We know Moussa Sissoko has no qualms about leaving. When he needed to step up to the plate for us last season, he went missing more often than not.
But playing in this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament has turned his head, particularly the media attention. France lost the final and he didn’t play particularly well in that game, in my opinion. His claim in France Football that he gives himself “10 out of 10” for his contribution tells you all you need to know about his assessment of his performances.
It would come as no surprise to find he gives himself a similar mark for his club form.
We’re at the point now where we and the club know he’s left. It might not be reality but in his and our heads, it is the truth. I don’t want anyone to be sold cheaply but this a man walking out of the door:
“My priority is to stay in England even if I’m not against going to search for a new challenge elsewhere.
“I particularly want to play with big players and in top-level matches.”
As resignation letters go, that’s as definitive as they come.
