Newcastle United midfielder makes an astonishing revelation

Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has revealed that he has lost nearly seven kilos since last season.

Newcastle splashed a sizeable £12 million to secure the services of Jonjo Shelvey from Swansea City during the January transfer window of last season in their desperate attempt to stave off relegation into the Championship.

However, Shelvey was unable to make the desired impact at St. James’ Park and ultimately did not do enough to contribute in the Magpies’ unsuccessful fight against the drop.

Understandably, a section of the Newcastle fans were not particularly pleased with Shelvey’s performances and there has been talks that the former Liverpool star could end up leaving Tyneside for a Premier League club this summer.

Despite the exit talks, Shelvey seems to be committed to the Newcastle cause for the upcoming campaign and has stated that he has shed off nearly seven kilos during the off season after going through intense sessions with a personal trainer in preparation for the Championship season.

He said, “I have lost six or seven kilos since last season. I didn’t really have a summer holiday, I went away for a week, and come back and five weeks with a personal trainer trying to get myself in decent nick for the season to give myself the best chance to come and play. It was just what I needed to do.”
