Stan Collymore pokes fun at former Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren

Ex-Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore has made fun of former Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren on social media website Twitter.

England endured one of the most embarrassing nights in their history after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of minnows Iceland in the Round of 16 clash of the European Championships on Monday night and following the game, the Three Lions have been rightly slammed universally.

The game started off well for England though, with Wayne Rooney giving his side the lead through a 4th minute penalty and although Iceland pegged the Three Lions back immediately, former Newcastle boss Steve McClaren, who was working as a pundit for Sky Sports News during the game, was happy with the manner at which the Three Lions had responded.

Asked about how England had responded to Iceland’s first goal, McClaren said, “Perfectly. No panic. Calmed straight down. Continued dominating the game, playing and staying in Iceland’s half.

“Down the right hand side (Daniel) Sturridge and (Kyle) Walker are causing all kinds of problems. With that, (Raheem) Sterling is able to run across the field, like he did for the penalty, and he’s causing problems.

“England have had two corners…defending zonal are Iceland, and England are causing them problems. It’s been the perfect response, you’d think no problem, start again, keep dominating, keep the pressure on the Iceland back four. The only thing they’ve got is the big boy up front Sigthorsson.”

Just as McClaren completed the sentence, Sigthorsson gave Iceland the lead and the former England boss’ reaction was hilarious.

The video has gone viral on various social media networks and even former Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore has taken the opportunity to mock McClaren by posting the following message on Twitter.
