Game On! Newcastle United v Aston Villa

United take on Aston Villa in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
John Carver expects an Aston Villa team with a “new lease of life” to provide a tough test in todays Premier League encounter at St James’ Park.
So another tough test after we were thumped 5-0 by defending champions Manchester City last time out in a game that marked the low point in a run of just one win in their last eight.
A home match against relegation-threatened Villa – who have not won in the league since December 7 – presents a chance for Newcastle to end that dismal streak and repay the fans for last weeks diabolical performance.
Talking ahead of the game JC was quick to point out that “I’ve seen the difference in Villa straight away under Tim,” Carver said. “They are going front to back a bit quicker.”Villa have got a new lease of life, more energy, and it won’t be an easy game for us.”
Jonas Gutierrez is in the senior squad for the first time since recovering from testicular cancer.
And while Jonas could be in line for an emotional return, and give the fans a bit of a boost, United still have a host of injury issues to deal with.
Remy Cabella is a doubt with a knee problem that forced him to miss the drubbing at the Etihad Stadium,( which after revealing that he would miss the game on social media on friday it would seem he isn’t a doubt anymore) while Jack Colback is suspended. Teenage winger Rolando Aarons (hamstring) is still out and is joined on the sidelines by Siem de Jong (lung), Paul Dummett (knee), Robert Elliot (thigh), Steven Taylor (Achilles) and Cheick Tiote (knee).

Newcastle Krul; Janmaat, Coloccini (c), Williamson, Haïdara; Obertan, Sissoko, Abeid, Ameobi; Rivière, Cissé.

Subs Woodman, R.Taylor, Anita, Gouffran, Gutierrez, Armstrong, Perez.

Villa Guzan, Hutton, Okore, Clark, Lowton, Sinclair, Delph, Cleverley, Westwood, Agbonlahor, Benteke.

Subs Given, Bacuna, Weimann, Sanchez, Gil, N’Zogbia, Grealish.

  1. There is one thing here that is not right and that’s the fact he’s been named before it’s even gone to court or he’s been charged. Let’s assume for one second he’s actually innocent and this is a bitter female trying it on then this could wreck his life. As a female I’m trying to come at this from an objective angle, I don’t think it is right that any person male or female should be named until charges are made and it’s going to court .

  2. That doesn’t mean it’s ok to have sex with a 15 year old by the way, but it’s a life wrecking allegation and if false a terrible thing to have to go through in public.

  3. He’s on police bail now, which means they are carrying out further enquiries as they don’t have solid evidence yet, if they did he’d of been charged already. This may well come down to his word against hers unless he has an alibi for the time in question.

  4. Stu – I suppose the law believe that even in drink blokes should be able to think with their heads rather than their *******s 🙄

Your disclaimer letter is a difficult one, and still have loop holes as you say. But what’s your thoughts on a new ‘if there’s grass on the pitch’ law? That should protect those blokes who can’t spot a lying school girl who they’ve been chatting up most the night 🙄

I’ve never suggested Johnson is the next Gary Glitter or will be found at school gates looking for his next victim – but at his age and with his experience, he should have known better. He’s been an idiot and deserves to be punished.

  5. Kim @ 601 I tend to agree with you, I have said before Jonny Evans Granny and other members of the family live in the next street to me and i was friendly with his Dad when he was younger, and I know how much damage it done to the family when Jonny was accused of rape, and in the end he wasn’t even there when it was supposed to happen.

  6. Kim – or Johnson will use his multi millions to hire the best lawyers to get him out of this one.

  7. Dave ,Exactly mate, it destroys lives it really does. I know the guy has a responsibility to behave and what have you. But the fact is the press and general public don’t really know all the facts yet and if charges are dropped at a later date it won’t get the same publicity you can bet that much and as they say mud sticks.

  9. How can this girl prove they had sex? Did she keep some of the semen? Did she tape it? Did they have witnesses? Just how do you prove something like that?

It seems to me that unless she has some hard evidence it’s going to be his word against hers. So all he has to do is say he didn’t do anything and claim she is out to scam him.

And if she does have some evidence then it looks like a scam anyway. Or he’s a stupid guy who thinks with his ****. And, let’s face it, we’ve all done that at some time in our lives.

Who’d be a celebrity, eh? And let’s not forget this is just an allegation. He may well be totally innocent.

  10. Sharpy, yeah luckily I realised Chelsea and Spurs weren’t playing just before I bought my third Chelsea player 😆 Bit fortunate to have Jan and Fabianski reaping in half the team’s points, but there we go. Lucky day I guess.

And with Johnson, there I was saying how lucky they were getting Brown off and now that happens! Serious allegations indeed, I’ll wait until some more of the evidence comes out before commenting on it from the “legal/moral” perspectives. I just hope from the footballing perspective it doesn’t create a nice siege mentality for the mackems. Really want a Hull win to make things interesting at the bottom.

Think it’s unlikely as Leicester and QPR are really struggling, but I would love it if the Mackems, Villa and Everton got taken down 🙂 Villa and QPR will do though!

  11. Newkie – given that we’re now oiut of it, its a no-lose situation. ‘ll be happy if any of Villa (karma for them), Leicester (thuggish place to have to go), Everton (bursting the Martinez myth), Hull (would finally put the Bruce to Newcastle twaddle to bed), or, best of all, the mackems go down. Not fussed over Burnley or QPR, in fact I’d liketo see them stay up, but can’t get too upset.
