Post Match Report – Swansea V Newcastle

Mighty Swans crush feeble Maglies…
Newcastle suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Swansea City. A goal in each half put Swansea firmly in the driving seat and in truth they were the better team on the day.

It took just 9 minutes for Swansea to register their first goal, the Newcastle defence split wide open by a pass from Jonjo Shelvey to the on rushing Bafetimi Gomis who rounded Tim Krul to slot home into the empty net.

Daryl Janmaat had a torrid afternoon trying to shackle Jefferson Montero and was run ragged by him leading to an early yellow card for Janmaat and the inevitable second yellow and red soon appeared on 41minutes after Janmaat decided to pull Montero back. Down to ten men, Newcastle now faced an even bigger uphill battle. Sad thing is we were starting to come into the game a little bit before the red card.

Second half saw Sissoko missing due to a suspected groin injury further disrupting our shape and Mbemba slot in at Right back covering for the red carded Janmaat. Steven Taylor filled the now vacant Centre back slot.

Swansea continued to push forward with great effect, and Gylfi Sigurosson hit the woodwork but our blushes were spared when the ball bounced back down on the line but not over it, thank god for hawkeye.

But our luck didn’t last long when on 52 mins Andre Ayew out jumped Colocini to head home Swanseas 2nd of the day. Andre Ayew also headed just wide a little later too and it really should of been 3.0.

Rolando Aarons came on and the ineffective Papiss Cisse went off, who in fairness had had zero service to him all day, not helped by the red card to Janmaat.

Aleksander Mitrovic came on for Newcastle and within minutes got himself tackled, earned a free kick, a talking to from the ref, a yellow card and a confrontation with neil Taylor . I read someone said he looks more Nitro than Mitro, well he’s certainly a handfull alright.

Anyway onwards we go, it’s only Man United next, chins up lads n lasses.

  1. I don’t think we’ve anything to worry about on Saturday. Not with our defence against Man Utd’s attack.

  2. sHARPLES; i DON#T know he’s going to be a bad player mate. But h has received a lot of criticism in his home country, so I’m questioning whether he will be a good signing.
As I tried to point out at 375 we really have wasted enough money on average players, what makes you so confident that he will be a succes ?

  3. Munich – I don’t know that he will be, I’m just prepared to give him a chance and not be swayed by critics in France. But I accept there are no guarantees. You look at Man Utd and the brought Di Maria in – it didn’t work so they got rid and brought Depay in – but there are still no guarantees there either. Time will tell one way or another, but I won’t right him off as another average Frenchie before he has even stepped foot on Geordie soil.

  4. MM: We got money back though. Andy “made more of glass than Steven Taylor” Carroll. Jose Enrique. Johan Cabaye. Debuchy.

Fat Man didn’t really spend any money until this year – we spent what we got back in which was the problem.

  5. Munich –

“He is an attacking midfielder playing predominantly on the left-hand side and was named by The Observer as one of the ten most promising young players in Europe back in 2014.
Thauvin was one of the most dangerous offensive players in Ligue 1 last season. He created 53 chances for Marseille last term, four of which were assists. His producing of 49 key passes for the side was the ninth highest total recorded by anyone in the French league last season. He was also the youngest player in that top 10 list”.

And last season he was player out on the right – even though he’s all left foot.
All I’m saying is that the kid clearly has potential. No guarantees he will fill it with us, but clear evidence as to why they think he’s worth going for.

  6. God knows if he will be any better than Cabella but can he be any worse? He’s a left footed winger where as Cabella was a number 10. Just hope he doesn’t get in the way if Aarons progress.

  7. Stu – that’s 5 in 3 for Armaz now 😯 haven’t seen tonight’s goal but the other 4 have been really classy finishes. This loan move could be a major step in his progress.

As for Aarons, I think it’s only fitness that will get in the way of his progress mate. If he can stay fit over the next few seasons at least, then I see him establishing himself as a senior squad regular for sure. He has the talent. McClaren played him left back in pre season – apparently that was to raise his awareness of defensive duties too, which suggests to me that Mc has a development plan worked out for him.

  8. Kim sorry been at Lego land today with the nippers. If you get a chance in next hour then send it through, otherwise it’ll be early evening tomorrow unless Dave or Toonsy are about…

  9. Sham – alright mate, how was Legoland. Would you recommend it? We’re thinking of taking our lad (as I can’t do another trip to Thomasland!!)

  10. Jefferson Montero is only 70kg 😆 didn’t see him getting pushed about much off 6’2 mbemba 😛

Carr has supplied loads of duds but we either try cabella in his proper creative position or realise he may not be good enough and accept its a decent deal if it does pay off. We won’t know until we take the risk

  11. Yes thanks it was Kim, exhausting though! The youngest was terrified of most of it but loved it once she sent on! The 4d Cinema is pretty cool too. The kids were trying to grab hold of the characters haha.

  12. Sham , Up to you mate, tonight might be best cause there will probs be a new one from Toonsy tomorrow if we sign Thauvin I expect. Mines just a random thing.

  13. Lews off on a boat trip tomorrow, the one day this week it’s due to **** down 👿 gonna be dry on Thursday and been lush last two days 🙄 Typical.

  14. Just checking on the boxing bout between Stuart & Aussie. Latest is Aussie took a standing 8 and when the ref asked how many fingers he was holding up, he replied TV show, 3 words, first word 8 syllables.

The ref stopped the bout fearing heavy concussion. Poor Aussie is spending the night on his hammock in the company of his pet raccoon.

Let’s hope he back tomorrow fighting fit. 😆

  15. Troy, Troy, Troy!
    Belzebub appears! 😯
I’m an advocate of avocado concentrate, so couldn’t possibly denounce fictitious fruits, whether white or black market. I’m not racist. Considerably.

  16. Got a reet deal at Tynemooth Metrer station last weekend llike.
Kitchen Slave: 3 poond an ooa.
