Newcastle United are considering a £8 million move for Tottenham Hotspur winger Alex Pritchard, according to reports from the Sun.

It has widely been reported that Newcastle United could lose the services of star man Andros Townsend this summer and recently, claims have been made that the England international is currently being targeted by the duo of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Given the level of interest in Townsend, Newcastle must surely prepare for the possibility of losing the 24-year-old and reports emerging out of England state that the Magpies are doing exactly that.

According to the Sun (print version on Tuesday – page 50), Newcastle are currently considering a swoop for Pritchard and are ready to splash as much as £8 million to sign the youngster.

Pritchard enjoyed a wonderful campaign during the 2014/15 season while on loan at Championship side Brentford but he struggled for regular first team football last season at Tottenham as well as while on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

While Pritchard is considered very highly, manager Mauricio Pochettino is said to be ready to dispense with the services of the 23-year-old for the right price and Newcastle are believed to be ready to lure him away from White Hart Lane as a potential replacement for Townsend.
