Newcastle United could let defender depart this summer

Newcastle United may consider allowing Kevin Mbabu to leave on loan this summer, according to reports from the Chronicle.

There was a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Kevin Mbabu at Newcastle United this summer as he had entered the final months of his contract and it seemed like the defender would be let go, especially following a poor campaign in the Premier League last term.

A bit surprisingly, manager Rafael Benitez decided to hand Mbabu a brand new two year contract in June and the deal suggested that the Spaniard is planning to use the former Swiss Under-19 international prominently during the upcoming Championship campaign.

Despite the new deal though, Mbabu has not been a regular starter for Newcastle in pre-season so far and youngster Jamie Sterry has been preferred over the 21-year-old in the starting lineup.

Now according to reports from the Chronicle, it has been claimed that Newcastle could well consider sending Mbabu out on loan this summer and the youngster is said to be wanted by a host of Championship clubs.
