When the sides met earlier in the season, we came away with a 2-0 victory from the Hawthorns.
Ayoze Perez’s brilliant flick on the stroke of half-time broke the deadlock before a Fabricio Coloccini header sealed all three points for the United.
Speaking ahead of the game John Carver said “West Brom are a very organised side under Tony (Pulis) and they are a huge threat from set plays,” said Carver.
“Manchester United found it very difficult to break them down but we are the home team and we need to win the game.
“It’s going to be very tight. I can’t see there being too many goals looking at our record and at theirs, but we are determined to find a way to win on Saturday.
“We have had a bad run of games but I’ve seen enough from the lads that they want to be productive and they want to do something about it.”
Despite the other teams at the foot of the table picking up points from their recent fixtures, Carver insists he remains focused on Newcastle’s games and no-one else’s.
“I’m not worried about anyone else’s results. We are in the position where we can affect what happens,” he continued.
“It’s in our hands – we are not one of the teams in the bottom three. We can’t afford to worry about what everyone else is doing.
“I don’t think about what the teams are doing below us because I can’t affect that in any way.
“I’m going to focus all my effort and all my concentration on what I can do at this football club, and the earlier we can get results the better – starting with this weekend.”
TEAM NEWS
Newcastle – Daryl Janmaat serves a one-game suspension for his red card at Leicester last weekend, while fellow defender Mike Williamson starts a two-match ban having received a red card in the same game. United are hopeful of having Paul Dummett available following a hamstring strain, while winger Rolando Aarons could make his first appearance in six months following a series of hamstring complaints. Leading scorer Papiss Cisse is available for selection having completed a seven-game suspension but Siem de Jong (thigh) and Adam Armstrong (calf) are doubts. Massadio Haidara (knee), Cheick Tiote (knee), Rob Elliot (thigh) and Steven Taylor (Achilles) remain sidelined
West Brom – Midfielder James Morrison is expected to face a late fitness test on a knock, while first-choice goalkeeper Ben Foster is the Baggies’ only definite absentee, sidelined with a long-term knee injury.

have these docile knackers thought about playing a dead ball short ? They have 6 players 12 foot tall and put the ball high into the box ?
Munich Mag(Quote)
biggest plus so far for me was that the heads didn’t drop when they scored
Big Dave(Quote)
I really hope Carver will be brave and give Aarons and Cisse a proper chance to get the points
Big Dave(Quote)
Would Carver take a calculated risk by subbing on cisse for 2nd half? 😳 😳
AngelOfDeath(Quote)
Dave totally agree mate@153
kimtoon(Quote)
AOD @ 154 I think he should I pray he does and tries to go and win the game
Big Dave(Quote)
Stuart79@136, I reckon Santone and Mbiwa’s hearts weren’t in it and the owner got the dollar signs in his eyes… honest John Carver gave them the final push…
Munich Mag(Quote)
So as I predicted, lots of effort but just not much quality.
Stuart79(Quote)
Just watched the Villa West Ham highlights…how did the ref not award a pen for West Ham ? There have been some terrible refereeing decisions today…
Munich Mag(Quote)
Cabella has been lively but with no real threat so I would sub him for Aarons, and take Rivi off for Cisse.
I just fear that if JC plans on getting to the 70 mins or so mark to make a change we will be chasing the game by then
Big Dave(Quote)
so no changes then ?
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
Big D… honest John is probably scared of losing both Cisse and Aarons for the season… we could question whether they are both really fit and are on the bench out of desperation ?
Munich Mag(Quote)
Can’t hear the crowd very much
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
