Steve McClaren has left the building!

Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren has officially been relieved of his duties as manager according to the club’s official website this morning.

With rumours floating around regarding McClaren’s imminent departure yesterday, it appears the club has finally put the ‘Wally with the brolly’ out of his misery by sacking him.

As per our story yesterday, Rafa Benitez is expected to take over his post at St James’ Park with just 10 Premier League games remaining to save our season. The Spaniard is reportedly in Tyneside as we speak thrashing out a deal with the powers that be at Newcastle with the club hoping to ‘present’ him as the new Magpies boss tomorrow.

Lee Charnley, Newcastle’s managing director said on nufc.co.uk: “I would like to thank Steve personally for his services to Newcastle United. He is a man of integrity and class and he has conducted himself with great dignity during this difficult time.

“Steve worked tirelessly to try and bring success to Newcastle United. He has the utmost respect of all the players, staff and management and he leaves with our very best wishes and sincere thanks.

  2. Shelvey on Rafa
““He’s a very tactical man. He knows what he wants you to do and he gets his point across very clearly, and he sets up teams for us not to get beat but on the other hand, he wants you to go and play as well.

“It suits us down to the ground I think, so I’m sure he’ll be getting us to do that straight away and the quicker we do it, the easier it’ll be for us and the fans. Fingers crossed we can implement his gameplan on Monday night and kick on from there

  4. I must have misunderstood all along that Lee Clark was sacked by Huddersfield, Birmingham and Blackpool. It took a mind like Troy’s to see there were mitigating circumstances to explain his sacking from second rate no-hopers.

  5. City just have not looked like scoring all game. If Norwich go and sneak a goal I will not be happy one bit!

  6. Man City are playing dogshit today man!!.

If City don’t win today I reckon it’s going to spur Leicester on to try and widen the gap from them.

City don’t even look like they are bothered.

I can see my worst nightmare ever. We get relegated and we have to get Clarkie in! 😯
I woud hate that to happen even to rub the ever wrong GashleyS nose in it.
I laugh at Aussie. He never makes a prediction so he’s never right or wrong but jumps on others for making judgements. 😀
Well done Aussie for being neither right or wrong but thinks heS right and never wrong. 😛

  15. Wow. Right?

A succession of ok PL managers at the very best and we finally have another manager brimming with ambition and with a track record of winning things.

Anyone with any negative thoughts towards this change needs to go take a swim in Whitley Bay…
