  1. So, I was in Munich many years ago and met a few of the Oz. I asked what are you taking back to Australia from your trip. A beer belly, mate, is what one said.

  2. Things to like about Australia:

    Shane Warne
    Brett Lee
    Don Bradman
    The Great Barrier Reef
The steeng roy that keeled Steve Irween
    Cricket

Things to not like about Australia:

    Aussie Rules
“The Crocodile Hunter” and his annoying daughter Bindy. Oh, and his annoying America wife.

  3. So, the Chicago Cubs play 162 games a year. That’s 81 away games. Imagine!!! Your wife would kill you.

Luckily, they only reach the playoffs every 10 years or so.

  4. Do you know how Roger Daltrey described Pete Townsend when he first met him – A Nose on a Stick.

  5. Mate of mine, lives North Shields way. Used to be Ents of. at Leeds Uni early 70s and booked the WHO for what became the live at Leeds Album. Few stories there.

  6. Prem: have you seen it? Live at Leeds was up on Youtube until about a year ago. They took it down for some reason.

      (Quote)

  7. Here’s something for you Prem: Most bands don’t make a decent record after their 3rd album. The Beatles were an exception and The Who as well. The Rolling Stones haven’t had a good song since Start Me Up. The Stone Roses only made one good one and The Beach Boys made none, even though they are praised to high heavens for Pet Sounds.

  8. Depends how you look at it. Many bands have grown and developed their style, as have many musicians. I think it depends upon their audience. The more “song” or pop structured bands probably true, but the more “music” or say Jazz oriented bands seem to keep going. Interesting anyway. Define decent..

      (Quote)

  9. @Eric. The Floyd smash that exception 😆 ACDC, Oasis, Queen also had decent tracks after their 3rd album…

  10. Sissy’s gone then – hopefully we can a) spin this out and get Liverpool involved in a bidding war and b) replace, even with Wij in…

  11. so the buying has stopped and the selling begins.
But wait, its not the dead-wood we are offloading, oh no.
Big Mikey wants some of his money back.
    So bye bye Sissoko,
    Kerching kerching.
    Thankyou very much.

  12. I know you are right Prem about music. I always make blanket statements like when I say BrisV is a superhero, with “BrisV” emblazened on his 70 year old grey chest. I am right about Pet Sounds though – the most over-rated album ever.

  13. I’d rather keep Sissoko, but £18m is getting into the realms of silly money for him. I reckon he could be replaced for around half of that and the rest would go towards the CB & CF we still need.

  14. Mark: I almost said that Pink Floyd were the exception. And which one is Pink?

And Paul Simon as well. I am an idiot 🙂

  15. I suppose though there always comes a point when an offer for a player is just too good to turn down.
    😕

  16. Boots – he hasn’t been sold. The papers are reporting Spurs interest – as far as we know no bids have been accepted.

      (Quote)

  17. Live at Leeds was the first album I ever bought.

Agree with last 4 Words of Eric @ 173.

  18. I am shaking my head here – 18 million for Sissoko. Have they seen him play? Hows about 4 million for Vuckic and Timmy-the-Hoof for 20? They can have Willo for a bag of crisps and a Frey Bentos pie. Actually they can have him for just the crisps.

      (Quote)

  19. BrisV: I am not the most serious person to come on here. I indulge The Troysta FFS.

      (Quote)

  20. He is inconsistent and also his heart is not in it at all for us, so I’d let him go for £12m plus. If they are talking £18m then snap their hands off! We can easily afford to offload him and then get a proper right winger in instead. We have lots of options in the middle.

      (Quote)

  21. Eric I like the midnight tangents. It’s Rodzillaesque. Now stop drinking and go to bed!

      (Quote)

  22. would tell them to jog on with there 18 million bid meself hes worth more than that in todays transfer market

      (Quote)

  23. actually Eric, as sad as it may sound, apart from a few Beatles tracks, I was never a great fan.. I prefered ELO 😀 & Jeff Lynne was a better artist then any of the Beatles 😀

      (Quote)

  24. Shamrock: I am not “esque” about anybody. I am not even trying to wind up the Oz either. They just seem to have a bit of a snide outlook.

      (Quote)

  25. @Sham 183

agree with that, we could have a really good team with 18mil, plus we have abeid, Kemen, Tiote, Anita, Wijnaldum . I still wouldnt mind seeing a playmaker in the middle.

      (Quote)

  26. I agree, that £18M is a good deal, but ONLY if that is re-invested in players we need.
Just selling to recoup some cash is not good enough.
    Time will tell.

      (Quote)

  27. make me laugh you guys do wanting to grab the first offer that comes in use ya brains

      (Quote)

  28. Midnight tangents is very Rodzillaesque I’m afraid. Especially links to music articles and videos 😆

      (Quote)

  29. and some of you guys have the front to call fatboy a money graber 😆 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  30. TAE Sissy is overrated, inconsistent and clearly not interested in playing for us. Get rid for £15m to £18m all day long.

      (Quote)

  31. @Eric. Anita can’t deliver a killer ball from 5 yrs out, 😛 remember his pass v West Ham.

No, I reckon in the mold of Cabaye is what we need

Abeid is the closest we have to a playmaker or Marv

      (Quote)

  32. Would anyone take Townsend as part of the deal?. I personally think there’s better options but I know the club have been sniffing round him for a while now.

      (Quote)

  33. And Shamrock: I won’t post any more music videos if you tell me not to.

Me mam tells me that sometimes I think I am funny and I am really not that funny. She says that Graeme it is sometimes better to keep your mouth shut 🙂

      (Quote)

  34. Eric you crack on mate. Think you have the wrong end of the stick. I love it! I’m Rodzillas biggest fan!

      (Quote)

  35. BEARDSLEYS BOOTS
yeah i do think we will get a lot better offer than that. 😉

      (Quote)

  36. And he was in the Travelling Wilburys with George Harrison as well. And Tom Petty who also was a Beatles rip-off.

      (Quote)

  37. Better to keep yr mouth shut and have others think you a fool than open it and prove it

      (Quote)

  38. why is there a screaming rush to get rid of Sissoko… we need competition for starting places in the squad… if we sell him and don’t recruit a decent starter, we will rely on our shitty fringe players too much if we get injuries..

      (Quote)

  39. Sharpy Townsend plus 10 sounds about right and yes I would. We need genuine width down the right other than Obertan . If we had Townsend and Cabella fighting for the shirt it might bring out the best in them.

      (Quote)

  40. So, if we get 18 mil for Sissoko we can spend it on somebody better??? Charlie Austin?

      (Quote)

  41. sissiko wants to be playing for france next summer so he will be puting his back into this season he will also be worth a lot more next summer when the mew tv deal comes up,and the fee you pay for a player gos into orbit

      (Quote)

  42. Aussie as soon as a bigger club shows genuine interest Sissy will be selling himself in the press and unsettling the team spirit McC is building. His head and heart is not with us so I’d rather get rid than flog a dead horse and risk letting the rot set in amongst the rest of the squad. We’ll see, might come to nothing but I doubt it.

      (Quote)

  43. I’d keep Sissoko if he wants to stay and fight for us, my gut-feeling is he was always going to fund some buys.

      (Quote)

  44. Eric the other one from me dad was. “If a change is as good as a rest, why don’t you do some bloody work for a change”.

      (Quote)

  45. Sorry but why would anybody pay £18m for Sissoko? I really doubt his would happen. Would also be disappointed if it did. We would just be going back to square one with the squad. We need competition for places.

      (Quote)

  46. maybe now Sissoko can be convinced he could have Champions lge footy, with us!…it may take a few years first 😀

      (Quote)

  47. TAE: everybody and his brother and Leicester know the new TV money is coming in next year. If we haven’t figured out a new budget by now we must be either stupid, or Joe Kinnear (same thing).

18 mil for Sissoko is a gift from the Gods.

      (Quote)

  48. TAE everybody will be worth more next summer going by that logic. Cabaye went for £20m ish and was much more influential and productive than Sissy so yeah I’d say £18m is a decent and fair price. Direct goals or assists in PL for Toon: 15 in 69 for Sissy. 30 in 79 for Cabaye. Furthermore Cabaye was much better defensively. £18m is definitely a good price.
