Newcastle United defender opens up regarding possibility of departure

St. James Park

Newcastle United defender Lubo Satka has gone on to admit that he is currently ‘fighting’ for his future at St. James’ Park

Satka joined Newcastle United from MFK Dubnica during the summer of 2012 and managed to break into the first team a couple of years later, making his debut in a FA Cup encounter against Leicester City during the 2014/15 season.

However, the defender failed to consolidate on his big break and has not made a single appearance for the first team ever since, spending an unremarkable loan spell at League Two side York City during the latter part of last season.

Now Satka has entered the final year of his contract at St. James’ Park and it remains to be seen whether the 20-year-old has a long term future with the Championship outfit.

Satka is well aware of his situation at Newcastle and has gone on to admit that he is currently facing a battle to save his career with the Magpies.

Speaking to the Shields Gazette, the youngster said, “It’s the last year of my contract so I’m basically fighting for a new deal and to try to impress the manager. Pre-season is tough so you want to come back ready. I think it’s the same for everyone – all the other boys will be doing some work while they’re off.

“But if you want to impress, you’ve got to do more than everyone else and see what happens. I’m looking forward to getting back. I haven’t been playing for Newcastle for a while – I was out on loan which was good but also frustrating as well, because of York’s results – and I haven’t seen the lads for a while.”

  1. Cheers, Nicky. Well they haven’t released him yet so there is still hope for him, though in truth I can’t imagine he’ll be in Rafas plans.

  2. Nicky – thanks for the article mate. This kid was a hot prospect once – was it over hyped talent or a lack of opportunity. I suspect a bit of both, though I do remember Pardew used him quite a bit one pre-season, but he hasn’t had much chance in the first team. There’s been plenty injuries in defence for him to have got a chance as well.
If he gets the chance & takes it then great – if not, I can’t say I’ll loose sleep.

  3. KIM I agree Rafa will bring in a central defender that is sure to handle the ccc and beyond, don’t even think C.Good will get much of a look in imo.

    Cheers Nicky for the thread

  4. Hodgson is aware we ballsed up at the end of the Russia match isn’t he??

If we won both matches by all means rest a few, Huge risk considering what’s riding on tonight

P.S Henderthun appearing in his 3rd major tournament 🙄 ❗

  5. Six changes. I could see 2 or 3 but not 6. A huge risk to take at this point. What is the thinking here?

  6. G2 I think even a few of us have one or two we don’t rate as England class so it’s a big Risk

  7. I think it’s a huge risk, I understand resting players for knockout stages but you gotta get there first

  8. Hamsik is their danger man, if we can keep him quiet we should be ok. We are passing it quite well at the moment

  9. I think Mr. Roy made the right choice to start because the Spurs players needed a rest and he wants to see if Wilshere and Henderson are match fit. Vardy and Sturridge finished the last game anyway so that isn’t really that much of change.

Interesting that Barkley is the only outfield player not to feature apart from Stones who is risky. And Sterling has played himself out of the team. Makes you think Andros really should have gone.

I do expect to see Barkley if we struggle.

  10. Eric, was ridiculous decision to take Sterling ahead of Andros and it is showing.

Taylor scores for Wales 2 up now

  11. This is Boring. Odd pockets of flare but in the whole total tosh. Wilshire making lots of mistakes.

  12. Has Wilshere touched the ball except for that miskick just now? He seems very static in there.

  13. Worrying that with so much domination we have nothing to show for it. Gonna make for jittery viewing second half. Slovakia haven’t had a single shot have they.

  14. Sham: I am not sure if Wilshere is fit. He usually goes flying into a few challenges and he is just standing around and pointing. Henderson has not stamped his authority on the game and we should try a different corner routine to the near post flick on. At least mix it up. Boring game.

  15. Eric, he’s made a few errors. Clyne is MOTM so far for me, he is constantly skinning the Slovak down the right.

  16. Can someone please tell me how the hell that mackem Henderson can get an England shirt? He is so ****. Our corners and set pieces are ****.

Actually would’ve liked to see Fraser get a shot on goal tonight as I think Hart is **** too..

Hart doesn’t fill me with confidence, but at least he don’t have dandruff 🙄

Agree Kim, Clyne doing really well down that right side.

  19. I know I am dwelling on Wilshere but a lot of his game is his aggression and I think perhaps he is a bit wary after his latest injury. I think he has only played like half a dozen games in 2 years and it is always his ankles.

  20. Dubai: yeah, the only place Henderson should be getting an England shirt is Sports Direct.

  23. They will snatch one in a minute you see if they don’t. Need to get a grip here

    Rooney on now

  24. *** this England side are rubbish. Henderson and Wilshere need to go home and what is it with Smalling? Is he feeling lonely? He needs to cuddle all the opposite team players…

      (Quote)

  25. Well, 2 of the 4 gambles that Mr. Roy took have not paid off. Wilshere is unfit, Sterling is out of form. Let’s see if Henderson picks up and if Barkley sees any time?

You don’t really need 23 though and that is lucky for Hodgson.

If this was Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium they would be murdering us by now.

Was just about to say that, Wales killing Russia and we only managed one goal against them and couldn’t close out the game

  27. It’s always the same. Strong qualifying campaigns against poor sides then as soon as we face a good side in the competition proper, we get shown the door.

Roy got it wrong today. He put 2 fast forwards on. One deployed in the wing and the other can’t get any momentum because our attacks are laboured. We need to zip forward quickly and get Vardy running in behind the defenders but because we are so slow Slovakia get back in numbers and we end up just passing the ball sideways 30 yards out without any penetration. If we can’t tear apart a side like this then we will get murdered by your traditional tournament finalists.

Spot on mate we build so slowly and then they have 9 back, watch when they break it’s far quicker and it will pay off in a minute if we’re not careful

  29. Because they don’t have as much passion as the Welsh Kim.players like Wilshire just plod along picking their money up. No drive. Does not take his career seriously. The players in our squad that truly work their socks off and die for the cause are few and far between IMO.

  30. Wales are gonna have the last laugh by looks of it and they deserve it, doing to Russia and this lot what we apparently can’t

26 attempts, 5 on target and zero goals. Says it all.

  37. All that supposed firepower and they manage 3 goals in the group stages – Bale on his own has managed that by the way!!!.

Barkley doesn’t get a sniff, despite these changes and Sterling is dogshit – bias or not, Townsend should be there!!.

  38. Not looking past the next opponent but the way the groups are set up we will play France in the quarter final in the National Stadium in Paris. It was important to top the group and as usual the blew it.

They can spout domination in all three games all they like , it means naff all if you don’t make it pay

  42. Pleased for Wales, just think if we hadn’t gotten that late winner we’d be on 3 now 😳

  43. This has just complicated the striker position even more. Who do we pick now? Kane, Vardy, Sturridge, Rashford? I think he will revert to one up top. He may as well as Sturridge was dropping back to the half way line to get the ball sometimes.

I wonder if Troy put his money where his mouth was and bet that England reach the final. I am not saying it cannot happen, just that they are making it hard for themselves. AS USUAL.
