  1. If that £25m war chest is anywhere near the truth then they can kiss the PL ta ta cause that squad needs around £100m spent on it in reality. I could stomach £50m but 25 is a joke.

  2. Austin had one good season in the premier league, At the moment he’s on par with Grant Holt, Danny Graham, Michael Ricketts, Andy Johnson & Kevin Phillips

      (Quote)

  3. Kim – @532 how do you know that for sure?, coz the papers wrote it?.
They were linking us with him when Pardew was here, so for me it’s just a regurgitated bull **** story coz they got nowt else to write

      (Quote)

  4. Sharpy, Well that’s what happens when the press is the clubs enemies, BS gets printed 😉 True or not £10m for Deeney 😯 bit steep imo, what do you reckon?

      (Quote)

  5. To be honest Neither are, when we’re signing one of the red hot strikers of European football for £9m It shown how ridiculous the prices are for English players.

Out of the English strikers we’ve been linked with I liked the idea of Bamford on loan with an option to buy, that way we could see if he could step up. Hes certainly got more to his game than Austin and Deeney and a lot younger.

      (Quote)

  6. Kim – that maybe so, but we don’t have to believe it. The lad reminds me a bit of Leon Best, and I certainly don’t think he was a £10m CF. Difficult one I suppose coz Watford will look at Ulloa going for around that price last season and Shane Long. Is he that much different to Rivière?!, I’d sooner try and get him scoring personally.

      (Quote)

  7. And what’s put me off even more is this ridiculous situation that were prepared to sell Cisse to fund bids for the likes of Austin

      (Quote)

  8. CC& Sharpy, aye we have a major problem this window imo. We do need a bit more British grit but as you say it’s costly to buy home grown and in the case of Austin and Deeney it’s still a gamble. I do think Austin will continue to play well but not sure he’ll massively increase in value tbh. Time will tell what our ambitions really are I suppose.

      (Quote)

  9. CC, re Bamford, made remarks some time back where he was critical of McClaren playing him out of position I believe.

      (Quote)

  10. Kim – the trouble with the toon is that we can pull off 5 signings in a week, or we can go a whole window signing no sod. I remain hopeful as they have all publicly acknowledged the squad needs strengthening. So my hope is that they are busy beavering away on deals & are just too busy to speak to the press. But I have to be honest, the first signing will be met more with relief than excitement I reckon

      (Quote)

  11. Kim – I would hope Mc would be bigger than that. It would seem stupid to cut ya nose off just coz a young lad made a comment – Christ if he took offence to anyone making comments about him he’d have no time for anyone 😆

      (Quote)

  12. Kim – I guess that would be dependant on whether Mc could assure him a first team place or that he’d play him as a CF. no different to anyone else I guess.

      (Quote)

  13. They wanted an early signing through the door and that hasn’t happened. They wanted the coaching staff in place by Monday and that hasn’t happened. McClaren wants his signings made by the time the players are back for pre season training and unless we go on a signing feast that’s not going to happen either.

New era – same as before!

    @buntiman Can’t argue there, Anth.

  15. I am glad the fan’s aren’t renewing their season tickets. They’re not as stupid as Ashley thinks. The crap football they had to put up with last season just so Ashley can piss on them again. Fuck off Ashley you piece of ****!

      (Quote)

  16. Steve McClaren won’t last. The fan’s will turn on him because Ashley is a total liar, cheapskate, parasite!

      (Quote)

  17. Dave…Maybe it is sorted and they haven’t announced it yet, it’s not like they are great communicators. I’m fairly sure the backroom staff are pretty much sorted (****n should be anyway) maybe they are on there jollies and they’ve agreed to come and it’s just a case of them signing the paperwork on their return?….if not we can always get Stone and Carver back 😛

      (Quote)

  18. I see the season ticket deadline has been extended AGAIN! It’s not a deadline anymore it’s a livelive!

Wonder if they’ll go back if we have a good summer with transfers? Personally I will buy another If we have a satisfactory transfer window. But I ain’t holding my breath!

  19. Charnley really doesn’t get owt done quick does he ? The bloke is as quick as a three toed sloth.
The players we are looking at now will debut next season… 😆

  21. so season ticket sales are down.
The easiest way to see a rush to renew is to stop bull****ting and spreading misinformation, and bring in a top target at the earliest opportunity.
Unfortunately the regime think we are all stupid inbred Geordie fools.
    Wrong again.
Unfortunately they never learn, do they.
Its going to end in tears.

      (Quote)

  22. Kim – have you had a look at his goals on Utube – not that I’m using it as a scouting tool. But a lot of his goals are scored as a result of a long ball over the top. He’s a decent finisher but if we get him, we might want to think about keeping Willo – he could get a **** load of assists next season just by clearing the ball 😆

      (Quote)

  23. Boots – @562 that’s right mate, you’re from Gateshead and not a Geordie at all are you!! 😆

  24. Fans forum will be 6th July. That’s the early Fans Forum that was to be brought forward! They’ll be expecting everyone to be on their holidays no doubt. Wonder if Schteve will be here or if we will have signed a player?

      (Quote)

  25. Those fan’s forums are a waste of time anyway. I can’t see us finishing in the top 8 or winning a cup. I can see us buying cheap second rate players from the championship and fighting for PL survival. The man has spent 1 million in 8 years and pushing above our weight is probably 10 million. Spending money is something Ashley hates doing. Sissoko, Santon, Pardew and MYM will be the money spent.

      (Quote)

  26. Sharpy @ 563 the only problem is Willos hoofs always went to the other side , just like Kruls. They were good hoofers but didn’t have a very good aim.

      (Quote)

  27. Dave – hells flames mate, you want accuracy as well?! They just can’t do enough to keep some happy

      (Quote)

  28. There’s a few journo’s mentioning the kitty is £25m. If that’s the case it’s a drop in the ocean compared to what we need. Everyone else will spend that minimum so we won’t get better we will just go further behind.

      (Quote)

  29. I honestly believe that Charlie Austin should be the first signing, he’ll definitely bang in the goals. I believe that Berardi would be a great signing but he’s definitely more expensive, his market value is of around 30 million euros..

      (Quote)

  30. If NUFC are planning to sell Cisse they better have a plan B. I think he scored 11 goals last season even with his bad knee and suspensions. Next best was 4. We aren’t going to get very far if we only score 30 goals a season.

I am trying to remain optimistic but fear the football world have us sussed now. Fatty is always looking for a bargain but at this point there aren’t any bargains. All the money sloshing around has made it a sellers market and the sooner we realise this the better. We will have to overpay, that is the reality of the situation.

Fatman made his money selling cheap tat to the masses but football is not like that now. You have upstarts like Palace and Swans competing and outbidding us while Charnley takes 6 months to appoint a manager.

I really hope they have some irons in the fire and that every transfer target that goes to another club is not the sum total of their endeavor. Let’s get a move on boys.

      (Quote)

  31. nice to see the hysteria starting to build nicely!! 😆 😆 fueled by press generated bull****!! 😆 😆 Deary me… 😯 😳 😳

      (Quote)

  32. AMF: it is not “hysteria” when it is justified. If the last 8 years have shown us anything it is that we should doubt Fatty and his lackey’s until they show us different.

      (Quote)

  33. No the transfer window isn’t open, but deals are being done regardless.
We are quick to off load players when it suits tho.
As for the transfer budget, who knows.
I don’t care. It’s quite simple tho if they want fans inside then they have got to bring in some quality players.
More of the same, will result in more turmoil on Tyneside. Protests boycotts and probably riots.
The clock is running down on the clueless crew. They are only fooling themselves.

      (Quote)

  34. AMF, Troysta and BrisV should all just get together and have a “settling” party. Carvs and Pards are good enough and what we deserve!!!! We should just accept that we were on a level with Chelsea 10 years ago and now they are light years ahead. Abramovich is a crook but he has promoted their brand to the extent that they are one of the top 5 teams in the world. The only brand we promote is Sports Direct. And we are expected to accept that?

A few decent signings and I will cheer up 🙂 I told you I was a bit manic depressive about NUFC at the moment 🙂

  37. Sorry but your are whipping each other in to a depressive frenzy….. it reminds me of when a blogger on here was crying that we couldn’t even sign Jack Colback when it was reported that he was off to Westham… 😆 😆
Sorry but if you are basing your mood on paper hear say than that is your problem…Ashley has stated he will fix things and I will, with reluctance, give him a chance to back up his word…. time will tell….

      (Quote)

  38. Stuart… That’ll be the same press who quoted the figures of £40m, £50m, £60m etc not one of them knows what it is.

Window opens 1st of July not…however I’m guessing you can get all the medicals done and contracts signed before that, the only thing you can’t do is register it with the Premier League/FA. The better players or more accurately, more sought after players (Austin for example) will nearly always wait and see which teams will come in for them and who offers the most cash which is why deals for those sort of players often take longer. There’s often nowt a mediocre, mid table team like NUFC can do but play the waiting game for such players and hope that their offer is the best on the table at the end of it (chuckles to himself)

      (Quote)

  39. Aussie – @586 spot on mate, Colback is the perfect example as well. I think what escapes some is that NOBODY has signed Austin yet but because some paper says we are looking to sign Deeney – well that must mean the tight arses won’t pay the fee for Austin.
That said, it would be nice to hear who the coaching staff are going to be like.

      (Quote)

  40. They’ll be haggling over salaries, Sharpy. McClaren was on more than Pardew when he was at Derby so I’m assuming Simpson was too.

      (Quote)

  41. Stu – yeah he must be after Simpson & they are sorting out Compo with Derby, coz I’m sure Round & Zenden are out of work so they would have been sorted by now. Maybe that was what the meeting was for yesterday – getting everyone signed on.

      (Quote)

  42. Its not as bad as the yellow and white monstrosity that we had a few years back!
Regarding the coaches, I was told that all SMs staff at Derby were coming as well. Eric Steele was the one who said as much (according to my sauce). Remember I called the SM appointment waaaaay before the press!
So maybe existing contracts are being dealt with?
Derby may not want to let them go so who knows what the wash up will be?

      (Quote)

  43. Richie the voice of reason 😯

    Aussie

Eric Steele virtually confirmed he was joining in an article with the mail, Maybe the hold up is Woodman to Palace. They might want the whole coaching staff sorted before announcing it ?

      (Quote)

  44. CC, never saw that article mate… anyway, very few deals are simple now days.. clubs need to agree, club needs to meet players terms, club need to meet greedy agents terms…. I can see why it could easily break down!!

      (Quote)

  45. ffs why do some people always have to try and be level headed and reasonable about things.
We all know how you really feel.
    Go on let it out
Have a bloody good rant and get it off your chest.
I promise you’ll feel much better afterwards.
