  1. Welcome to the mad house Andy and Nick 😆 I hope you’s can follow on and build the Blog as it has been one of the best going but I think it has even bigger potential, given time and effort.
Andy the Magpie ? have I seen that name on here before ❓

  2. Thank you Big Dave and Ice Dog!

Haha no, there must be another Magpie with the same name flying about Tyneside 😉

  3. Welcome chaps. Facebook? Erm no thanks! New forum? I like the chat facility as it is. If you mean a forum with loads of sub topics then I don’t think it will work as it isolates people and does not flow very well. So if I say Malaga does that mean anything to do? That was my hunch yesterday – you have a previous footy site somewhere?

  4. Welcome Andy and Nick or Nandy for short… 🙂

I wonder if this new era will coincide with a new era of success on the field??

You have all my support along with everyone else’s I’m sure.

  5. @SHAMROCK – aaah yes I’m also a keen La Liga writer and started up a site on it a few years back!

Plus I appreciate your feedback on Facebook and the forum! Still gathering together our thoughts at this stage.

  6. Yeah thought so! Well the first thing this site needs is to somehow build up the pool of regular writers. I have been trying to do 1 every 2 days for a while now but what would be a good aim is to have 1 good quality article published every morning – ideally a different writer for every day of the week to keep things fresh and inclusive. If you can keep up the volume but keep the quality high, you will batter the competition. Ed has lots of readers, but he states opinion as fact, makes misleading headlines and just parrots rubbish from the papers. It lacks original content. I think if you can hit 1 or 2 articles every day – but keep the quality and originality – you will be onto a winner.

Just my take on it anyway.

  7. Welcome. I look forward with my usual optimism . What attracted me to this site was that compared to others out there the debate herewas generally positive, varied, intelligent and respectful. Recently the number of contributors, both of articles and commentators has dropped and positivity has been in short supply. I look forward to seeing how you go. Good luck.

  8. Positivity and NUFC do not go hand in hand unfortunately, Prem. Not in the last few years anyway. Blame NUFC for the lack of positivity on here, Prem.

Or maybe go to a Leicester site – reckon they’ll be over flowing with positivity at the moment.

  9. What about a predictor competition? Weekly predictions of the results. Winner takes all? Whatever all is?

      (Quote)

  10. Best of luck chaps. I hope you can build on what mysekf and others started and make this place extra special. It has huge potential 🙂

  11. Welcome lads.

A results predication every week would be good.. £3 a go or something or is that too stingy 😆

Andy.. did you use to work at Sage?

      (Quote)

  12. Seriously, welcome and I hope you write a few good articles to get started. I am sure you have them in the pipeline. A win at Stoke would be much appreciated as well if you can accomplish that.

  13. I think we should seriously set up a predictor comp. As Gashley said couple of quid or something. Set up a points based scoring system and whoever wins takes the cash.

  14. Welcome to the blog

After finishing reading the last thread, Ice, please write a thread about your playing days, would be brilliant to read

i hope your gonna be writing more often than the previous owner has of late.

to be fair i always enjoyed reading his write-ups along with the 500+ he wrote for worky.

    all the best toonsy.

  17. SIMON@ 22 I will give some thought but writing isn’t my cup of tea I had a secretary doing my writing for me for twenty odd years so sometimes my spelling is off,but admit I do have some funny stories

      (Quote)

  18. Ice don’t worry about spelling. I usually proof read stuff, correct and generally make submitted threads look prettier anyway – so if you do decide to write something, just let me know and I’ll help polish it up before publishing 🙂

Andy and Nicky – are you going to be hands on owners that get involved in joining the craic on a regular basis? Been a bit quiet since your intro! I’m hoping you’ll be writing a fair number of good threads too?

  19. Welcome lads – and good luck with the blog. It’s not so bad when you get to know everyone….

I’ve always preferred forums to blogs, but I’m not quite sure if we get the right amount of traffic from the regulars to make it worthwhile… but it would allow those who love flirting with each other to just keep it in a nice and tidy area which everyone could ignore.

Happy to offer my services to write the odd article if you’re looking for contributions, although I can see Shamrock has just posted and I think I promised him one a few days/weeks/months ago 😳

      (Quote)

  20. And I agree with everyone else Ice, come on lad, we need something positive to take our mind of NUFC! 😆

      (Quote)

  21. Yes, c’mon Icedog it would be a great change of pace on here although I am still hoping for a pickup in the next few games to lift everyone’s spirits.

    Now, about Paul Merson’s head…

      (Quote)

  22. If you strung together every plastic water bottle thrown out in the last year they would wrap around three quarters of Paul Merson’s head.

      (Quote)

  23. There are only two man-made structures that can be seen from space – The Great Wall of China, and… Paul Merson’s head.

      (Quote)

  24. If there were only 2 people left on earth besides yourself and you only had one bullet who would you shoot? Paul Merson or Jamie Carragher? Another trick question, you would shoot yourself.

      (Quote)

  25. What’s the difference between Paul Merson’s head and AMF? Paul Merson’s head is a giant pumpkin like thing but at least it talks about football now and again.

      (Quote)

  26. Eric@34 The Great Wall of China can’t be seen from space. Another myth that has become ‘fact’. There are many of them around.

      (Quote)

  27. When are you going to talk about football, Eric, instead of just slagging off some guy who can’t reply to your taunts?

      (Quote)

  28. Vegas, I choose not to reply mate. 😉
Are the Roar going to be able bounce back this week after that spanking!

      (Quote)

  29. I doubt it. They are ripe for a few more spankings yet. they’ve concede 4, 4 and 6 in the last 4 or 5 games. And now they have Adelaide who are unbeaten for, what is it, 12 games? It’s amazing that Brisbane are still 2nd – that’s about 5 places above where I expected them to be.

It’s been an interesting competition this year. If I were a betting man I’d go for Perth or Adelaide for premiers. Perth are looking very dangerous these days.

  30. Yeah, Glory has finally got their team balance right. The new defensive mid and centre back (1st half header goal against your lot) have set the team up well..
The Roar still have a strong attacking threat..McLaren can frustrate.. misses some sitters but always gets in great positions. Interesting run into the finals tho!

      (Quote)

  31. Just settling in to watch your Glory boys v WSW now. A good win for them and Brisbane go top … until tomorrow.

      (Quote)

  32. Btw, you have one of my players in the team, Chris Harold was in the under 15s I coached at the local high school a while ago.

      (Quote)

  33. Nice one… he has come good of late… very frustrating player tho …. misses too many chances for me.. he is on a scoring run now but in truth he should have twice as many given some of the chances he has had..

      (Quote)

  34. If you mean Paul Merson , Bris V, he is on TV on Saturday and is an ex-**** player and I am farting around that his head seems to have swelled as big as a pumpkin. He also doesn’t seem to like NUFC that much.

      (Quote)

  35. That’s very articulate of you, Eric.

Oz: I had Harold and Ben Halloran in the same team. Both were a year younger than the rest of them and were both far better than anybody else on the field. They went on to play at a higher level before the season finished. Halloran now plays in Germany, 2nd division I think.

      (Quote)

  36. I have heard of Halloran.. good job…
That Harold opportunity about 5 minutes ago is exactly what I was talking about earlier..

      (Quote)

  37. That is like Troy speak but you never talk about NUFC you Aussies, you just gripe. Troy is correct, for once.

      (Quote)

  38. Seriously, say something about NUFC. Say something that is a sentence about NUFC, Something that might mean something about the next game, or a player or something FFS?

      (Quote)

  39. A pretty mediocre first half. Castro hasn’t been as influential as he has been in the last few games.

      (Quote)

  40. Agreed, we haven’t been getting the ball to him.. both teams look like they are playing not to lose.. after the 1st half last week..this is dullsville

      (Quote)

  41. Eric – there’s really nowt to say, or at least nowt worth saying.
great club going down the *******.
    sad days
However I am looking forwards to the new Admins spin on things.
Welcome and good luck with that.

  42. puzzled…

not sure if eric is being a wind-up merchant or he’s just winding himself up.

    hmmm.

      (Quote)

  43. I was criticising Merson and his giant blubber head because he is always against NUFC if you Aussies didn’t get why.

      (Quote)

  44. Ha ha
talk of donating money, takes us full circle to the ‘worky’ blog days.
    dodgy ground, tread carefully guys

      (Quote)

  45. Roy C: I just get annoyed when big giant heads like Merson just decide they will give NUFC a lot of stick.

  46. eric
