EASTER CHICKENS AND NO SIGN OF A RESURRECTION!

EASTER CHICKENS
EASTER CHICKENS

Five in a row t shirts are being sold over in the land of the great unwashed. Oh how they gloat, and who can deny them their 5th moment of glory, or the gift of yet another 6 points to ensure they stave off relegation for yet another season. Yes, 6 points that we could do with right now to stave off our own fears of getting dragged into the relegation mire. It’s inconceivable to me that we can lose yet again, not because we are brilliant, more because Sunderland are awful as their recent league form shows. Even allowing for our team being at the bare bones in players we should have put up a better fight than we did. Only Janmaat and Jonas can come out with their heads held high and the former played the entire game injured (tear in calf)! The fact he played and could possibly have worsened his condition is proof positive that this club is operating at a rank amateur level. Credit to the lad for risking his health on the day but it’s utter madness it really is.
If the likes of Sissoko and Krul are looking for a big move away in the summer they didn’t do their credentials much good yesterday, indeed in the case of Krul, congratulating Defoe in the tunnel all smiles to boot over his wonder goal, you’d have to question his team player skills. There is a time and place to high five an opposition player and it isn’t half time in the tunnel in view of the cameras. As for Sissoko, he was anonymous as were most of them to be fair.
For all Carvers rhetoric in the build up to the match, in the end everything from the team selection down to tactics and game plan (or lack of) was a damp squib. That Sunderland only got the one goal first half was the biggest shock for me. How you can have Defoe, Wickham and Fletcher up top and still only win from a wonder strike is quite shocking and says more about them than us. Like Newcastle, they may survive, just.
So around about the mid way mark I started to ask myself, what’s the point? We start out at the beginning of the season knowing full well we won’t win the league, won’t win a cup, won’t make Europe and will be lucky to make top ten. That’s assuming our owner hasn’t sold our best player/players by then and replaced with cheap and cheerful or worse not replaced at all. Well there is always the Derby, our own little cup final, except there isn’t even that anymore is there? When is the last time we sent out a team who were really up for it on the day? Forget the fact they change their manager for every Derby, they just seem to take it more seriously than our lot do. If they played with that passion every game they wouldn’t need 6 points a season from us to avoid the drop.
So if we can’t obtain Europe, cups or titles and now the Derby is seemingly off limits, what’s the point? Surely the point of any sport is to start the campaign with the aim of winning something, isn’t it?
We need an injection of enthusiasm from our owner, a renewed sense of pride and if he cannot bring himself to see the damage he has done not just to the club and it’s fan base but to a city too, then frankly he needs to go and the sooner the better for me. To be honest, the way I feel at this moment, this club feels like it’s going to hell in a hand cart.
The club has been likened to a Zombie club in recent days by pundits and rightly so. It’s the perfect analogy, but unlike the living dead the chances of this great club being resurrected to what it was to the fans is getting smaller by the day.

  1. Absolutely love Betsys quote;

Pardew is out of his depth as a premier league manager.
    😀

    Doh! 😀

  2. Many Inc Betsy predicted Pards would take Palace down this season! 😆

    Doh! 😆

      (Quote)

  3. CC, 35 points shouldn’t really pose any pressure on our lads, yet it seems it does. Either that or they have given up because other than survival there’s nowt to play for now the derby game is gone.

      (Quote)

  4. Pards left us when in 8th position. Palace were bottom 3.

Wow! We are now 13th and Palace have leapt well over us. 😆

    YCMIU 😛

  5. 😯 We have 5 of our last 7 at home and our two away matches are against the bottom two ( who are fighting to their credit)

If we don’t scrape 40 points they should be ashamed imp

      (Quote)

  6. CC, yes I said that the other day, and Leicester play 5 of the bottom 8 teams and have a game in hand.

      (Quote)

  7. Yes I was looking at the fixtures and had Leicester staying up, Really nice run in and some momentum behind them

  8. It’s a real pity that we only had a skeleton squad fraught with injuries to choose from against the makkems. Look what Palace did to them, imagine what we would have done to them with a full strength team out… 🙄

      (Quote)

  9. Why Ashley never invested in a descent forward and a centre back has completely ruined our season. You can add manager to that list as well. I hope the fan’s boycott because Ashley’s a total disgrace to the club.

      (Quote)

  10. Stem@240, agreed 100%, if the fans can’t boycott after the last 6 months of drudgery then there really is no hope for them.

At least Troy and Stuart79 have seen the light and hoyed there season tickets in…..that’s two more boycotters…

      (Quote)

  11. I’m starting to wonder just how much worse it has to get for most of that 50,000 to turn their back on the club. When you look at Blackpool sinking away due to the owners greed, their fans are saying the club is a empty shell and lost it’s soul, sound familiar?

  12. Kim

Premier league survival next season is a decent season for a club the size of Palace.

Pards is more than capable of doing that.

      (Quote)

  13. Kimtoon, Ashley has increased the size of the Junior Magpies area, and dropped the prices for tickets. That influx will more than make up for the older punters who have had enough and hoyed in there season tickets….. the next generation of lambs to the slaughter..

Was just chatting to my bro a few days ago, and he told me of around 15 of his good friends and neighbours, only 2 of them still have there season tickets, the rest of them chucked it. Factor in this across the north east and I reckon there are loads of punters who have given up… 600 quids a year to get the mickey taken out of you is a bit much…..

  14. Troy, I said earlier on he has a good set of players, his type of players, unlike what he had here, it was obvious he couldn’t work with a certain type of player for what ever reason and I’m sure there were players he wanted that he didn’t get. I still think he’s a gobshite who played excuse bingo at times. 😀

  15. MM, you’re not wrong mate, there was a time I wished I lived in the NE and had a ST, not anymore. 🙁

  16. how has carver turned into such a brown nose, before he came back he was in the papers slating jabba.look at moncur fkin legend pedro legend all bending owa. 🙄

      (Quote)

  17. Some people make statements which make me think they don’t give much thought to what they are saying. For example, Hitman makes a statement without explaining what Carver should actually say publicly.

      (Quote)

  18. Hitman@252, You will see a lot of ex pros talking up the club now to keep the fans on side. It’s no coincidence that all this is coming out since the boycott and Derby drubbing .

      (Quote)

  19. exactly kim,all we here from carver is that hes 1 of us a proper fan, total bs hes init for him self (and if he dosnt know by now hes out of his depth we are fooked ),i could understand if he was short of a few quid and needed the job but he dosnt.

      (Quote)

  20. Hitman , I don’t doubt he loves the club, and Troy makes a fair point about him not being able to say what he really thinks, but like with Pards before him they should just say nowt imo.

      (Quote)

  21. Our team would look better if Gouffran is not on the team and if we play around Colback and Abeid in midfield. Squad would look better if we get rid of Gouffran Anita Obertan and Riviere first of all, and would look better if de Jong fit. And then, Krul Cissé Sissoko and Tioté would be losses, but we can replace them in my opinion. Our squad would look better if we build around mainly Janmaat Colback Ayoze Abeid de Jong Dummett Aarons Armstrong Coloccini Jonas Ameobi, bring Austin Djilobodji, Ben Pringle and Phillips from QPR and recall Vuckic

      (Quote)

  22. how many people have walked off a job because they wernt happy with the working conditions.at the end of the day carver is doing he job.

      (Quote)

  23. So Hitman fails to explain what Carver should say publicly. He’s the manager of NUFC and he has the press asking questions constantly. He has to build confidence in his squad. He has to be positive as a manager.

So Hitman tell us what he should say. Kim I can’t accept that he should say nothing. That is as good as saying the situation is ****.

For the reasons above, he has to remain positive to the public.

I expect Hitman not to answer as he doesn’t look too deeply into things I’ve noticed.

      (Quote)

  24. Munich – Regarding the tickets going to kids ect… That just shows how important full grounds are to Ashley. This makes the boycott more pertinent. I remember Lambias saying once in an interview that Ashley puts him under huge pressure to “just fill the ground.” The boycott is the perfect way forward.

      (Quote)

  25. ffs how many times do you have to tell someone your not interested in engaging in convos with them…
the reason the blogs on its **** is through gobshites like him,he should of had his wings clipped a long time ago by the powers that be, but ya let it run riot, but i understand you need comments.shame it was a good blog..

  26. Oh dear. Not much thought went into that post as well.

    Predictable though. 🙄

Hitman you bring so much to this blog. 😛

  27. “We’re trying to fill the stadium at a price we can afford. We can’t have it half-full, because we’d lose that spirit.”

      (Quote)

  28. Stuart@264, now really is the time to boycott and show Ashley and the media hangers on that the toon fans really do have something about them. This would also be a pop at the WHOLE club, including JC, Peter Beardsley, Charnley, Moncur and the rest of the yes-men…
The season is over. We have a decimated rag tag bunch of players not interested and going through the motions…we have an owner not interested and just going through the motions.. we have no goals in the team, and at least 5 players statrting who the club themselves wanted rid of a few years back…
If a boycott fails to materialise on the backdrop of an absolute low in the toon proceedings, then really it never will..
You really have to wonder about the mental stability of people paying so much money to watch the dross being played out on and off the pitch…

      (Quote)

  29. Stuart79 268 I couldn’t agree more. I can’t understand why people wouldn’t want to boycott. Ashley has spent none of the profits on players in 4 years! The account’s haven’t been released yet! Carver’s not getting points on the board! The players look out of their depth! We are absolutely useless at the moment.

      (Quote)

  30. So Carver should not take the job or now that he has should walk away. 🙄

I take it whoever comes in will get the same advice.

The thought process of some individuals mirrors a goldfish. 🙄

    YCMIU 😳

      (Quote)

  31. It’s utter tosh, Troy. Whoever gets the job will have the same issues; Player recruitment will be based on value not squad requirements, no experienced players bought, players bought only using the club as a stepping stone so no dedication from the players only looking at their next move, told to treat the cups as practice matches and the best players being sold.

Put down in words, how can anybody do a good job under them circumstances?

      (Quote)

  32. Give Carver the job, he’s ideal. This is what we should be gearing up for, Carver in place in the Summer, Jonas Gutierrez, Ryan Taylor and Sammy Ameobi all axed as out-of-contract. Sissoko, Cisse, Tiote, Krul leaving and being replaced with u21 frenchies.

Mike and his “prudent” ways are catching up with him. he has to spend at least 50mil + the money generated from sales.

I’m looking forward to the abuse he’ll get that will hopefully pave way for his exit.

I still reckon he’s looking to sell asap…

      (Quote)

  33. Stuart

It appears to some that Carver should just turn to the fans publicly that the club is ****. The owner won’t invest and the fans should boycott. Or just walk.

Well if he told the truth he would be walking anyway.

I don’t blame Carver for taking the job and coming out with same rhetoric that every manager at every football club does. That’s part of being a manager at a top club. It’s part of your role to send out positive messages and paper over the cracks. There’s only 20 premier league managerial positions and millions would love to jump in their shoes.

But some would suggest he should just give his chance up. Well, those same people criticised Pardew for the exact same things and Pardew stuck it out. His stock as a premier league manager has risen dramatically by doing so and earned himself a new contract at a club that now appreciates him.

      (Quote)

  34. The boycott won’t work! Why? Because too many people will say they will fight back against the regime because they hate everything it stands for and then secretly they slink off to the games with their season tickets in hand! Trust me, it happens, I’ve seen it! 😯

      (Quote)

  35. Even an unskilled player can be motivated to put in a good effort.. Carver can’t even get that part right!! 😕

      (Quote)

  36. Prem

I think I’ve been saying it a bit longer than that. Betsy has been criticising Pards for 3 yrs and saying he was out of his depth as a premier league manager back then.

He was still saying it after Pards had been a premier league manager for 4 yrs. He refuses to answer whether he still thinks he is out of his depth. He just ignores me now.

    I wonder why. Haha. 😛

      (Quote)

  37. Good to see Huffstar predicting a boycott won’t work. I always thought he criticised others for making predictions.
    😯

Or is that another sly dig at Stuart implying he still goes to the games but tells others differently.

At least you’ve got Huffstar frightened of you now Stuart. He frightened to be direct with you. 😆

Do you think there will be a boycott at all?
Like the walk out last season! 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  40. Also. I think Pardew will go on one of his famous death spirals and get Palace relegated next year or definately the year after. His honeymoon will soon be over.

      (Quote)

  41. @Aussie..

youre right mate, a boycott will not happen, if it does it will be like the Pards Out, where only a couple of thousand join in.

but… its only the start. next season will see a drop in ticket sales followed by more protests

      (Quote)

  42. Troy says…. Or is that another sly dig at Stuart implying he still goes to the games but tells others differently.

No it’s just you being over protective of your BFF! 😆

  43. Mark, maybe mate, I reckon if we get a new coach next season and the football is on the improve, we won’t see any protests… 😕

Or someone finally snaps and takes him out sniper style 😉

“It appears to some that Carver should just turn to the fans and publicly state that the club is sh*t”.

Here are a couple of confidence building quotes from Carver

20 March 2015 “A significant number of players will leave in the summer. It’s pretty obvious to the man in the street and to the professionals , it has to be done, there are people out of contract, there are people who are not good enough
    .
5 April 2015 “The back four is a makeshift back four and they deserve a bit of credit but the other units of the team weren’t good enough.”

Troy, do you not think that Carver is basically saying publicly that most of his squad is sh*t ?.

    Great motivation for the players.

  46. if i lived back on the tyne i wouldn’t boycott the spurs game. the reason being that i would have given up going to the games yonks ago in protest at the way the club was being run. having said that if possible i would go to a few away games cos the crack always was better, but ashley also has his mitts into that with his 25 quid registration fee….another petty but shocking case of abusing your customer base… but as a sports fan the bugbear for me has been the dross football turned out by us for the last 4-5 years, it just isn’t fun to watch and is devoid of excitement…the fact that the atmosphre at sjp has tailed off over the last few years is testament to this, and has nowt to do with overzealous and underpaid stewards at the ground. throw in the ashley factor, pardews behaviour, players not trying, poor investment, and a trip to the metro centre on a saturday afternoon maybe is a more attractive proposition to watching the toon :-). regarding my post @246, I reckon that those punters who have hoyed in the season tickets are now lost forever and wouldn’t renew unless there was a massive turnaround and change of mentality at the way the club was being run. those numbers won’t be replaced by junior magpies coming through the ranks….or will they ? I suppose the dads are to blame wanting to pass on the geordie folkelore to the bairns ?!

      (Quote)

  47. Troy – I’m not sure why Aussie would have a dig at me for going to the games while telling everyone else not to as I haven’t been to a game since Burnley at home I think. Been that long I can’t remember.

Personally I think there will be less than 45,000 there and that will be a start. Next season I believe we could be seeing 40,000 as people will not renew their season tickets and others will find something better to do on match day so won’t buy tickets for individual matches. That will be caused by natural apathy

      (Quote)

  48. stuart79 i don’t think amf is having a pop at you for going to the matches, i mean it took you a while but you are also now boycotting games despite having a season ticket. i suppose his loyalty would never be tested as such as he lives at the other end of the world like.

      (Quote)

  49. Eminem, all I give a **** about at the end of the day is the football being played.. none of the Ashley drama would mean nowt if the football was half decent.. I would still go to the games hoping for a good one! Optimistic, I know, but what’s the point of being a supporter if you can’t get behind the team and hope for a win?

      (Quote)

  50. It’s because of Ashley that the results are ***** so that in turn creates ‘Ashley drama’

I honestly don’t know how you show your name round here again. 😆

The only time I’ve ever took exception to anyone ever, was my brother. That was because other things were being said away from the blog.

You have been in huff after huff. I even christened you the hissy fit kid years ago. 😆

The best bit was when you announced you wouldn’t be round here much and you’ve itched to be back on. You expected the blog to collapse. Big Dave and a few others kept it going and have done a great job. You’ve had to crawl back on your hands and knees begging for forgiveness. 😛

If you were living back in the toon, then most probably you wouldn’t boycott the Spurs game ?….support the team, not the regime as such….?

Speaking from the safety of my exile in Minga, I can confidently say I would be a boycotter…..until Ashley and the rest of the yes men running the club made watching Newcastle United a more attractive proposition than an afternoon at the Metro Centre… p.s. I also had a season ticket before I left the toon…

  54. Seems people are forgotting about Pards problems with other clubs; He left West ham in the bottom three after their worst run in 70 years, Charlton were relegated under him & were in line to drop out of the championship before finally bowing to their supporters, Southampton got rid of him because they didnt win enough matches despite having a premier league budget & players in league 1

Its not Kenny, KK, Bobby, Gullit, Ossie etc. whose career was one success after another before our jinx kicked in, Its an ish player turned manager who had flitted between the divisions and left every club under a cloud

Lets see how its panned out in 18 months-2 years time

    No **** Sherlock 🙄
If the football was half decent and we were reaching our potential within our resources, of course there wouldn’t be any drama at all. There would be no Ashley drama.

It’s because Ashley has been in charge since 2007 and we’ve had one season of reaching our potential is the reason why there is an Ashley drama.
