European team hopeful of completing attacker’s deal with Newcastle by the weekend

Henri Saivet

French side Marseille are hopeful of sealing a deal for Henri Saivet before Sunday, according to reports from La Provence.

Saivet has endured a terrible time at Newcastle United following his £5 million move from Bordeaux during the January transfer window last season and having not featured at all under Rafael Benitez, it seems all but certain that the 25-year-old will be leaving St. James’ Park this summer.

Reports emerging out of France had claimed last week that Saivet is keen on a return back to Ligue 1 and giants Marseille had been mentioned as the interested party in the attacker’s services.

Now in a further update to the story, La Provence claim that Marseille are keen on securing the signature of Saivet as soon as possible and new Sporting Director, Gunter Jacob, wants the deal to be completed before Sunday.

A fee for the prospective transfer has not been mentioned as of yet but Newcastle are widely expected to take a major hit on the £5 million they splashed for Saivet just over six months ago.
