Alvaro Arbeloa is open to the idea of joining Newcastle United, according to reports from the Northern Echo.
Having strengthened the Newcastle United attack with the signings of Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle, manager Rafael Benitez is currently said to be looking to bolster his backline and various reports have stated that former Real Madrid star Alvaro Arbeloa is one of his main targets.
Arbeloa was released by Spanish giants Real Madrid at the conclusion of last season and it is widely believed that the former Spanish international is being courted by a host of clubs, with Newcastle believed to be very keen on the 33-year-old.
Now according to reports from the Northern Echo, revelations can be made that Arbeloa would be open to a move to Newcastle United due to the presence of Benitez as manager and the ex-Liverpool full-back is said to be ready for the challenge of helping guide the Magpies back into the Premier League.
