The Watford Observer report that Newcastle United have not placed a bid for Watford star Craig Cathcart.
Given the fact that Newcastle United are currently on the lookout to sign a couple of new central defenders following the departures of Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor, it has been no surprise to see a host of names being linked with the Magpies this summer.
Recently, reports had claimed that Newcastle United were monitoring Watford defender Craig Cathcart and that the Magpies had even placed a bid of around £7 million for the Northern Irish international.
However, the Watford Observer has provided an update to the story by stating that Newcastle have not made a bid for Cathcart. The report also adds that the Hornets are not interested in selling the 27-year-old and a transfer away looks very unlikely.
Cathcart made 35 Premier League appearances for Watford last season and played a crucial role in helping the club avoid relegation comfortably.
