Game On! Leicester Vs Newcastle United

Leicester_City_v_Newcastle_United_Match_Preview_FTWelcome one and all to this ‘Game On’ article which will take us through the highs and lows as we travel to the King Power Stadium for today’s Premier league game (12.45 kick-off), to face the in-form Leicester City in what head coach John Carver has dubbed “the biggest game of the weekend.” Leicester have won four of their last five games only failing to the the Premier League Champions elect Chelsea on Wednesday night after taking the lead at the King Power Stadium and having a go at them but eventually suffering a 3-1 defeat.
John Carver and first team coach Steve Stone were in the stands for that game, watching Leicester in action, and were impressed by what they saw.
“If I’m perfectly honest out of the next four games, I think this is going to be one of the toughest,” said Carver.
“Me and Steve Stone travelled down to watch them against Chelsea and the atmosphere was incredible, so we’ll have to deal with that.
“Leicester were very well organised, very strong and a big physical side but they did run out of steam a little bit.
“We have to make sure we stay in the game. They’re very tight and they work extremely hard. They’ll put us under pressure and not give us a minute on the ball.
“But because of their work rate they tire, and we must use that to our advantage.”
Following their recent haul of 12 points, Leicester have climbed out of the relegation zone and currently sit just three points behind the Magpies going into Saturday’s fixture.
“Nigel (Pearson) has done a remarkable job,” Carver added, about his opposite number.
“Four weeks ago his team weren’t even in the hunt to stay in this league but he has turned that around.
“This is certainly the biggest game of the weekend – it’s huge for both sides for different reasons. The important thing is we need to get a result because we all know what run we are in at the moment and that needs to end.”
I just hope we stop the rot and stop breaking records.

  1. Absolutely brilliant on BT Sport. Owen, McManaman and Savage absolutely steaming into the players after todays performance.. Brilliant that they are showing more passion than our players. Michael Owen is livid ! …they really do care after all 😆 😆 😆

  2. Nigel Pearson has basically said that its wrong to push Carver out in front of the cameras to justify what the regime have done

  3. carver most b sacked..we can’t head the ball so he keeps playing the 2 centre backs..and then puts 2 midgets in midfield to combat lack of height..and keeps playing same players who are total..play younger players long time ago and know too late..we had young centre half who can head the ball but when players are fit he is worse then pardew bringing them back on the bench who offer jack sh..t

  4. That would be shocking if we weren’t already used to the constant downgrading and self destruction visited upon us by the owner.

No one can say “get out of our club”. It is his club until we drive him out and literally make it our club, on paper. Cutting that cancer out of the club is the first step, but fan ownership has to be the ultimate goal. Nobody cares about the team like the fans. Until we literally make it ours, we suffer. Portsmouth did it. So can we.

  5. Owen needs to shut up, he was a utter waste of money for us and only joined us cause Pool wouldn’t buy him back.

  6. Nigel Pearson was trying his best not to say Ashley is a ***** and ruining the football club.

Those hoping for relegation stand by your beds… but be sure to burn your season tickets at the alter of the spondoolick first… 😆 😆

Ashley believes in continuity…. for good or bad…. what a great boss to work for, Pardew tried his best but he just couldn’t get bladdered so he jumped ship… Now it is JC and Charnley’s turn… 😆 😆

  19. Villa can win, that’s ok coz its 4th bottom were playing for. It’s the Scum, QPR and Burnley results we need to be watching.

QPR go 1 nil down as I type that.

  20. Ashley should be utterly ashamed to have us in this predicament. I doubt he gives a fu** tho. Probably drawing up plans to get his Ads prime viewing for our crunch game v WBrom

  21. Hello, is anybody still in at SJP? Do you know we’re in the ****?

We need a new manager for the game against WBA.

  22. Sharpster@251, that was me being tongue in cheek mate, but I suppose a good old relegation battle does keep the interest going.

We all remember a few years ago when we went to QPR and won to safeguard our survival, and the Portugese defender shot himself in the foot twice… Can we rely on QPR to get us out of jail again ? ….. hmmmm

      (Quote)

  23. get in Ston 😆

end of the day, our fate is in our own hands, we just need to beat WBrom or Wham 😯

  24. It all started to go wrong when we left Demba Ba in the middle and moved Cisse out wide… 😆 😆

  25. QPR are not important as they are goners. its everyone else down there t hat needs to win..if they can do that and we lose all ours.. then if we are lucky we can get relegated.

  26. Munich – I’m pleased you find it interesting – I find it nauseating personally.

  27. Oh man this really is fantastic entertainment 🙂
Don’t we just love the EPL 🙂

“Southampton an equaliser! Southampton lob a speculative ball into the box and Coates collides with Pantilimon as he tries to catch it. The keeper spills the ball and Mane gleefully turns the ball into the empty net. Shocking mix-up at the back!”…………….

  28. The commentator kept saying Carver had picked his strongest eleven. Surely he didn’t – he picked his oldest. I said a few years ago, as others did too, that we lacked movement. We were constantly out ran by the opposition and today Leicester when three up were running trying to score as though they were losing and we were walking as though we were winning. Surely there must be a reserve CH who must be at least no worse than Williamson. I must also say that I have never been impressed with Sissoko but he seems undroppable. Finally, it is clear that Carver is not one to encourage younger players.

      (Quote)

  29. BB – Apparently he’s intimated that Williamson might have got himself sent off on purpose so he doesn’t have to be in a relegation scrap.

      (Quote)

  30. Groucho – he picked the slowest 11. He picked the least creative 11. He selected 2 players who are that good, they won’t be offered new contracts (Raylor & Jonas). He surrendered the game before we kicked off, and will get away with it in the media thanks to Willo & Jamaat getting sent off.

I haven’t mentioned it yet, but Willos 2nd yellow – that is one of the most cowardly & dangerous challenges I’ve seen in a long time. Likely born out of frustration, but he could have seriously injured the lad, and had plenty of time to pull out of it.

      (Quote)

  31. BB Accuses player of getting himself sent off deliberately.. BBC team disgusted at him getting at players publicly. Not certain if he meant Williamson or Jaanmat.

      (Quote)

  32. it certainly looked like a deliberate foul. I can believe JC if it was Willo or Janmatt

      (Quote)

  33. Sharpy Williamson should have got a straight red and Dummet deserved a second yellow. Ref was kind.

      (Quote)

  34. Carver needs to walk away now, these players are not with him and know he hasn’t got a clue,we have to rely on other clubs to lose, imo these players will not get another point

      (Quote)

  35. Not worth even commenting on really. A shambles doesn’t begin to describe it. Step down immediately Carver. I think it’s too late to stop the rot the season but Carver has to go. Only other clubs’ performances can save us now.

      (Quote)

  36. Thanks guys
what a complete and utter mess the club is in now

      (Quote)

  37. Spot on Groucho @288. They could easily have had 6. What kind of clown is Riviere anyway? What kind of tackle was that in our box? He must be mental like Willo and today Janmaat.
