Newcastle United new recruit Matt Ritchie has said he’s hoping to make a sizeable contribution to the number of goals the North East club score in the Championship next season.
After making the switch from Premier League outfit Bournemouth last week, Scottish international Ritchie has been warmly received by Magpies fans along with fellow new signing Dwight Gayle who joined from Crystal Palace.
Whilst talking to the Chronicle this week, the 26-year-old was rather confident of his talents in front of goal:
“I can create goals and hopefully I’ll do that this season. Hopefully we can achieve the aim of getting promoted back to the Premier League where this club belongs.”
His comments in the press will certainly make for refreshing listening for the clutch of Newcastle fans who are no doubt dumbfounded with the amount of players that have joined the club on huge pay packets but have failed to deliver the goods.
After netting a not-too-shabby 24 goals in the 81 appearances he has made in England’s second tier, the pacey winger certainly has the statistics to back-up his pledge for the new season.
