A welcomed piece of news has filtered through to Tyneside this morning with Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat reportedly back in contention for Saturday’s crucial match-up against Norwich City.
After going off injured during the Magpies’ 1-1 draw with Sunderland in the Tyne & Wear derby last month, it was uncertain whether the Dutch international would be back fit to face the Canaries at the weekend.
But the Shields Gazette have this morning reported that he is set to feature at Carrow Road tomorrow in United’s do or die match-up.
26-year-old Janmaat was part of the side that blew away Alex Neil’s Norwich City 6-2 earlier on in the season and with further injury woes in the form of goalkeeper Rob Elliot who was stretchered off during his Republic Ireland side’s 2-2 draw with Slovakia during the week, the news that Newcastle’s Dutch right back is back in the fray will come as a welcomed piece of solace for Magpies fans.
