate strange we don’t put more out on loan more so with jabba liking to save a quid or two on wages even though it would would only be a little,he likes to penny pinch when it comes to the toon

      (Quote)

  19. Especially since it worked so well for Abeid. I’d love to Roberts and Armstrong head out on loan bect year for a full season

      (Quote)

  20. Not sure why smiles aren’t posting….

Sanchez like all great players is not only extremely talented and athletic, but the man works his socks off for the cause. They clearly miss him today

      (Quote)

  21. Harry Kane is superb for such a young lad. He has similarities to super Al Him and Perez would be good together

      (Quote)

  22. Yes I was just thinking it’s like looking at a young Shearer, real forward, scores all types of goals .

      (Quote)

  23. Now Spurs are the club we should be looking at emulating. All they did was sell a couple of high profile players to finance rebuilding of the squad, got a couple of decent managers in and moved the club forward. But just as importantly they have a Chairman who pushes and pushes his commercial team to bring in as much revenue as possible which allows them to bring in further players.

This is a good question; Why have Sours managed to be challenging for top four every year without being ‘backed by a billionaire’ as we keep hearing

    Why can’t we do it?

      (Quote)

  24. @kim. His goal had shearer written all over it. Do you reckon they’d sell for a decent price?. I don’t. I know they sold Bale but they’re a little different to us, they actually want to build a decent team for the fans and to win things.

Mike just sees the cash not the honours 🙄

      (Quote)

  25. Best bit of transfer window business was Spuds getting Kane to sign on for another 5 years imo. If he carries on like this and stays injury free they will get some massive offers for him just as they did for Bale. Vitally important they get a 4th spot and CL football for next couple of seasons or they may well lose him.

      (Quote)

If only it was that easy under mike. Its all set up to be but he fails to grasp it. Some say it will come in time, I doubt it….

      (Quote)

  27. Don’t like us playing on a Sunday while the rest play on Sat,but at least I can hope to watch the scum get beat.

    KIM very true mate

      (Quote)

  28. I was reading that Kane said he wants to stay at Spuds for the rest of his career, he loves the club . It’s nice to know that England will have another talent in the mould of Al to call on.

      (Quote)

  29. Ice, trouble with sundays is it heaps on more pressure if the teams around you have done well on Saturday. 🙁

      (Quote)

  30. Kim I believe grew up like 10 blocks from their ground is that true?

Sadly he’ll never get to play for England. He’ll be passed over by far lesser players from Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea

      (Quote)

  31. MDS, aye he did mate, hope you’re wrong on his England prospects as it’s yonks since I liked the England teams players but I would enjoy watching him up front.

      (Quote)

  32. MDS, he has 8 in 10 apps for the u21 side and Roy cannot ignore his form, if he does go for players from the so called popular teams he’s a mug.

      (Quote)
