Former Newcastle star says that the Magpies’ fans are ‘funny’

Former Newcastle United defender Olivier Bernard has labeled the Magpies’ faithful as ‘funny’ in an interview with talkSPORT, via HITC.

It has been clear for quite a while now that Moussa Sissoko wants to leave Newcastle United this summer and the midfielder has managed to attract the interest from a number of top clubs following his fine performances at the European Championships.

The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been credited with an interest in Sissoko over the past few weeks and it seems certain that the French international will be leaving St. James’ Park this summer, despite his whopping £35 million asking price.

Now former Newcastle defender Olivier Bernard has gone on to have his say regarding the speculation surrounding the future of Sissoko and has stated that the ‘funny’ Magpies’ faithful will not be pinning their hopes on keeping the 26-year-old at Tyneside beyond the end of the summer.

Bernard told talkSPORT, “The Newcastle fans are funny. All season they wanted him out, and now he plays where he’s feeling comfortable.

“When he plays with better players, he gets better. He will get better. I don’t think the fans will hold him. After what he’s heard it will be very easy for him to leave Newcastle.”
