So it’s claret and Blue and Deja vu

westhamSo there you are, yet again we contrive to shoot ourselves in the foot. Having gone 1.0 up and taking a tiny bit of control we take our foot off the break and let a very poor QPR over the threshold then compound it by conceding a second and winner of the game. If it was a miracle that Riviere scored after what’s felt like a lifetime then it’s an even bigger one that such a poor QPR side could come out second half and dominate us when we were cruising. When oh when will our players realise they have to fight tooth and nail to stay in this league? We can count ourselves lucky Hull lost today because we still get a second chance to survive against West Ham next week. Had they won I think we’d be all but down already. Not one player for Newcastle can say they played their heart out today and that’s the scary part. Frankly I don’t think they care anymore either, which begs the question why the hell should we?

Our goal difference is terrible and I’m not sure even a point will be enough next week. Once again we are praying Hull slip up next week and Sunderlands form drops. It will be Sunderland, Newcastle and Hull scrapping it out on the last day just like the season we went down. That season was claret &blue opposition on the final day and Hull finished above us and you just know history is gonna repeat it’self.

  1. do have an idea but i few here might think its crazy try playing sissiko up front

  2. as a plan b if all else fails and before any1 says it i know its high risk

  3. I wouldn’t have that tossed anywhere near the team. He’s gone missing since January and although that is his fault, he’s had no leadership and he will have been told when he signed that he will be sold to a bigger and better club when an offer comes. That hasn’t happened and now he’s sulking. **** him! Anita or Abeid would do a better job.

Talking of Anita. He had a really good game against WBA and the. He gets dropped but Taylor keeps his place and I can’t remember him passing to a team mate for the last month. He’s also ****** physically and that’s no good…

      (Quote)

  4. abedi is only 5 foot 11 and anitas only about 5 foot 5 so you could not try it with them

      (Quote)

  5. but they need to try something different just seem to be trying the same things in training that aint working on the field

      (Quote)

  6. I wouldn’t play any of them up front! I’d play 4-4-2 with Perez and Rivière. If West Ham put us under any sort of pressure they’ll score so we must attack.

      (Quote)

  7. I would go 3 5 2, pack out the mf to protect 3 at the back and get good supply to the 2 up front. Drop Sissoko and I like Raylor but he’s not up for fifty fifty challenges as I think he fears injury, so drop him too. Bring in Abeid and Aarons and play Cisse from the off.

      (Quote)

  8. Sissoko, don’t jump, no idea why, but he doesn’t. Looked very powder puff on Saturday.

      (Quote)

  9. Krul

    Janmaat Collocini Williamson Dummett

    Perez Colback Abeid Sissoko Cabella

    Cisse

      (Quote)

  10. No way Sissoko is as poor as he’s looked, he just can’t be arsed imo, don’t wanna get injured before a move.

      (Quote)

  11. Well nice to see everyone is playing nicely insyead of all the infighting.
Stu in some ways getting relegated wouldnt bother me as much as I thought it would. But IMO there is no chance of him selling up anytime soon as he would just put another interest free loan in to cover the cost of relegation.
so my main hope is that we survive by the skin of our teeth this season but that the fans have finally woke up and stop their ST’s and stop going to the games and the boycotts and protest take of from the 1st game of the season

      (Quote)

  12. Maybe Krul, Janmaat and Sissoko are fatigued after a world cup year without a break ?

      (Quote)

  13. MM, Them 3 all want away, it’s obvious. Someone needs to tell them the choice of club will significantly narrow if they keep under performing 😉

      (Quote)

  14. Dave, you could well be right. But the reason relegation doesn’t particularly bother me is because I’m bored shitless with watching us in the PL. It really is completely pointless and im tired of seeing players having the club sold to them as a stepping stone. It’s a complete and utter betrayal of our history and tradition, not to mention our supporters who turn up ever my week to see the same players not showing any effort because they’re focused on their next move. It’s just another example of the ruthless approach Ashley has taken in turning a fine sporting institution into a cold, hard business. Football clubs are community assets and should be run as so, not run for the benefit of the owner alone.

  15. Kim MM and I have been saying how gutless Sissoko has been , as has been said I dont know how such a big guy can stand up straight without a spine. But then he isnt the only gutless / spinless player we have

      (Quote)

  16. Stu @ 243 I understand 100% where your coming from. But I think if we are in the championship there will be very little focus on us and the boycotts snd protest, so for me it would give Jabba a peacefull and hassle free year

      (Quote)

  17. Dave if we go down I can assure you Jabba wouldn’t get an easy ride! For a start the crowds would fall off a cliff. People are already giving up tickets for next season whether we’re in the PL or not.

      (Quote)

  18. BIG DAVE 245
agree with ya there if we go down i think theres no chance of him selling meself

      (Quote)

  19. MM @237: I am amazed that you have Willamson in your team? Mark (Gashley) did yesterday as well. People say that he is a total clogger and we could only get thruppence for him at the Fat Man’s jumble sale shops and then select him for their teams for the next week. YCMIU.

      (Quote)

  20. And MM @237: why bother with a 1 up front formation? I am not on a wind up with you man but we have to play for a win next week and just go all out for the win. If Hull win, their better goal difference will keep them up if we lose or draw. Only a win will keep us up if Hull win. If Hull lose or draw it doesn’t matter what we do we will still be safe. So we have to go all out for a win.

      (Quote)

  21. if we do stay up this season we still got collo on 80k a week for another year 😐 which leaves us with a pityfull defence next season also

      (Quote)

  22. dude should be taken to court for fraud trying to pass himself off as a centre back 😯

      (Quote)

  23. Of course a draw would give us minus 25 GD and the Mackems could also lose by a combined 6 or more against **** and Chelsea. Lets go for that scenario and shut up shop against Wet Spam 🙂

I really do think we have to go for a win because you can never trust a Mackem – even when they come from all parts of the world like the current Mackem team does 🙂

      (Quote)

  24. Kim @ 235
thanks for your ringing endorsement to my comment @ 105.
    😉

      (Quote)

  25. So the maths is:

    * Only a Hull win keeps them up.

    * we can draw and the Mackems have to lose by a combined amount of 6 goals against **** and Chelsea.

    * a win for us and we stay up no matter what anybody else does.

We have to go for a win. Krul to hoof a free kick to Williamson and for the first time ever that free kick routine to work for us after the ball hits a pigeon and is deflected in (or gets deflected by a beachball like it did for the mackems against Liverpool that time).

  26. When do you think we will hear the excuse that we didn’t know what division we were playing in when it comes to missing out on all the players this summer?

The rebuilding job is so gargantuan that I really think it’s impossible for the current people in charge to fulfil.

    We need;

    A new MD
    A new Head Coach
    New first team coaches
New medical team inc conditioning coach
    New youth coaches
    About 10 new players

That’s one hell of a job when penny pinching is the order of the day. We will continue to do things on the cheap so we won’t get what we need and relegation will again be on the cards next season if we manage to stay up this season.

      (Quote)

  27. Stuart @257: we also need a new MRI machine as it didn’t work for Aarons and de Jong. And if Pedro keeps saying that the current youth squad are not good enough to step up then we need better scouting or he has to go (Well, he should really go anyway. Great player, terrible coach). But you got all of the main problems right 🙂

      (Quote)

  28. BB@255 😆 just had a look at that, yeah mate I said the other day we should go 3 at the back and 5 in mid with 2 up front.

So don’t be surprised if Parver does just that. 😛

  30. Just read this on SSN from JC:

“I’ll tell the players to keep away from the TV and going online, to keep them focused on preparation,” said Carver.

“If you take your eye off the ball you get punished, and we’ve got to keep our focus sharp.

“It’s still in our hands, and if you want it enough then you can do something about it.

“We’ve got a week to get our heads around this situation.”

Well **** me, if he thinks they’ve had their eye on the ball so far, 1 point out of 30 is hardly reward is it?!.
Also, you haven’t got a week to get your head round it John, you’ve had about 6 pissing months you bell end!!!.
However the genius goes on to say this to the National press:

“I’ve tried everything in the book I think,” said Carver.

“Sometimes the quality’s not there, you’re just not good enough, and Saturday might have been that situation.

“Pressure’s a funny thing, but now we have to control it.”

So they need to keep focus and come together for an all important game, then tells the media they aren’t good enough. How is that galvanising the players?! – no wonder he does want the players reading the papers or Internet with journos & fans having a go – why bother when he can fucking do it?!.

  31. Sharpy, All he has to do is shut up for one sodding week, concentrate on the tactics, try an alternative formation in case plan A goes tits up and big up the players confidence to get them up for ONE BLOODY GAME. Hells bells I’m tearing my hair out here with this bloke in charge.

  32. Shamrock@261, yep, and don’t you just know sunday is the day that stat changes 🙄

  33. Kim I’m gone past caring. Would still be suprised if Hull pull it off, but when all is said and done- we will still be rubbish with a rubbish owner. Where is an ambitious sheikh when you need one?

      (Quote)

  34. This is a very interesting article from Lee Ryder where he basically (copyright P. Beardsley) winds back almost every point that he has made in the past 3 months. He doesn’t go so far as to say John Carver is shyte but he does make small allusions to it. I am not sure if Ryders paymasters won’t allow him to go full out or if he is just a bad journalist – a bit of both I suspect as The Chronic seem to have been beaten down by Ashley’s blatant media manipulation and Ryder went to the John Gibson school of Journalism. He can’t write for toffee and should have a look at a real writer like Barney Ronay in The Guardian before he starts getting all flowery with his words about cathedrals, redemptions and new beginnings.

      (Quote)

  35. This is the utter tripe Ryder is spouting today:

“Carver’s loyalty and passion for the club can’t be questioned, but even he must now realise this almost impossible task is beyond him. When Carver was handed the job on a temporary basis in January while Newcastle looked for a mid-season appointment, he was indeed safe hands at the time.”

I don’t know who talks more rubbish – Ryder or Carver. Yeah, Ugly John bleeds black and white!!!! Repeat it often enough and you might convince yourself – You, Charnley and Troysta were the only ones in favour of the Carver appointment – speaks volumes 🙂

      (Quote)

  36. I see Garde is now out of the running. Is there anybody left? Carver will get the job by default at this rate. I really doubt we will get anybody of any quality. It looks like most coaches don’t need the hassle of working under the regime.

Looking likely that Pardew was the best we could ever hope for under Jabba.

      (Quote)

  37. I don’t want Percy back and Carver can do one in all. I also don’t believe they are the best we can get even under Ashley. There will be a young progressive foreign coach used to Jabbas way of operating out there someone who’d jump at the chance to lead us.

      (Quote)

  38. Kim the problem is would Jabba take on a young progressive foreign coach ?
IMO a young coach would maybe work coming in to an already well run and set up club, but for me we need an experienced coach to try to rebuild the playing side and staff.

      (Quote)

  39. Kim – There surely isn’t a young progressive coach out there who would work under his restrictions? What chance would he have? He would be doomed to failure. What kind of regime lets two defenders go in January to save a bit of money when the the squad needed to bring in a defender, not let two go?

Really, what chance does any coach have?

      (Quote)

  40. Dave, you are right but we won’t get an established guy the way Jabba operates. So maybe someone looking to make his name here is the way, look at Boro, Karanka was just an assistant at Real Madrid albeit he’d played the game .

      (Quote)

  41. There’s nothing left, Kim. That’s the point. Hope is the last thing to dissapear and it went for me the moment they didn’t replace Pardew.

I am finished with this football club until it starts running like a football club.

      (Quote)

  42. we have already got the ‘best coach in the premier league’
If we survive then carver will get the job permanently along with a few new signings
If we get relegated, carver will get the job permanently to take us down to Div 1
    I really don’t see the problem 😕

      (Quote)

  43. The problem is the fans that just won’t stop buying season tickets.
“I’ve had my seat for 25 years, no way I’m giving it up now”

      (Quote)

  44. Spot on, BB. Who would want the job in the PL where you’re doomed to fail and who would want the job in Championship when there’ll be no support and supporter revolt?

Basically under Ashley, were ****** whatever way we turn.

      (Quote)

  45. sounds to me like Dr Ed is at breaking point too.
I think he will wrap up his blog if we get relegated.
He seems to be sick as a dog poor fella.
There’s just no joy in it for him anymore.
That and the sheer number of arseholes dominating the comments.

      (Quote)

  46. I disagree a tad there Stuart
I think the planks who won’t stop buying ST’s will still turn up in the championship.
But in all honesty if carver stays at the helm, I don’t see us staying in the championship for long.
    1st Division here we come.
Fatty might aswell start writing down the debts to himself now 😛
because there is no way he is getting his money back anytime soon. 😆

      (Quote)

  47. so do we want arsenal to beat the mackems on Wednesday or not ?
That would mean manure have nothing to play for on sunday – not good –

      (Quote)

  48. BB – I feel a serious shift in attitude of the supporters. We haven’t got more than 47,000 in the last few games and they’ve been big games. Add to that Championship football and it will be under 35,000. It was about 40,000 last time we were in the Fizzy. If we stay in the PL I believe we will see sub 40’s. People are just sick. As for Carver getting the job; that will be the final straw for a lot.

      (Quote)

  49. Dave I have resent the article to you. Just made a couple of small changes to spelling etc.

      (Quote)

  50. Sharpy – Yes haha, now that they are a small team that does not win things anymore!

Ice you’ll enjoy this one mate 🙂

      (Quote)

  51. yes manure are a selling club
they are also a buying club
how much will they pay for tim krul ? 😆
    no seriously hugo loris ?

      (Quote)

  52. Haris Vuckic is really starting to flourish at Rangers. He is playing just behind the 2 forwards and linking play up really well. I always thought he looked good in that position. Not only is he linking up well, but he’s back defending and saved Ranger’s skin with a goal line clearance in their win over Queen of the South. If we used him properly, we’d have a good player on his hands.

Interestingly, I also think De Jong is best when played behind the 2 strikers. We need to look at a diamond type formation. Abeid narrow right midfield, Colback anchor, Aarons left wing, De Jong behind 2 strikers linking up play and marauding into the box from deep. Dummett staying back and concentrating on defending with Janmaat coming forward to help down the right wing with Abeid dropping back to cover when that happens. Problem solved. You reading this Carver? Then Vuckic can be De Jong’s stand in next season.

      (Quote)

  53. interesting that Vukic plays behind 2 strikers
    a concept alien to NUFC
