And with it being Halloween Steve McClaren will be hoping that he isn’t left looking like a pumpkin at the full time whistle!
The last time we played a game on the day of Halloween was in fact against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium with Newcastle running out 3-1 victims courtesy of a Demba Ba treble. A repeat of that will be most welcome as the home side look to start putting some points on the board and some daylight between us and the bottom of the table.
The match preview went up earlier and can be viewed here. It details all the stuff you need to know ahead of the game including injuries, suspension, transfers out, some stats and facts and a look at the history of the fixture.
We’re also still running our competition where you have guess where a goal is going to be scored. It’s now open to a second round of letter picks just in case there is an irregularity with the first selections! You can view that here.
Team news I will endeavour to deliver as soon as it becomes available but there is always inevitably someone who beats me to it and posts it in the ‘comments’ section below so have a look there shortly after 2pm and you’ll find it. The same is also true of internet streams.
I touched on this in the match preview but again I firmly believe we’re playing much better football. We now need to start picking up the points to match it. Hopefully starting today.
Howay the lads!

praying for a win and not a Halloween horror show today, HWTL

Oh dear Chelsea, Pool winning 1.2
kimtoon(Quote)
You can see why Jose gets ****** off, Lucas should have got a 2nd yellow and now they are 2-1 down. Yet another example of **** poor refereeing.
Sharpy17(Quote)
No surprises with our team today, just hope we start like we did last weekend, only this time convert some of those chances.
Aarons can’t be fit – Gouffran making the bench ahead of him?!. If he is fit, he can’t have much of a future with us if he can’t even make the bench.
Sharpy17(Quote)
Sharpy, yeah the inconsistency is infuriating.
kimtoon(Quote)
1.3 game over, can see jose getting the boot tonight.
kimtoon(Quote)
Maybe he can take over at Toon if Steve keeps losing, he has a soft spot for Newcastle apparently. 😉
kimtoon(Quote)
Kim – Chelsea seem to totally lack any kind of urgency. Previously they have been so high tempo and direct in their play, but they just seem to be strolling round today. I also think that his 4-2-3-1 is offering Costa no suppose at all and clearly doesn’t work if the likes of Cesc, Matic and Hazard aren’t playing at the top of their game.
Really like that 4-3-2-1 formation and Coutinho is some player!!
Sharpy17(Quote)
Sharpy, something must have gone on over the summer break, the players don’t seem to give a toss.
kimtoon(Quote)
Always worried with Crouch as sucker punch equaliser. 😐
AngelOfDeath(Quote)
Kim – no way I’d sack Jose, but his arrogance will be his downfall coz they aren’t doing it and he’s not really changing anything. Yeah he dropped Cesc & Matic today, but he went the same formation and just put Mikel and Ramires in their place. They can’t score and Costa can’t buy a goal, yet he’s still playing him as a lone CF. Remy is probably their best chance of a goal and isn’t getting used. He needs to change things IMO.

First game I’ve been to since WBA last season.

One thing I’ve noticed is that it’s without doubt a lot of people have no interest in NUFC at the minute. Loads of school kids who have obviously had free tickets.

Toonsy , yeah it was great but started freezing too much, new one @22 is good if you need it.
kimtoon(Quote)
Really could go either way this one, but I worry if we concede first our heads may drop. If we get the first I see us winning it.
Sharpy17(Quote)
How the hell has that stayed out
kimtoon(Quote)
Hells bloody bells man!! Can we just cop a break and have these chances go in or what!!!!!
Sharpy17(Quote)
I do like how we are playing under McClaren like. I know it’s a results business & we have to start winning. But I am enjoying watching us now & wasn’t able to say that for a long time.
Sharpy17(Quote)
Playing quite well but Sissoko seems to have returned to being 80% gash. Gives the ball away carelessly so often by overruning it or with a poor pass when a decent chance is on.
paulos(Quote)
And perez is absolute quality.
paulos(Quote)
Same old, same fucking old! Not to worry, I’m sure people are happy with the performance though.
Stuart79(Quote)
pretty evenly balanced half tbf.
kimtoon(Quote)
Can we secured 2goals before crouch come on~
My guts feeling he is always the threat. 😡
AngelOfDeath(Quote)
Nice try Perez

kimtoon(Quote)
We are defo shading this and some dogged defending by stoke
kimtoon(Quote)
Christ Perez is brilliant, bloody Butland
kimtoon(Quote)
Could of had 2 in last 5 mins if not for Butland
kimtoon(Quote)
Sissoko plays some terribly lazy passes at times and bloody crouch is coming on now
kimtoon(Quote)
Maybe time to take Mitrovic off :-S
Toonsy(Quote)
Calm down Mitro lad
kimtoon(Quote)
What the hell does Shawcross think he’s doing
kimtoon(Quote)
Ding dong on
kimtoon(Quote)

kimtoon(Quote)
Mitro is causing so many problems for them
kimtoon(Quote)
Would be really cruel if we end up losing this, Butland has been outstanding for them
kimtoon(Quote)
Big lad that Lascelles mind.
Butland AGAIN 😯 It’s the Bristol air ya know that makes him so good
kimtoon(Quote)
What an absolute load of rubbish
Munich Mag(Quote)
Wow mitro gets booked for nothing and stoke kick lumps out of us!
Munich Mag(Quote)
Get off time waster you should of seen a red anyway 👿
kimtoon(Quote)
Two minging teams
Munich Mag(Quote)
Bloody Stoke wasting time, second best today
kimtoon(Quote)
Is there anybody who still seriously thinks we’re improving? It’s hideous
Stuart79(Quote)
Would of took 3 if not for Butland he was MOTM today. We played well but came up against an in form Goalie.
kimtoon(Quote)
7 points from 11 games. What’s the plan McLaren?
GeordieTwo(Quote)
Hideous? Toon 0 Butland 0
georgio(Quote)
Can just picture Ashley cringing. He’s got a huge decision coming up. What to do next when you are a football fool like him?
GeordieTwo(Quote)
Stuart, If you honestly cannot see we would of won today but for jack then I give up mate. Your hatred for SM is getting the better of you now.
kimtoon(Quote)
Stuart agree completely de jong Janmaat sissoko tiote mitrovic dummet collocini Anita wijnaldum all lack fitness and intensity for the Premier league. Absolutely shocking
Munich Mag(Quote)
It’s frustrating as we have had no luck either this season.
kimtoon(Quote)
Week after week people on here saying we played well but just didn’t get the 3 points. What does that add up to? A failed team in the relegation hunt with clueless management.
GeordieTwo(Quote)
MM, most commentators and pundits have been singing our praises all week and today. What can you do when the goal keeper is playing a blinder, we had plenty on target today, it’s not like we created nothing.
kimtoon(Quote)
Results go against us tomorrow we could be bottom. 👿
Troy Stavers(Quote)
Wijnaldum? Lacking?
The guy who scored four in a game?
Fucking hell it’s no wonder I rarely post on here 😆
Pissed we couldn’t score but still created chances and looked solid at the back for a change. But land saved them.
toonsy(Quote)
Did De jong get a touch today? Waste of space.
georgio(Quote)
What happens when we get back to playing good teams. After Bournemouth it’s Leicester, Palace, Liverpool and Spurs. How many points for us from those 4? Possibly 1 or 2? Even if we beat Bournemouth we would have 11 or 12 points from 16 games. Totally hopeless given our squad and management.
GeordieTwo(Quote)
bunch of kickers they are 🙄
TOONARMYELITE(Quote)
that Butland motm for them defo 😐
TOONARMYELITE(Quote)
One win from 11 matches. All the rest is excuse making. Nothing more needs to be said. We’re relegation bound bar a miracle in January.
GeordieTwo(Quote)
G2, Yes it does, but what can you do to alter a **** shitty start to the season in regards tough teams to play. Red cards that shouldn’t of been given, individual players having brain farts. What is Steve supposed to do about that? Incompetent refs who send off when they shouldn’t and leave players on when they shouldn’t 🙄 I’m sure you’ll agree if not for that red last week we would be clear of the Scum now if you’re honest.
kimtoon(Quote)
We are very poor. Improving? Definitely. But it’s not hard to improve when the team were horrific at the start of the season.
Playing at home to Stoke. We have to get 3 points from these games.
What I see is a side with a big bustling striker that would thrive on crosses from a winger who gets to the by line.
We don’t have one on either wing.
Is it not obvious to the manager?
Troy Stavers(Quote)
remember when krul had a blinder at spurs and got us a point.
the same has just happend here to stoke.
hitman(Quote)
Hitman – Exactly.
