Who is the fans’ choice?

Mr Keane has been linked in recent days!
Mr Keane has been linked in recent days!
This is a quick canvass of our readers to establish who the people want as our next manager. I have only named the coaches that will realistically be in the running judging purely by the volume of recent press reports. Moyes has been left off the list because he has not been linked much for some reason. Mr Klopp has been left out as quite frankly, he is wet dream that is highly unlikely to happen! Pole closes at about 18:00.

  1. Yeah TAE, it was driving me mad. Need to work out how to re-size the PL table down the side now, so that we can see how many points teams have!

  2. Can anyone actually believe sheer audacity of that pleb, Blatter? I just can’t believe he said in his speech that if two other countries (England & US) had won the 2018 & 2022 WC bids FIFA wouldn’t be in this mess!!! Why has nobody taken him up on this? Is he really saying that the FBI would have turned a blind eye to this disgusting behaviour if USA had won their bid? How is he allowed to get away with this? If anyone is a candidate for assassination its him!

  3. He is barking. Classic defense mechanism, go on the attack in a last ditch effort to save your skin! So he’s saying if we had bribed FIFA, we would have been rewarded with the Cups and nobody would ever have been found out. Funny that he has not stated that his independent investigation found no evidence of bribery. Instead they just refused to publish the results. How bent can you get? And Russia’s computers being wiped after their bid was won? Haha. I also cant believe he said he cant be expected to monitor everybody all of the time when those 7 got arrested! These were his key players! It’s his responsibility to ensure his organisation is clean, whether he knew or not is beside the point. Either he is incompetent, or complicit.

Its gona be a lot of fun watching the FIFA old guard go down. Using American computer and e-mail systems to steal from them though? How stupid can you get?

  4. Shamrock if you get a chance you could send Eric an email, as I have been flat out today and still havent had the chance.
If not i’ll do it later

  5. Where’s Viera’s name come from? Being mentioned all over the place now.
He’s DOF at Man City isn’t he? Mind you it could be the place to look for players too. There must be some really good 4th choices at all the big clubs. Where did Nastasic at City go? Who’s in line after Zouma at Chelsea?

  6. Appointment could be end of next week according to Mark Douglas. But it doesn’t sound like anyone has a club who though. My money’s still on McClaren.

  7. I have heard a few say that now Georgio. Hasn’t he been out of management for donkeys years now?

      (Quote)

  8. wolfie, zoe, marktoon, solanos trumpet, jj, jobey, dan4toon, moreno, archie, nufc stats and many others from the old guard. Where have you gone?

      (Quote)

  9. Sham – I know he had a school of some kind in Spain for years. Think it was for young players released from their clubs trying to ressurect their careers. Hasn’t he also been coaching part time at QPR this season?

@NUFC_Stats Paul dummet has told a fan and apparently colbacks brother says it’s a done deal

    🙄 😯

  11. I have not seen much of him. Is he quick and can he cross properly?

*I heard from a 3rd cousin who bumped into the grandson of the sister of the NUFC tea lady that Phillips was a done deal too.

  12. Dont know Georgio – I personally would rather we went with a younger, fresher manager more adapted to the modern game.

      (Quote)

  13. Shamrock so your basically saying you want to see a younger manager given a chance.

Gareth Southgate former Boro manager and england u21 coach

Alan Shearer former NUFC manager and record goal scorer

Dennis Wise former manager of Leed and has DOF experience

      (Quote)

  14. Stem I did not say hire anybody. Just somebody with recent, relevant experience. not really sure what you are getting at. If you would prefer a manager whowe last job was a failure in the Championship some 10 years ago over a dynamic manager with recent eleventh success then fair enough. Maybe the word younger was wrong, but definitely fresher and modern.

  15. Shamrock I’m only messing around mate. There pretty awful candidates but that’s the sort of thing Ashley does. No-one expected JFK, AP, JC, DW or AS on aprils fools day. I wouldn’t get your hopes up because it will be a big fall.

  16. So P Vieira odds went from 33/1 to 8/1 this morning now down to 7/2 somebody is splashing the cash or is it bookies trying to cash in??

      (Quote)

  17. Patrick Viera?! 😯 not sure what to make of that one.

Where’s this Matt Phillips link come from? – good player, I wanted him from Blackpool but would take him now if there’s any truth in it.

      (Quote)

  18. Shamrock: thanks for the e-mail. It will be a while before I write anything as I haven’t even thought of a subject yet. If some of the threads get too long I will get on it.

  19. Well Blatter re-elected then as suspected. What a joke that is, anyone else heading an organisation with such a scandal would have been sacked.

      (Quote)

  20. What a farce! While lot will close ranks. I imagine a lot of computers are being wiped and papers being shredded at the moment!

Stem – no worries mate 😀 and Eric I look forward to your material.

      (Quote)

  21. Interesting that Moyes is thought to be on the shortlist too. Can’t see that to be honest. He is renowned for scouting and double scouting and being very in control of the signings his club’s make. Still with McClaren…

      (Quote)

  22. Sham – I’ve never heard of that kid have you?. Apparently he moved to his current club for £11m, so I don’t see us paying more than that like.

      (Quote)

  23. Ayew is a player I wish was at toon, and now they are going to sign players over 26 get Pirlo in on a free, lovely jubbly

      (Quote)

  24. we shouldn’t forget nufc are a basket case club who penny pinch there way to epl survival, and lack all ambition. the incoming manager has an absolutely massive job on his hands.
any head coach worth his salt wouldn’t touch the job.

      (Quote)

  25. Anyone know where this new training complex is? My guess is still in Kinnears ball bag!

      (Quote)

  26. Ice – if he’s said that then mate, he’ll defo end up in Italy . I think he’s a top player though and we should defo be after him.

      (Quote)

  27. Does that mean Ameobi is signing another contract or can’t we release him due to his age and compound that would be due?

      (Quote)

  28. SHARPY its been said we have offered him 4/5 mil signing on fee as he’s on a free, let’s see

      (Quote)

  29. Poor Jonas I would have given him a years contract, think he would be good for dressing room. and a canny sub

      (Quote)

  30. In all fairness, Ice I would like to think we will have better players than Jonas next season. He’s an absolute legend at the club and that will do for me.

      (Quote)

  31. Pissed off Jonas is going. What a way to repay a grafter and decent guy, surely worth a years extension or place in coaching set up. 🙁

      (Quote)

  32. Lets hope Jabba has big plans or come next may he may wish he had the likes of Jonas in the dressing room.

      (Quote)

  33. Kim I can understand them letting Raylor go but I think Jonas would have been handy to have.
But I guess thats another 2 players we have to replace before we even start to strengthen the squad that already needed strengthened

      (Quote)

  34. I think Cabella could be a decent player once he settles. He needs a coach to tell him to stop the bloody stepovers though. They don’t work in the EPL. I know he is no Chritiano, but when Ronaldo stopped with the stepovers he became a much better player.

      (Quote)

  35. I always thought Jonas was about an average PL player, someone who definitely deserved his place in the squad though. In terms of leadership and character he has shown that he is too good for the present NUFC hierarchy. Good luck Jonas.

      (Quote)

  36. Dave, I think Raylor was a tidy player for us but since his terrible injuries he’s lost his mojo, for want of a better word. He’s actually pulled out of tackles a few times, understandable given his injury and coming back so late in season. He played a blinder against Man City when he first came back, pity he couldn’t keep that level up, another honest pro and decent guy though. Wish them both well for the future.

      (Quote)

  37. Let’s be fair, does jabba give Anyone a square deal who cannot make money for him,ime with KIM here give the guy a player/coach place,he’s got to be better than the ***** we have on the coaching staff

      (Quote)

  38. Ice, tell you what if Jonas goes back to Argentina he’d make a good scout for us.

      (Quote)

  39. Stu@129, He’ll have to have a good coach to bring out the best of him. He has it there but isn’t the real deal yet by a long way.

      (Quote)

  40. STUART@129 I will wait and see who gets the coach job before I comment if he can become the talent I think he has

      (Quote)

  41. I think Carr is a very good scout but we have to stop shopping in JUST the bargain bin. I really hope De Jong gets his fitness but I fear he might be a perma-crock like Marveaux, and the Taylors. We need to consider injury records when we buy, especially when you realise our Dr.s and physios don’t seem to know what they are doing. Look at Jonas – he was misdiagnosed by our team Dr.

      (Quote)

  42. I have no faith at all in the jokers at the club getting a competent manager in place. we’ll enter the new season scurrying around trying vainly to get free transfers and Championship players over the line, and may sign 1 “marquee” player at around 8 million pound. Expect another panic buy in the January window in an attempt to stave off relegation…
We’ll not go away for a pre-season tour because 1- it will cost money, and 2 – we will see it as a disruption as our new coach is trying to bed in new players in too short a time period…

Good luck Jonas and Raylor, two great toon servants who gave there all this season to keep us in the EPL. Good luck lads…

      (Quote)

  43. MM: the pre-season tour might happen to promote the brand – sports direct, not NUFC 🙂 It is amazing that they have not set anything up yet. If it was the USA for example, you would think they would want fans to have a bit of time to get plane tickets and hotels.

      (Quote)

  44. Ice – that’s a good offer for Ayew – we wouldn’t normally offer that for a player in contract, never mind a freebie 😆

Raylor & Jonas both excellent pros and good guys, but I reckon it’s the right decision to let them go. Jonas couldn’t leave on a bigger high to be fair.

Stu – is that right that Sammy has been offered a new deal?.

      (Quote)

  45. @elgalgojonas: Two things I learn from my illness how you can support a player (newcastle fans) and how you leAve a player alone (newcastle owner)

Looks like Jonas is on the pop. Wonder what else we learn…

      (Quote)

  46. Stu – I’m pleased for Sammy. He’s not a bad squad player to have. But the fact that Campbell & Streete were our next big thing at one stage – and are now being released is yet more proof that our development system is ******.

      (Quote)

  47. Stu@140, Just read that, glad he’s telling it as it is. Makes his effort on the last day all the more impressive doesn’t it. Really, a lot wouldn’t have given a **** after such shoddy treatment. Shows what a true pro he is that he dragged us kicking and screaming through that match.

      (Quote)

  48. Eric@137, I know but how can they seriously consider going forward with either of them ❓

      (Quote)

  49. I think it’s a positive sign that the club are getting rid of these players. We need to create space in the squad for new recruits. The end of contracts are a start, follow that with the likes of Willo and Obertan for example and I’ll be happy.
