An open letter to our players

John and liamTime for the players to man up and remember what real sacrifice is. An open letter to our players.
So today it’s confirmed John Carver remains your coach, like it or not that is your reality, as it is ours. Whether you like him or not, his love for our club cannot be denied but fans are questioning whether your commitment is as strong. Too many of you surrendered over the last few games and let the club you represent and the fans and city down. It matters not if you dislike your boss or his methods, quite simply you are paid well to perform for 90 plus minutes, it’s not much to ask. Doubtless many of you fancy a transfer to a ‘ bigger’ club some day in the future, maybe it’s even been promised? Well you best ask yourselves this. Have I shown I have what it takes?, do I possess team spirit?, am I a team player? have I given my all? If you can’t say yes to all of that, then take a long hard look in the mirror and think about two lads that really did have passion and gave their all for the club. All season we have been remembering Liam Sweeney and John Alder at the 17th minute of every game, these lads lived and died for the club. They chose to travel thousands of miles every season to follow the club and support players like you. This pre-season they paid the ultimate price when the plane they took to go watch you play was shot down on route. How dreadfully sad it will be if a season that started so incredibly traumatically ends in relegation for want of a bit of fight and endeavour. Put simply, if you cannot give your all and fight for the fifty odd thousand fans that turn up at St James Park then do it for Liam and John out of respect for all the support they gave to you.

Yours Kimtoon

  1. Ice – I know what you mean mate, my worry is that as good as he appears to be, he also appears to be made of glass. If he’s going to get injured again I’d rather it be contributing to a PL win to keep us up, rather than a nothing U21 game. I would defo be making sure that Satka is playing on Saturday too!!.

    ————— Krul —————
    Jonas – Colo – Satka – Raylor
    ————- Abied ————-
    — Sissoko —— Colback —
    ———— De Jong ————
    —— Perez ——- Aarons ——

It’s probably too early for Aarons, so stick Armaz in there and go for it.

  2. What drama! Solano’s Trumpet win the league in the dying seconds with a 1 point win on the final day. Well done, lad. You played well. Tough on Stripes, though, who led the competition for most of the season.

    The final 8 positions were:

    1 Solano’s Trumpet 78 (2003)
    2 Stripes and no stars 78 (1916)
    3 Haven’t Got a Kalou 67
    4 Newbriscastle Roar 61
    5 Newkie’s Ale Stars 60
    6 Inter Yasista 60
    7 WHY SO SERIOUS ? 59
    8 Niknak Utd 56

Tough luck on Newclear Attack who fell one short on 55 points. Also tough on Joshua, who spent most of the season in the top 8 and dropped out only in the last half dozen games. They ended up with the 4th highest game points tally but came 10th. Just shows the unexpected nature of the h2h competition. Had the top 8 been awarded simply on game points then it would have been a different league table and would have included Mugs11, who actually came 15th.

Many thanks to all who played and made it a competitive game. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

    I haven’t been officially informed but the next round is the league cup quarter finals, and I think the draw is 1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6, 4 v 5. I’ll let you know if not.

    Let the battle continue. 😆

By the way, your article was very poignant. Great point. 😉

  4. Stem – I hate to break it to you, but there’s not a great deal of choice for our defence mate 😆
The alternative is Anita at full back – not much better, or Colback – but I think he’s better used in midfield personally. Who else after that?

  5. And while on Fantasy Leagues, my side won its A-league fantasy league for the 2nd year in a row.

Heh heh. The season hasn’t been a complete shambles, then.

  6. After 24 hours I still find it incredible for Carver to be in charge for our last three games.
Watching Steve Bruce being interviewed after the 3 – 1 home defeat by Arsenal he was so upbeat you would not believe his club are in the relegation battle. I think he is very certain that simply getting 1 point from their home game against Burnley will keep them up.
We can only hope that Sunderland lose all four of their remaining games.

I stick by my stance on sacking Pards if we had got beat off Leceister a year or so ago. There comes a crucial time in a season where drastic action has to be taken. That time is when running out of games. A change of manager can inspire a team temporarily. Fortunately, I was one of the few who had stuck by Pardew and still saw another game in him.

Pleased we won and the rest is history. He had us in 8th before he left this season and it’s no wonder he left when you have fans like Psychs and Betsy abusing him.

I thank you for your time. Carry on what you were doing. 😉

  9. The worrying thing is, I see fight and spirit and goals in all the teams below us. The players have to get their lips up off the floor, stop the big sulk because quite simply it’s up to them now. They cannot say they have been let down by the fans support. Look at Sunderland fans walking out en mass more than once this season when they were getting thrashed, yet that team is playing out their skins. Toon fans stick it out to the bitter end no matter what and where does it get us? It’s a bit bloody rich if the players are laying this poor form at our door. As for the protest I don’t believe it would effect them, they know it’s the owner not them that irks us. Trouble is the displays and heart have been so stinking last few games they are now getting stick. They can have no complaints,if they are honest in their hearts they know they haven’t done anywhere near enough.

  11. How was I abusing Pards Troysta? I mainly stated his record and that he is an arrogant gobshite. I can’t see how anyone can disagree with that. I have done the same to Carver saying he is ugly and useless. I haven’t veered from my initial views no matter how many times you have called me clueless. I may have been wrong about the timing on your about face on Carver. It may have been 2 weeks ago rather than last week. It doesn’t make that much difference though it was still a climbdown from the blogger who never thinks he is wrong about anything and keeps bringing up Pards 4 months after he left.

Lost 3 in a row now has Pards. Man U will be looking to arrest their latest downturn so it may be 4 come the weekend 🙂 Told you he goes on these runs – good and bad, he is the ultimate streaky (lucky) manager.

  12. Game against Leicester when Troy said he would give up on Pards if we lost: October 18, 2104. Not, about a year ago as Troysta says. Would you trust this man to be truthful about the timing of his about face on Carver?

  13. I have to get behind Carver now no matter what his limitations. We are stuck with him for now. I think relegation would be a disaster and at least if we stay up we might attract a decent manager, even if it is with a pack of lies. Ashley might also decide he has had enough with the pencil pusher as MD and actually hire someone who knows something about football…I can dream.

The Mail says Carver offered his resignation and it was declined. Was it a full resignation from the club or just as interim head coach? My guess (and only a guess) is it was from his present position and he still was expecting to be kept on as 2nd in command. He backed Charnley into a corner. What was his option though after McClaren – Beardsley (his reserve team record is as bad as the first teams)?

  15. Eric – You are pissing into the wind with your hopes there I am afraid.

As for the Serbian striker, think we can keep dreaming about that…

  16. Seems expensive for a kid that plays in the equivalent of the CCC or lower. I don’t believe a word of it until they are paraded in the black and white stripes . I reckon we will survive by the skin of our teeth, but by Christ do we need to make a huge amount of changes if we want to ever be respectable again…

  17. Shamrock – he could be our new Gomis, in that we are linked with him every season but he never actually arrivals.
If we are to believe the papers he is also Swanseas no.1 target – and with the Bony money they could certainly afford him.
I hope these are the type of player we are looking at, but they aren’t the English players we are so desperately missing.

  22. Just read this from an Albion fan.

Any Newcastle fans on here, seriously don’t worry about the weekend. As an albion fan all my life, i would put my house on us losing. It’s what we do, take points from the rich (united, liverpool etc) and give it to the poor (villa, qpr, leicester). Whenever were expected to win (previously mentioned games v qpr leicester villa) we lose. expect us to lose and we’ll go to inform palace and do them 2-0
go to old trafford do em 1-0

  23. I reckon we have hit our lowest point. Everybody has written us off and we have no players left. Carved is useless and will be replaced, however I am hoping his passion will have come across on the training field, apologies will have been made and we will see the team go for broke come our next game. No point in trying to defend, just go he’ll for leather and get the fans in full song. There is a time for boycott, our final games are not the time, not when we are trying to rally the team around to survive. I don’t see how being relegated would be a good thing for us.

  33. Big D @177: the usual from the papers contradicting each other then. I don’t know what to believe there. I do believe that Carvs and the rest tearing into the players at half time happened. I am not sure if such a useless **** screaming at me would have geed me up and I do think it contributed to winding up Riviere (penalty) and Williamson and Janmaat (sendings off). A bit more man-management that back-fired. As I said, we are stuck with Carver but I still don’t think he has a clue.

I love the way he says that he can’t head the ball from corners for the players when the pinnacle of his playing career was Whitley Bay and Gateshead. Even Williamson’s natural level is higher than that 🙂
