Newcastle United defender opens up regarding possibility of departure

Newcastle United defender Lubo Satka has gone on to admit that he is currently ‘fighting’ for his future at St. James’ Park

Satka joined Newcastle United from MFK Dubnica during the summer of 2012 and managed to break into the first team a couple of years later, making his debut in a FA Cup encounter against Leicester City during the 2014/15 season.

However, the defender failed to consolidate on his big break and has not made a single appearance for the first team ever since, spending an unremarkable loan spell at League Two side York City during the latter part of last season.

Now Satka has entered the final year of his contract at St. James’ Park and it remains to be seen whether the 20-year-old has a long term future with the Championship outfit.

Satka is well aware of his situation at Newcastle and has gone on to admit that he is currently facing a battle to save his career with the Magpies.

Speaking to the Shields Gazette, the youngster said, “It’s the last year of my contract so I’m basically fighting for a new deal and to try to impress the manager. Pre-season is tough so you want to come back ready. I think it’s the same for everyone – all the other boys will be doing some work while they’re off.

“But if you want to impress, you’ve got to do more than everyone else and see what happens. I’m looking forward to getting back. I haven’t been playing for Newcastle for a while – I was out on loan which was good but also frustrating as well, because of York’s results – and I haven’t seen the lads for a while.”

This has just complicated the striker position even more. Who do we pick now? Kane, Vardy, Sturridge, Rashford? I think he will revert to one up top. He may as well as Sturridge was dropping back to the half way line to get the ball sometimes.

I wonder if Troy put his money where his mouth was and bet that England reach the final. I am not saying it cannot happen, just that they are making it hard for themselves. AS USUAL.

    I’m saying it can’t happen.

ERIC he was playing far to deep at the same time he was wandering about like it was a Sunday kick about in the park

  3. Sham – if we play Portugal then I’d have to go with Vardy again. Their CB is ancient – can’t remember his name but used to play for Chelsea.

It was mad playing Vardy today but dropping Rooney. He should have been in midfield pinging those balls over the top for Vardy to run on to.

  4. Sham – that’s the fella.

I’ve actually been quite pleased with the defensive side of things. The full backs are really good. I like the CBs with Dier in front of them is working well & the 2 goals we’ve conceded so far have both arguably been down to Hart – certainly the Welsh goal.

Roy just seems to be unable to get the forward situation right. Lallana works his socks off – but he has NEVER scored for England in a competitive game. Sterling can’t finish to save his life – so it all seems to fall on Kane & Alli.

I don’t think tonight really help him with alternative options, coz for me, if you play Vardy you need the ball played through for him to run on to – England only did it a couple of time but mainly played through the full backs – Vardy isn’t really a header of the ball from wide areas.

It was all just a bit frustrating I thought.

  5. Sharpy: England have initially got lucky as long as it is not Portugal who finishes 2nd. If it is, I would say it is about 50/50 to go through. Any of the others and I would say at least a 75% chance. But then, the home nation in their Capital who seem to be coming into a bit of form. I think that will take a miracle. Probably still be penalties though 🙂 🙂 🙂

  6. Yeah good observations. The thing is, we have not actually played a ‘decent’ side yet. What we do know is we lack cutting edge going forward and have conceded 2 goals against relatively poor sides. I am convinced your Italy’s, Germany’s, Spain’s etc will batter us from pillar to post it and when we face them.

  7. Sham: there is very little chance we will face the teams you mention as we will be knocked out by France in the QF if not before.

  8. If it’s France then Payet will give us a lesson on how to finish and you can bet bloody Sissoko will pick that game to show what he actually can do.

From a different viewpoint it could work in our favour to play a more attacking side. There will be more space and openings to exploit without the whole team back defending hopefully .

  9. England journo’s are the most negative, boring and predictable bunch of Toss Pots anywhere in the world! They are just hell bent on trying to find negatives.

Personally I think England have looked ok in the last three games against three teams with the only purpose of defending. It’s hard to play against teams like that. We won’t see the best of this team until a team at least tries to win against us.

France, Germany and Belgium, 3 teams fancied have all be less than impressive and can grow into tournaments but when it’s England the press just complain and find reasons for us not to be good.

Regarding the England game, Slovakia were always going to park the bus and if Vardy had scored that 1st half chance it would have been a different game.

It’s certainly strange how we can beat Wales yet Wales top the group by beating a Russia side comfortably that we drew against.
