Well it’s that time of year again. New Manager, New Coaches and hopefully new Players. We have been promised some big spending but I suspect that 2 £15 players will be the limit with a few cheaper options. The question is who? But in order to determine that we need to determine how we are going to play. 1 striker or 2? Wing Backs? Three at the back? Well we need an all new back four just about so I’ll go 4-4-1-1.
So starting at the front we need a CF to lead the Line, and Charlie Austin at £15m has been linked, So has Andy Carroll at considerably less. I don’t see Bamford or Berhino as leading the line. Bas Dost is 6′ 5” which is good, and at £7m a cheaper option. We already have Cisse, but I want three options. So I would look at Robert Beric from Rapid Vienna only 23 Slovenian and with 27 goals from 33 starts last season, a snip at £2m.
Behind our CF we need a creative second striker. We have DeJong, Vuckic & Perez. In this SS / Attacking Midfield role. That’s 2 sicknotes and a kid. So I would cast a look at Nikolaos Karelis who is 23 and plays as a second striker for Panathinaikos. He would cost about £2.5m and he scored 13 goals last season. Juanmi from Malaga is only 22 would cost £6m but only scored 8.
Also in attacking roles I want wingers. We have Cabella and Marveaux. Maybe McLaren can get a tune out of those two, and we have young Aarons coming through. But this is where we need to spend. On the LW I’d buy Shkelzen Gashi from FC Basel at 26 and £5m he is not cheap, but 26 goals from 39 last season is not to be sniffed at. On the RW I want Domenico Berardi. Now this is my big buy. He’s only 20, left footed right winger, playing for Sassuolo (on loan from Juve) in Italy Serie A he knocked in 15 gaols and 13 assists. A snip at £15m. I’ll take that.
CM we have Tiote & Sissoko who if on their day are actually an excellent pairing. However, we may lose one or both of them which leaves Colback and Abeid which whilst OK does need some support. I’m not convinced that Anita & Bigi provide that. Possibly Leroy Fer & Will Hughes who McLaren will know, but at about £8m each do we need to spend? For me only if we sell in this area first.
Full backs we have Dummett & Haidara on the left and Janmaat on the right. Now I know Micah Richards has been mentioned, but Kieron Tripper at Burnley and Andy Robertson from Hull both had decent seasons and £8m for the pair might be better value than Richards wages.
Which of course leaves CB I think that given that the only one who may make the grade is Lescalles, and he is not the finished article, then we can look at Steven Caulker at QPR and James Chester at Hull. But I like the look of Stefan Mitovic at Frieburg. At £3m he is about the same prices as James Chester whilst Steven Caulker is being talked of at £15m.
So, there are 3 £15m players there, Austin, Calker & Berardi. I’ll happily settle for 2 of those. Then there are another 6 players for a total of £20m Beric, Karelis, Gashi, Tripper, Robertson & Mitrovic. Then if we need some others due to players moving on then there are a few options in there. Now I’m not suggesting for 1 minute that I’m a better scout than Carr, or that the stats that I have accessed for these players means that they are the right players for us, but is shows what is out there. We could have a complete new team. But then Spurs tried that when they sold Bale. And this is Newcastle. Will Ashley put his money where his mouth is?
Darlow, Jaanmat, Aaulker, Mitrovic, Robertson, Fer, Hughes, Berardi, DeJong, Gashi, Austin
Who do you want?
By Premandup
I have heard Austin likes the high life, clue would be in his name.
May well be lucky if you do not sign him.

I am a bit manic depressive about NUFC at the moment. I think we have a chance to progress and then we lose out on Ayew to Swansea. That Swansea that were in the old 4th Division about 10 years ago, with no history and where most of their fans would rather pick up the ball than kick it. You have to think that Fatty would want to keep his worldwide advertising hoardings but when Swans have more ambition than us I begin to doubt it. But, there’s still time and with Moncur on the board everything will be better 🙂
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Eric, Don’t worry, The Football board have it all under control. What we do is, we get quoted a price andbreak use its way above our valuation and don’t realise the world of football has moved on since 1995.
Stuart79(Quote)
Aubameyang, Lacazette or Bony we wouldn’t pay for and look at their worth now. Wonder if we will ever learn?
Stuart79(Quote)
Its alright guys, the Ashley statement and the subsequent rapid sacking of Carver/stone plus the appointment of Schteve Maca and subsequent links to quality players, has resulted in a surge of season ticket sales in the last week or so.
Job done for now.
The pressure is off
Nothing new to see here
Come back in a few weeks
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
More strange goings on north of the border in Glasgow.
The share holders at Rangers have voted to refuse Ashleys request for his £5M loan back but at the same time demanding he renegotiates the terms of the agreements with Shyte Defect.
😆
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
Chill out peeps, it will happen

And another thing. Wouldn’t you think it would be time for Lee Ryder to resign? After writing so many suck up pieces about his best mate Carvs, wouldn’t you think he would admit he was wrong about everything? Does he have any credibility now (if he ever had)? Are we supposed to believe anything the local paper says – they didn’t even attend the McClaren unveiling.
The NUFC blogs are much more interesting than the so-called professional journalists who are paid to “report”. But The Chronic has just given up, Lee’s job is the easiest in the world:
1. He takes John Gibson’s template of **** writing and adds a couple of names of players and calls it an article
2. Puts up a poll of the latest player link to see how many want or don’t want him.
3. Writes some BS saying 5 things we learnt from the stuff he just made up.
4. Takes his jolly to Milwaukee and gets trashed on expense account Tequila shots at The Pfister whilst never actually interviewing any NUFC player.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
I suppose there is more chance of Troysta admitting he was wrong that Lee Ryder doing so 🙂

Fixtures day 😛
Anybody else not as excited as normal ?
I just hope we play the mackems at home first this season and can put an end to the Pardew/Carver era once and for all.
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
If that can be construed as being positive, then sorry about that.
😉

I see the toon are being linked with a Brighton centre back by the name of Dunk, he makes Williamson look like John Terry.
Have a look at this

Apparently Newcastle think they can sell 30 year old strikers with bad knees for the same price as buying his 22-24 year old replacement.
It also looks like we have to sell him first, to find the funds to replace him.
Nothing changes @ NUFC
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
we always have to sell first before we buy. I dont believe we want 10 mil for Cisse. paper-***** but I reckon we’ll be looking to off load before we buy, although we got money for the player to Rangers, Santon and Pardew..
Gashley(Quote)
The Chron must be gutted they dont get any news feeds from St James
yesterday they reported we’re considering fast-tracking a bid LOL 🙄 now theyre saying we are weighing up a bid for the England striker before the weekend….
As the United boss meets Lee Charnley and Graham Carr to thrash out a way forward in the transfer market, we publish the results of our biggest ever Big Toon Survey of Newcastle fans. 🙄
Gashley(Quote)
You know, there are a couple of coaches on the dole at the minute – I wonder if Pardew will hire them? He seems to be looking at all NUFC former players, so why not coaches (‘coz they were *****?). I will send Troysta a pound if either Stoney or Carvs get hired by their former boss.

So one point from first four games?
Stuart79(Quote)
We better get some players in sharpish as we have a very difficult start to the season – Southampton, Swans, Man U, ****. We can’t be hanging around until the end of the transfer window because we could easily be on no points if we are not careful and … THEN THE FUN WOULD REALLY BEGIN …

Boxing day at home to Villa

BB – I’m hoping new manager syndrome for Southampton game. Although if the club are hoping to play hard ball in the transfer market and wait until 31st August I’ll have to re-assess!
Stuart79(Quote)
Boots – your post about Dunk is a cracking OG, but he’s better than that like and scored 7 goals as a CB last season. Quite a number of CBs have made the step up from the championship and I think this lad could, but he would need experience next to him.
Sharpy17(Quote)
Kim – yeah, it’s a baptism of fire for McClaren that isn’t it. But if he believes he can manage at this level then there should be 4-6 points there I reckon.
Mind you, without any coaching staff or players he’s gonna find it a lot more difficult!!
Sharpy17(Quote)
NOTHING EVER CHANGES!
BIGPAPA(Quote)
Sharpy – aye it was tongue in cheek I think
I’ll trust Maca’s instinct anyway, ‘cus he’s a ‘Top Coach’ don’t you know.
The top 8 is beckoning and the FA cup already has wor name on it.
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
Sharpy, the run in isn’t too clever either should we be in trouble again, which I’m half expecting tbh. Unless we shore up our defence properly this window we are in for a horrible season imo.

Gutted about the April fixtures. Me and 4 mates have birthdays in the first week and usually go to a home game as part of our celebrations – looks like Swansea this year.
Sharpy17(Quote)
Boots – I swiped out of that Utube clip & Joey Barton on The Claire Balding show was there. I hadn’t seen it so watched some of it – really good and very interesting what he was saying about his time in France. He was saying that the French mentality is that to train hard is a sign of weakness to them – as in the really good players believe because they are good they don’t need to train hard – only the not so good players need to put the graft in. Might explain why so many French players take so long to settle in, or don’t make the grade at all.
Sharpy17(Quote)
Let’s hope I don’t have to go give another team talk in May to save us from relegation 😉 Maybe I will anyway, and catch up with my old pal Troy.
Though I wouldn’t mind going to France to watch the Euros. I fancy that actually. I haven’t been to Paris for a couple of decades. Hopefully it’ll be warmer than May in Newcastle.
brisvegas(Quote)
I see City have bid £40m for Sterling … I’d snap their hand off!!.
But it’s mad bids like that that may cause QPR to try & drive Austins price up.
Sharpy17(Quote)
Sharpy – City paying over the odds for players isn’t anything new, it’s been going on for years so it shouldn’t effect the transfer window too much. Unless they’re going after the same players as us which I doubt very much.
Stuart79(Quote)
Stu – I’d just settle on knowing who our backroom staff are going to be at the minute to be honest with you mate
Sharpy17(Quote)
Couldn’t care less about them to be fair. Without good players they might as well be Geoffrey, Bungle and Zippy!
Stuart79(Quote)
I think we’ll do fine at the beginning of the season, don’t forget all other teams will have a wealth of new players to bed in and get used to playing together.
We’re too savvy to fall for that slippy hurdle.
You Yew(Quote)
Sharpy @487: Barton just makes stuff up mate and lets his mouth run. Imagine a Frenchy not training for the Paris Marathon and just turning up and thinking he would finish it? Everyone knows you have to train and practice for an elite sport and Barton is just full of ***** as usual. If you doubt me I will post his Tate Modern art critique again. F-it I will do it anyway.

Amusing news that the football board are due to meet later this week to discuss potential targets.
Surely that can’t be an accurate description of where we are in the process?
Surely.
You Yew(Quote)
Eric – I remember Jonny Wilkinson saying a similar thing when he went over there to play mate. He wasn’t saying they don’t train at all, just that it wasn’t as intense – a much slower pace of live.
Sharpy17(Quote)
And Sharpy: in the clip above @495: Joey the Barton has a t-shirt with the periodic table on to show he is dead clever like.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Ha ha UU – you know it is but
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
But, enough about Barton’s rubbish. We need players NOW.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
You Yew, they’ll be meeting this week to discuss targets for next summer. This summers business will have gone a little like this;
QPR – “We want £15m for Austin”
NUFC – “Ok no thanks”
WBA – “We want £20m for Berahino”
NUFC – “Ok no thanks”
Football Board – “Right lads, let’s get this shortlist drawn up for next year. We must be well prepared.”
Stuart79(Quote)
UU: these people don’t have mobile phones, skype, conference calling capabilities? It is beyond belief that they have to delay everything because they are not in the latter half of the 20th Century in terms of communications never mind 15 years into the 21st f-ing Century.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
You can just sense that brief and very cautious sense of optimism amongst the fans slowly but surely reverting to apathy and cynicism.
I’m just about clinging on with what’s left of my chewed to the flesh finger nails. I won’t stop believing just yet. I just won’t.
But they need to do something more than have a wee cup of tea and a chat.
Maybe they’re catching up on some knitting or crochet?
You Yew(Quote)
Stoke have already signed three players. Southampton have been at it too. Two teams we are chasing.
Stuart79(Quote)
But, from what I have seen of Bobby Moncur he went to sleep in 1990 and hasn’t woken up yet. Welcome to the board and why not write a few fawning pieces for The Chronic whilst you are at it.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
As I said earlier, I want to believe we will do something but until we actually do it, you just can’t help but doubt them. Please prove me wrong Bobby Moncur and Lee Charnley.

I would class myself as one of the more patient on here, but I find myself needing something from the club soon to maintain my faith that are changing for the better. There have been changes – but there is nothing to suggest it’s for the better yet. I truly hope we aren’t let down again
Sharpy17(Quote)
Sharpy – The likes of Troy and I will never feel let down by the club as we never expect anything other than utter rubbish.
Stuart79(Quote)
Stuart: you and Troy have both given up season tickets and yet you say you are not let down – a contradiction, yes?
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Not really, because I expected it. I didn’t build my hopes up to have them deflated. My hopes were always rock bottom. I can only be pleasantly surprised now, but not let down.
Stuart79(Quote)
Villa sign Richards. I’m wondering if Charnley’s nickname will be Nero?
Stuart79(Quote)
Charlton Cole is are number one target this summer not Charlie Austin. Charlie Austin is just a smokescreen to put other clubs off Charlton Cole. We shall succeed.
Terry(Quote)
We’ve a tough first four fixtures then…are we going to have signed anyone to actually give us a chance of winning any of those matches, or are we going to wait and assess the damage and go from the first two matches before deciding if we should sign anyone?…
Newkie(Quote)
Joseph Yobo is top of our centre back list but Titus Bramble could make an incredible comeback if Joseph turn’s us down.
Terry(Quote)
I heard the Journo’s got it wrong. Charnley wanted an Aston Martin and they thought he meant Austin. Still think Carlton Cole and maybe Bobby Zamora will be the strikers over the line… 🙄 😯 🙂
Stuart79(Quote)
Stuart heres my list of players mate.
Charlton Cole
Jermaine Pennant
Titus Bramble
Joseph Yobo
All free agents and cheap and there’s even money left over to sign Jonas.
