Ayoze Perez has reiterated his desire to stay put at Newcastle United.
Newcastle United are facing the prospect of a mass exodus this summer as the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Georginio Wijnaldum, Daryl Janmaat and Tim Krul are all expected to be leaving St. James’ Park.
Nonetheless, a number of key players have pledged their allegiance to Newcastle and among them, young star Ayoze Perez had gone on to reveal last month that he wants to stay put at Tyneside.
Despite Perez’s admission, there was a possibility that the Spaniard could be lured away from Newcastle as La Liga giants Barcelona were believed to be keen on his services.
To put the Newcastle fans at ease though, Perez has once again reiterated that he does not have any intention of leaving and added that he is currently focusing on getting the Magpies back into the Premier League.
Speaking ahead of Newcastle’s pre-season friendly against Doncaster, Perez told the Shields Gazette, “I already said when the team went down that I would try to come back to the Premier League (with Newcastle). That’s it. I’m focused. I’m here. Now we need to get fit for a tough season.
“We have had a rest, now it’s time to start again, work and focus on the season ahead. We try to get back as soon as possible.”
