  1. That’s a ringing endorsement Axel. Fingers crossed he comes in. Would be a promising start.

  2. The storey has been removed from sky transfer page as well but has left on about him turning scum down putting toon as favorite to sign him, very strange ganning ons

  3. Aye Ice. We’re about to sign a decent player for the going rate.
    Very strange ganning ons indeed!

  4. Cheers for link Sham.
Something I’ve missed till that read was the fact the lad scored 16 from midfield last season!
That’s something we’ve definitely been missing.
Actually, even a striker scoring that many has been a while.
And was Captain so obviously has leadership qualities, which is something else quite lacking.
If we can get him on the pitch with Janmaat and de Jong that should help towards solving that particular issue

  5. That’ll be 5 Dutch first teamers.
They’ll have to do a newcastle/holland shirt instead of the le toon one!

  7. i’ve got no problem filling the toon line up with cloggy’s, we might even see something special out of Anita too…
Perhaps this transfer window really is tricky due to the massive amounts of Sky money involved, and the impending euros… still, the good players can be sure of being in there squads, it’s just the overrated players like Cabaye who will be hitting the panic button

  11. I dontvtead too much into that tweet. Could be his way of saying to suitors: ‘pay me what I want or I stay’, or could be him saying to his club: ‘stop playing hardball with prospective clubs over the fee or I stay and you say goodbye to any dosh you were hoping for’. Means nowt at the moment.

      (Quote)

  12. Yeh Sham.
I’ll not be hitting a panic button quite yet, although it is carrying a familiar stench.
Seems too much in it now to be nothing, especially with the mysterious disappearing story on sky.
As usual, we shall see. Definitely pongs of pollock though.

  13. Wijnaldum is supposedly valued at 15 million Euros (10.6 mil pounds). That is much more in line with our budget than 15 million pounds.

I don’t know, it is probably stupid to speculate, but they leave for the US in a week. I wonder if Charnley will be going? Now that would be seriously stupid as he should be working full time on transfers.

  14. no no no
that report in the mirror clearly states enquiries have been made for widget, but that he is just one of a ‘large number’ of enquiries being made to improve their squad.
Still searching for that elusive value for money transfer. When they find one, they will make their move.
I wouldn’t go getting excited about anyone just yet.
You would have thought these so called ‘enquiries’ would have been made a lot sooner than now though.
    Same old nonsense really.

  15. Tell you what that Ed is a prolific writer. Granted its all just a rehash of whatever is milling about in the press but fook me does he have nothing else to do?! Keeps hosbteaders happy I guess. No need for them to go looking at news now lol

  16. The club are making enquiries. I’m sure we will see a week of big name signings ahead. Not long now… 😀

  17. Do you think they could ask Krul, Janmaat and De Jong what they think of their Dutch colleague?

  18. Eric – I’m sure that wouldn’t even cross the clever lads minds.
Besides, the main criteria is ‘value for money’ 😕
(might as well start the week off as we mean to go on 😛 )

  19. Luke Edwards really is a joke. How do the Telegraph let him get away with writing village rag articles in their paper!?

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/11719312/Newcastle-United-transfers-Club-close-in-on-Georginio-Wijnaldum.html

If you read his most recent piece on Ed’s blog, ok, or in the comment section here, almost sort of ok, but he has a piece in The bloody Telegraph stating that Wijnaldum missed PSVs game because of his move to us!!!! It was because he hadn’t even reported back for training yet, having played in the Dutch game before going on holiday!!! People crit. our club for speaking bollocks or just not speaking, but equally it is not surprising they can’t be arsed with some so-called journalists. What a load of ****, and he says: “Steve McClaren had been frustrated by the lack of progress made in the transfer market since his appointment last month and made his feelings clear at a board meeting last week.” I bet he knows f-ck all about it. He loves a dig at Ashley about his openness and truthfulness etc, but a bloke who reports utter bollocks can then equally not be believed when he gets on with his usual negative twist on things. It seems Mclaren is close to Carr so I am sure he is fully aware of the transfer situation and doesn’t need a f-cking board meeting to have a tantrum. I go so far with the “Ashley has made a rod for his own back” perspective, but at some point you have to wait and see, to get such tainted bollocks in a broadsheet is not justified by Ashley and the Club’s previous behavior, the press just love to stir the pot about all things Newcastle and always have. If the Club is communicating more through their own site and email etc, ok, whatever, get some stories out there about simply what the coaches and players are up to. You don’t tell fans at what stage you are in negotiations, you get on with getting the players in. And we will judge then accordingly. We never had Ferguson opening his email account to fans, and I am sure the Man. city boss is not having daily discussions with fans about why they haven’t spent any of the 350 million they have to spend.

Yes, our club should speak a bit more and it obviously should not intentionally mislead the fans and straight out lie, but what dreadful reporting. Ban the f-ckers, I say. 💡 😀

  20. It doesn’t matter how many successful dribbles Sissoko did. What matters is what he did with the ball afterwards – not a lot in IMO.

  21. See this Wijnaldum talk is getting more sensible. Early talks now instead of advanced, other clubs interested, yet to bid for him etc… Interesting Fans Forum this evening I would say but I will give you the clubs answer now to questions about transfers. “The club are working hard”

      (Quote)

  22. Chronicle saying we have held advanced talks with Wijnaldum and waiting on a decision. Meanwhile metro saying he’s been left out of PSVs pre season tour.

I reckon he’s in the bag. Too much talk around it now from multiple papers.

      (Quote)

  23. The Mirror says the club confirmed to them that they had early discussions. Then Chronicle say advanced talks waiting for the answer…

Clearly we are interested in him but how far are we? Who knows but expect we will find out this week.

Although can someone explain to me, who is he and where does he play?

  25. No idea mate, but will be writing an article early afternoon on our failings last season and I can see why we would break the bank go get him in. We need more movement and he looks like he could be the catalyst for us.

  26. If we get this dutch fella, it will only because we need to sell more season tickets… I can’t believe you all can’t see it! 😯

  27. If he comes in, I reckon De Jong will be used as a second striker – meaning we only need to sign 1 up front.

  28. I’d love us to get this guy – just what we need. I’m very wary though of all the conflicting reports. Always been the case with transfer rumours – without a photo with the shirt that’s all they are – rumours.

  29. Sham, I can see de Jong in middle and Wijnaldum on right of a 4-2-3-1 myself, with Austin up front hopefully

  30. Shamrock – thanks for the u tube link there 🙄
Have to say mind there is some shockingly poor defending and goal keeping which he wont get so much of in the EPL.
But he does seem to be well aware of the offside rule which will make a pleasant change. 😉
Looks canny mind, and always looking to get a shot away.
    Just what we need.

  37. LS: Luke Edwards has an ax to grind with NUFC. I think they specifically banned him – not along with the other media – specifically him and The Telegraph. He obviously still has a few contacts in the NE and I don’t think they like Ashley and his cronies either, so he does break a few stories. He is from The Chronicle School of Journalism so his writing isn’t that good. Much better than “cut and paste” Ryder though, who basically takes Alan Oliver’s writing template from 30 years ago and puts a few new names in it. And of course, he throws in a few polls and “5 things we learned” now so he has his finger on the pulse of this new social media thingy.

Blijven voetballen is mijn enige droom.”
