  1. Tony Pulis is exactly what we need for the Championship. He’ll be better equipped than Rafa.

More of the same from Fatty after that…

  2. Said when Rafa was signed that it doesn’t matter how much you polish a turd, it is still a turd and was shot down for being negative. 😯 😆
Useless bunch of gutless c*nts that should be ashamed every time they pick up their pay checks !
Well and truly over it… if they can’t be bothered than neither can I…

  3. It really was quite unbelievable yesterday’s performance. Their first goal was embarrassing. Everybody just watched him. Southampton weren’t that good either to be honest. It was just us who were absolutely abysmal.

Sad thing is that there was an inevitability about it. The crowd were subdued and so were the players.

    Just a mess.

On Pulis, it will take somebody like him to sort it out.

  4. Rafa has tried experience and it failed. Now it is time to drop some of the slackers. It has to be time to give Saivet and Aarons a go as they can’t possibly do any worse. Will we have any fullbacks? Please don’t put Colback there, he had a ‘mare against the Mackems.

For the first goal. I have seen Taylor do that back peddle move quite a few times now. On this occasion he was showing Long the inside which gave him a clear shot at goal. He was protecting the outside which would have sent Long away from goal. Which defenders manual is that in?

  5. Oh, and Darlow should have been sent off which would have left us with a 19 year old kid for 3 games.

  6. 3 of our players will definitely be off in the summer – Sissoko, Wijnaldum and Janmaat. If Rafa keeps playing them it will decrease their transfer value. Better to bench them and have others buy on (undeserved) reputation. I am half serious here because none of these players have had a decent game that I can remember this year.

  7. Had to share the bar with Chelsea fans. I must say they have the worst songs in the premier league. I would mention what they were but they were instantly forgetable. There was one about John Terry that was utter crap and he wasn’t even playing.

      (Quote)

  8. ERIC that was a hard day for you mate, watching that crap and then to put up with Chelsea fans,I find most ****ney fans chants/songs are bloody terrible, feel sorry for you
The youngest player on the pitch saying that most of the toon players have no heart for the game/club,glad he had the guts to come out and tell the shameless guts what he thinks of them

  9. Does anybody actually watch Soccer Saturday? From what I have seen it is a bunch of ****heads like Thommo and Dowie yelling at monitors about games you don’t care about. I don’t see its appeal. Sky should go back to their usual formula of employing a few cute chicks to wear tight tops (Murdoch does the same here on his Fox Sports Channel). I would probably boycott it for calling it soccer in England never mind having to look at Merse’s giant balloon head.

  10. The numbers are dwindling in Chicago. There were 20 for The Mackem game. Yesterday there were 5. The 3 founders of Chicago Toon Army, two of whom left after an hour, me and a bloke who drives 20 miles every weekend to attend and he doesn’t even drink.

Feel sorry for my son he’s coming over from Malta for the Swansea game wants to take me his Mrs and one month old son he’s bought tickets for the “posh” end he’s still a glutton for punishment

  12. There is a silver lining from yesterday. Any thoughts of giving Steven Taylor a new contract must have been put to rest.

  13. ERIC you cannot give a guy that plays four or five games a year a new contract even though he’s sackless when he’s fit the odd time

  16. We keep losing but we keep getting reprieves. Rafa has to see that it is not always about experience. Sometimes heart and playing for the club you are at is more important. Jonas showed that last year even though he had no chance of a new contract.

      (Quote)

  17. I’m still clinging to the hope that Rafa will stay on. I heard we’d signed a 16 year old Spanish kid last week. Anyone else catch that?

We can technically still stay up. I never expected anything from yesterday when I looked at all the fixtures. Mind you that was an absolutely dreadful performance. De Jong, Sissoko and Gini weren’t even trying. Unforgivable!!!!

      (Quote)

  18. GEORGIO aye I made on comment on the Spanish 16yr old signing the other day, don’t know if it was a Rafa signing or a Carr job

  19. Well that was enjoyable, another couple of goals in the against column for Scum and nil points 👿 Well done Leicester hard won win.

  20. KIM well I thought once the first goal went in scum players did “a” toon and threw the towel in,imo

      (Quote)

  21. That’s the thing when you’re in a relegation scrap. Other teams don’t win too many either so there’s always a reprieve. It’s the ones who take them stay up.

If we beat Swansea and Norwich and Sunderland draw the. That’s a perfect weekend for us. A win might give everyone more confidence too! Ya never know!

      (Quote)

  22. But I’m worried from what I saw yesterday. It really was a shambles. They really looked genuinely like they didn’t give two hoots!

      (Quote)

  23. STUART I really think if any of the players don’t give 100% against Swansea the crowd will give them stick big time,I’ll be there with my son and we will quickly Cotton on and we will let them know

  24. The Chronicle are running an interactive scores out of 10 for yesterday’s game. Here is the verdict of the fans on a few players. Marks out of 10 remember and you weren’t allowed to enter zero:

    Janmaat 2.4
    Wijnaldum 2.2
    Sissoko 2.1
    Taylor 1.6

You have to think there were a few Mackems voting if Taylor got 1.6.

      (Quote)

  25. At the very least we would need a miraculous improvement in form to survive now. Norwich and Sunderland are still both very poor sides but they’ve managed more points than us. The Swansea game is possibly our final chance to get going and pick up the points we need. A fading hope but still a hope.

      (Quote)

  26. I think we have to drop Taylor, Anita and Sissoko.

Bring in Colback as holding mid, give Wijnaldum one last chance because we are at home and play Saivet on the left wing (he has played there his whole career until this year). Hopefully Dummett will be fit even though he is not great he is better than who we’ve played.

Swap Aarons for Saivet if he struggles.

We will also see if Janmaat’s was a real injury or not?

      (Quote)

  27. Shelvey is not a holding midfielder and he is doing it out of necessity because of our crap defense and our “star” players are bottling it. To have any hope he has to be played further up the pitch or not at all.

      (Quote)

  28. Why is it that almost every player is referred to by their last name and then you have your John Terry, Dele Alli and Harry Kane’s? Your Jamie Vardy about 75% of the time as well.

      (Quote)

  29. As far as Janmaat goes it’s pathetic to be wondering if a player’s injury is real or not. The same can be said for Colo. Wijnaldum plays like he’s injured as well. So poor. No impact. I can’t believe he’s an international watching him. And what can be said about Taylor? Shocking form is being too generous. He won’t play again this season hopefully.

      (Quote)

  30. I see Lascelles blasted the other players to the press. It’s about time somebody did. Shocking that it has to come from a youngster. We have some very timid players in that bunch. No guts no glory as they say. 👿

      (Quote)

  31. If there isn’t a huge clearout of players and executives this summer we’ll never come back up. Pay attention to this Ashley. You’ve destroyed the club as it once was. You’ve even made it impossible to recover your money by selling up. The only thing to do now is hire responsible, experienced people and never show up at St. James park.

  32. I think it’s time Rafa made some changes to be honest. Sissoko offers nothing and as for Gini – dear God! Taylor can go too.

My team for Swansea would be a diamond formation:

    Darlow

    Janmaat Lascelles Mbemba Dummett

    Anita
    Townsend Shelvey
    De Jong
    Mitro Cisse

  35. If toon fans could be arsed, we should be at the entrance to the training ground protesting. Some of these liabilites earn more in a week than some season ticket holders earn over 4 years yet they cant be arsed to play for a employer paying **** loads in wages 😈

      (Quote)

  36. Kimtoon: it is not like we are picking a team because we have faith in any of them. It is more by default because our “big” players have all done so poorly.

Darlow should have been sent off yesterday. Dummett is a serviceable right back at best. Lascelles has played what, 4 PL games. MBemba had a ‘mare aginst Norwich. De Jong still looks unfit. Cisse is useless unless he scores. We are playing Shelvey as defensive mid which is not his game.

I really cannot believe we are this bad but I still think Rafa will turn it around to an extent but not enough to save us.

Hopefully, Leicester will have the title sewn up and Spurs 2nd by the last day so they have nothing to play for. More importantly though, hopefully WE will have something to play for on the last day.

  37. Eric, with the players we have defensively the back four pretty much picks itself . I wonder if it’s worth going 3 at the back to enable more attacking options?

      (Quote)

  38. A few of those players yesterday were protecting themselves in 50/50 challenges. Some have their mind on the next contract they are going to get when we are relegated methinks. Only Townsend seems to really care about putting a performance in. As for Taylor, I hope that’s the last appearance he makes for the club. It must not help the confidence of Lascelles to be dropped for Taylor, why not give Lascelles the game time and premier league experience? It’s not like he is worse than Taylor.

      (Quote)

  39. Hey, Eric. I’m glad you weren’t on my flight back to Newcastle tonight. Your mate Lee Ryder was on it. I fear you would have caused a mid air scene with him!

      (Quote)

  40. problem is Eric, Shelvey needs to play central to get the ball sprayed around.

He hasnt got the engine of Speed, R Lee etc yo play offensive and he doesnt have the steel and discipline to play holding midfield 😐

Maybe Swansea dropped him for a reason…

  41. why the **** did we sign Saviet?
why the **** did we sign Doumbia?

did we sign them to make the numbers up.. what team in our situation.. who desperately need new faces to make a difference would sign two players for no purpose?? not even on the bench..

      (Quote)

  42. 24mil for Berahino and end up with a bloke who cant make the bench…only at Newcastle is this possible

We’re lucky Cisse (as **** as he is) didnt leave end of last season.

STon had attackers in abundance, not sure where Austin was but we have Mitro to rely on 😯

  43. No autograph or selfies. Maybe next time…

He seemed a decent chap to be fair. Talked to some fans who were obviously pissed off but he didn’t look like he enjoyed it too much either!

  44. Mark Lawrenson made a fair point imo,he said SM had meetings with the players every two weeks over their attitude to no avail, now Rafa is having the same problems! now what does that tell us,they don’t give a **** that’s what

well it’s no surprise given the other stories we have heard. You only got to look at some of them strolling about on the pitch on match day to know it’s true. I appreciate some may be anxious out there but some are defo not bothered. We all know who they are and i hope they get both barrels from the fans the day we drop, what’s more i hope their careers go down the pan from there on in.

  48. Any club watching Janmaat, Sissoko, Gini, Cisse, De jong, Taylor, Tiote will give them a very wide berth and they can’t all go to China.

      (Quote)

  49. KIM agree 100% no matter what lge we are in we need a full new defensive back four and clear the lot out I would maybe keep the the young Swiss kid the rest should go along with Siko,Gini, and the pretend to be injured r/b,Jong as he will never get back to what he was (shame) and couple of others,Perez seems to have gone backwards lately it seem only Mito is giving a rallying cry it’s very sad the way the club is going, cannot se Rafa staying there’s just to much to sort out before you have a team.
Great win for City on Sat bit of a shock thumping them the way they were going

      (Quote)

  50. So Janmaat broke two fingers at half time punching the wall! Any chance you can show the same passion on the pitch?

      (Quote)

  51. The one benefit is that the majority are now realising just how bad Taylor is. Lascelles and Mbemba are far better than him, and when Williamson was taking all the stick a while back we actually looked better than with Taylor. He better be one of the ones Benitez is axing, and it’s been coming for 7 years or so because he was one of the tools that took us down the first time around with comical defending – anyone noticing a trend here?

Get rid of him and Colo, that’s 130k a week saved right there. There are better championship players who play for 20k.

      (Quote)

  52. Most times we never know how much players are really on unless contracts are leaked sometimes your shocked is Rooney really on three hundred thousand a week,Naymar contract has just been leaked he’s on seventy seven thousand a week,I know who I would prefer in my team

      (Quote)

  53. So Janmaat punched a wall and broke 2 fingers. There he goes again, not being a team player. It would have been much better for the team if he had punched Sissoko.

      (Quote)

  54. Kim – Yup, Elliot for me as well. You can’t say he’s really cost us in any game, because pretty much every outfield player has been pitiful, and the defending in front of him has been a joke for most of the goals he has conceded. As soon he got injured I was reisgned to us going down.

      (Quote)

  55. sounds like he punched the wall cause he was subbed, tough titty mate, man up and help get us safe or f off.

      (Quote)

  56. I was reading an old thread on here. Who is this I love Mike Ashley guy with a picture of him in the box ? He must be to embarrassed or stupid to come on the blog now.
